Not so long ago I did a short post on Eric - now Eric was an alcoholic spider that i knew who lived here with me.Alcoholic ? Yep - he walked sideways and would only show his 8 legs when there was ever any booze in the house. But needless to say - he met his demise a while back and i thought i was rid of that arachnid species forever.
However -we are now in the grip of a particularly nasty hot summer, where the day time averages are about 35 and the night time is about 27.We have had thunderstorms,a lot of them - as a result of the heat and the humidity. So it is bringing out all manner of creatures that normally live underground - because the ground is now too hot.
Now i have noticed over the last 2 weeks or so,that there have been a lot of spiders crawling around the house -some small, some large. It is times like this that having a cat comes in handy - but even he has been too scared to attack the larger ones.
The most common i have seen is the 'flat spider' from a distance it looks like a small scorpion, but it is actually a completely flat spider. It can fit anywhere.I am not sure of the proper name for them, but we call them 'flat spiders' anyways.
So i was minding my own business this afternoon, washing out my bath tub. When Eric's sister - who we shall call Angela - decided to get all Jackie Chan on me,and jumped at me off the wall, and landed on my arm, sinking those little teeth in as she did.
Needless to say,I didnt see this coming and went into attack mode immediately.I had boiling hot water in the tub at the time,so i brushed her into the water,as quickly as i could - do you know, this bitch went straight to the bottom -and started to walk around. When i looked hard enough,I could even see the tiniest of air bubbles coming to the surface - this bitch was snorkeling under the water.Having marveled at the sight of this for a few moments,I comtemplated my next move - but that was easy - pull the plug.
I bet you never saw a spider breakdance on ice before have you?
Cruel I know - but the bitch bit me - so need less to say,as i watched her swirling her way down the drain - i flushed it out with some more hot water for good measure - just to be sure.
The arm is abit sore - but i will live to fight another day, pity i cant say the same for Angela though
