Gas prices are finally coming down. We can all breathe a sigh of relief ... for a little while. Gas prices will go back up so we all need to be prepared when they do. How and what we drive can save us money at the pump AND help save the environment for generations to come.

Considering a Hybrid?

When gas prices start getting out of hand, we think more about hybrids and other gas saving vehicles. Wouldn't it be nice to use less gas and save money? And make fewer trips to the gas station? Now that the gas prices are lower, looking for a more fuel efficient car may be less of a priority but remember: gases prices will go back up so be prepared. If you were seriously considering a new gas saving vehicle before, it's probably still a good idea now. The good news is that you won't feel the pressure from the high gas prices to rush your decision. Take your time to choose the right vehicle for you and be prepared when the prices start soaring again.

Do You Need To Drive Fast?

We've heard this one before: if you drive slower, you save gas. When you're sitting in rush hour traffic, you don't have much of a choice but you do at other times. Imagine the open road, no one around, you are anxious to get somewhere. Maybe you're tired and want to get home. Maybe you are late for an appointment. Whatever the reason, you're tempted to drive as fast as you think you can get away with. If you do, you could be using more gas and money than you need to. If you can slow down even just some of the time, you'll save gas. The higher gas prices go, the more important every little bit will help. If buying a more efficient car is out of the question, make the one you have more efficient by just driving a little slower.

Do You Need To Drive At All?

Can you carpool? Can you put all of your trips together? If you drive to work, can you run errands on your way to and from work while you are already using the car anyway? Sometimes, the answer to these questions is no and that's okay but sometimes the answer is yes. Maybe you can't do all your shopping after work, especially when you're tired, but can you do some? Sometimes the extra effort during the week is worth it to save you time and another trip over the weekend. Making several separate trips not only uses gas, it's also more time consuming so if you consolidate trips, you'll have more time to relax. Save gas, save money and save time.
