GMNIMan's tags:
I once made a chilling pact with a friend who is a State Assemblyman, a state representative akin to the American congressman I think. This is just the kind of pact that many would consider an outright taboo, one that would literally make your skin crawl just by the very thought of it!

It all started when the two of us got into a discussion about God and the afterlife. This assemblyman is a Buddhist by virtue of his family and upbringing. He also happens to be a very intelligent person, always ending top of his class all the way from elementary to high school. Then he won a scholarship to study engineering in England and graduated with first class honors. A superlative man of science, a very brilliant individual.

As is with many person of science, he also subscribes to faith in logic and logic alone. The ways of God are not the ways of man, so we have been told, meaning therefore that God transcends beyond logic.

My friend of course could not accept this explanation of God and therefore questioned His existence and that of the afterlife. This was where our argument started, and of course we reached an impasse. My faith in God is as solid as the rock upon which He built His church, and to my friend there was never a creator and the great 'I AM' is the human persona which is the electro-biochemical end product of thousands of years of human evolution, period.

So to cut a long story short, we concluded the argument with an unholy pact of sort: That, if I were to die first, I will return to him from the afterlife to confirm to him of its existence, and if he were to die first, he will do likewise. Of course in my case, he does not even need to return, for I already believe wholeheartedly, but a pact is a pact and has to be bilateral.

That was twenty years ago, and the clock is ticking!

Chilling yeah? Okay who wants to swap places with me? Or better still, who would want to make a new pact with me? Non-believers beware!

OMG GMNI, that's scary. Aren't you even scared? You might just live to regret it!

Okay, I'll make a pact with you: 'Stay away from me, and I'll stay away from you'. Brrrrr!
  • FaithfulDisciple said on Aug 24, 2006....
Is there a way to undo your pact? Are you serious about it? It might probably delay you to wherever you need to be going as this pact sounds like an unfinished earthly business to take care of. Our earthly words and thoughts may probably have a profound effect in the spiritual word, so me must be careful to use them.
  • GMNIMan said on Aug 24, 2006....
Remember also that I made this pact about 20 years ago when I was not as spiritual as I am now.

Ultimately "God's Will" will be the final deciding factor here. Whether He wants me to come back to deliver the message to my friend will all depend on what God has planned for this said individual. Remember the story of the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16:20).

When God decides that my time to leave this world has come, I will go. I will not be bounded by any unfinished earthly business, because the way I see it now, this pact does not put me in bondage to anything physical of this world. If anything my part of the pact was that I become a spirit first in order to fulfil it. I was not the one with the problem but my friend was. This was afterall not a pact with the dark enemy, but was in reality an offering of myself in order to save a dear friend.

Not an entirely orginal challenge actually, one of the Saints of our church had just such a challenge with a friend. I am not so sure who that saint was, but it could had been St. Don Bosco or St. Ricardo something, except their challenge was about the existence of purgatory, and the one who went first did come back.

I have since that time, seen too much of the power of God being manifested in my life to have any fear of anything worldly or unholy.

FD, I know on the surface I may give the impression that I have a very relaxed outlook of life, but I have actually come face to face with the devil himself, and Satan even had me in his clutches and each time God came to my rescue under dramatic circumstances and with very startling manifestations of His powers.

I will be telling all in future posts, but I am not so sure just how the other members here will take such posts. They may just think all the stories are just figments of my creative mind, but I will bear that cross when the time comes.

FD, I am truly touched by your concern, but you need not be unduly worried, my life is in the hands of God and there is no other better place to be.

Do pray for me unceasingly though for I am under constant spiritual attacks from the enemy, and I need to be strong to carry myself through the storm. Even the Lord needed Simon to help Him with His cross on the road to Calvary, what more lesser men like us!

I am your brethren always, thank you and God bless.

Is this for real? Kind of scary isn't it? but if anyone is to be frightened, it has to be GMNIMan, not so much if he goes first, but if the other person goes first! I wouldn't be able to sleep if I am him.

However do not underestimate God's love. He will pull you through against any trials and tribulation! Trust in God always.

I read stories of saints who come face to face with demons and unholy spirits almost on a daily basis, so that is nothing new if you are prepared for them, the spirits I mean.
  • FaithfulDisciple said on Aug 24, 2006....
GM: All those close to God are tested by the devil. Even Jesus Himself was not spared from the temptations. There is a truth in the saying. Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer. This is what the devil is trying to do.

I'm glad and fortunate to have met in you a true Christian who has experienced living faith. This is what I meant in my previous posts when I said that when God touches your heart, you have become a new you, there's no turning back to your old former self.

Those who have not yet experienced God in this personal sort of way will not be able to understand what we are trying to say. I have always said that I have no problem with my faith and have no intention of discussing it with those who don't subscribe to it.

Since no amount of intellectual discussion is adequate, if one's heart and mind isn't open to God, they will never come to understand God.

I shall always include your intentions and protection from evil in my prayers and may I also request you to do the same for me. Thanks and God bless! :D

I for one am not afraid. Fear will always be there, but my principle is that there are more important things than fear or fearing something.

Since it is way beyond our ken to discuss something which was not made for the living, I will make this pact with you. If I do go first, and what you and I believe to be true, then I will do my best to come back, although it may already be unnecessary, to confirm the good news.

It is nice to know that you made this pact in the interest of saving this person. I am by no means a bible thumper so I will not discuss so much on the matter.
  • choppergh said on Aug 24, 2006....
What you're doing is scaring. Quit that and continue like nothing happened. I mean, you're just gonna go back to him from the afterlife, saying: 'Gotcha, I was right. He does exist.' Things you should worry more about is this: 1. Will he believe it? 2. What if you find out he was right? Sorry if I scared you, but that's a more important concern. Wait no, it's not worth concerning.
  • secretlife said on Aug 24, 2006....

paidinblood I am already aware of your strong faith in God, so there is no real necccesity for us to go into any such pact at the risk of putting the Lord to the test.

Truthfully (dramatics aside), I will only consider such a promise again if I am challenged for the proof of the existence of God's and His promise of afterlife by someone with a total apathy to God.

Do not worry too much that you are not much of a bible person. All the early Christians never had access to the bible, many did not even know how to read, yet they were among the greatest saints Christiandom ever had. They followed God in total faith alone without having to refer to anything in black and white, unlike many so called christians today. This was totally believing without seeing - read about St. Thomas (John 20:24 - 29).

I'm from a WASP family and upbringing. I'm getting pretty close to that double nickel age wise. I live in a country where Buddhism is the major religion. I've been in this place almost eight years. I've studied alot of eastern religions.

Personally, I have a distaste for orgnized religion in any manner, shape or form. I have a strong devotion to the belief that "we" and "everything" that exists is connected. It's all attached together. Everything looks to me as orgnized and something that just didn't happen by accident. "We" are just a part of very vast gizmo of creation. Also, if one looks at what is happening on the sub atomic level you see the same relationship.

I choose not to use a term as "God". But, I do belive "we" are part of "something" in this cosmos. How do you define the term "Life"? I have a great respect for "death" and I will admit I am not in a hurry to do what we must all do sometime in the not too distant future. I have read that the average human life totals 650,000 hours. I've come to the conclusion to try not to waste how ever much time I've got left.

Personally, to me "God" is over rated.

    ROFLMAO !!!

You are going to have much better things to do after you are dead than to go keep such a pact.

As for your friend, well, some people like ghosts hanging around. But I think he'll probably have better things to do as well.

Of course, he may come back just to irritate you.

Sorry about the comment, but this really is funny to me. Even if your friend were to come back to this reality, you probably wouldn't believe him anyway.

And if he comes back and says there is no afterlife?

    What would you do then?

  • GMNIMan said on Aug 25, 2006....
Of course if there is no afterlife, he would not be coming back at all since there would be nothing for to come back from!! So maybe just to not let me have the satisfaction, he could just refuse to come back to make me belief that there is no afterlife afterall.

But then again I have already seen spirits from the afterlife to know of its existence, so if he does not come back, it is of no big deal to me. If he does come back, then it is cool too, I have seen that also.

I'll take that pact!! I should warn you though I am a firm believer of the afterlife. i think it would be so cool for someone to come back and let us know how it is, but it could also ruin the mystery don't you think?
  • GMNIMan said on Aug 25, 2006....

  • CreativeWoman said on Aug 26, 2006....
I don't think the pact is so chilling. Is there a darkness to it that I'm not connecting with?

As you get older and you start to lose people around you, there are signs that your departed loved ones move around you. There are times I smell by brother's cigarrette smoke. I know he's letting me know he's alright.

    I truly believe in spirits.

I think it can be chilling for some not so much if they die first, but if that the other guy dies first, then everything that goes "bump" will surely make you jump!

I have actually seen ghosts, and I mean real, physical manifestation (aural and visual), not once by a few times. You never really get use to them. Still gives me goose bumps everytime it happens. I am not really scared of them anymore, but seeing one face to face, standing right in front of me is still, and will always be, quite an experience.

    Hi GMNIMan
What an interesting post to read. I am a believer in life after life with a strong knowing of God and of Christ. I have been blessed with many experiences that bring proof that life exists after life I have always found that them to be bring a sense of peace and hope that can carry us through to the eternity that is promised. I would like to share one of these experiences with you.
On this particular occassion I had the pleasure of delivering a message to the loved one of an elderly man who was in spirit. The message was from her husband who had passed away a few years prior. The message was so simple and short and I had no idea of the significance that it held. The gentleman appeared in front of his wife and asked me to explain to her what he was doing. I said to the elderly woman, "your husband is standing before you and he has asked me to tell you he is blowing you a kiss" the woman lifted her head and turned it slightly as if to say she was listening. I continued, He asks me to tell you it is not just an ordinary kiss, and I showed her what he was doing and said "He is blowing you a kiss straight from his heart to your heart". The tears rolled down her face and she become very emotional yet her face lite up and she appeared full of gratitude as she thanked me for the message. Her husband had always blown her kisses straight to her heart she confirmed and she said, he had told me if it is possible he would find a way to let me know he was watching over me and would let her know it was him by sending his kiss to her heart".
I think people often are scared of things they don't understand however if we open our hearts and our minds then perhaps the miracles of life wont be missed.
I agree- there surely is a connectedness - I believe I am part of that connectedness but I am not fearful.
If I can return and bring proof that life exists after life which is confirmation in itself of everlasting life then count me in.
    Love and Light

    Hey heavenlysent !

You see those dead dudes too?

    I generally ignore them.

But once, this young guy started coming around and I couldn't figure out why. He was like one of my little brothers, but cute.

Along with him came an old looking guy, but not seen with physical eyes. I'm used to that. I generally ignore them; idiots in life, idiots in death (apologies to the spirits!!!).

Finally I told the young guy someone was trying to get a message to him, and what in the hell is going on.

Guy said his grandfather had died a couple months before.

I said, "Well, he's trying like hell to tell you something! Pay attention."

    That was that.

But the guy kept coming around. That was fun, except when grandpa was chaperoning.

Hi again. Yes but I have learnt to move in and out of what I refer to as work mode. This simply means that I have learnt to put it in its place and its appropriateness so that it doesn't interfer in peoples life or in my life. There are many people that believe they do not have any control over what happens however I have learnt to trust and build a contract with spirit so that there is a naturalness to what unfolds. For instance GMNIMan answered a totally unrelated question for me in my post and I checked out his and found this conversation. There is a naturalness to the way spirit work and it unfolds.
I have been blessed with so much proof for myself and others that I have no fear of Spirit, their is a gentleness and peacefulness that exists when working with Spirit so fear of them is not real for me. aeschylus you probably would have noticed that you may have been startled rather than scared.

I shouldn't have said "baby" ... but "young"

For some of us, there is no moving in and out of that space, although when I was younger I could do that.

Eventually, if the connection is there, you just keep the space open.

    You commented:

"aeschylus you probably would have noticed that you may have been startled rather than scared."

    Huh???

Why would I be startled or scared about something I've done all my life???

And what in the world did I say that gave you that assumption???

aeschylus - Oh! I really do apologise that should have read - you probably would agree we may be startled rather than scared. (meaning, whenever we see them)
I was suppose to be acknowledging your awareness and didn't read over my comment. Please accept my most humble apology.
"baby" yes when it comes to communicating like this I agree and I have just learnt a valuable lesson - thankyou and sorry to all for the confusion.
You are right and I do have alot to learn. However I know when I was younger things were not so clear to me and spirit interupted my life continually because I believed I had no control over when they came and what was happening to me. Like in life and other relationships I had to learn to say no to them as well as I found they would have me work 24/7 if I was open to it. Now working with them is much more manageable as I have a contract with them that is only interupted in an emergency or whenever something is coming in for myself. Other than that I move into work mode in a time that is appropriate to me. Thats all I meant.
    Regards to you GMNIMan -

heavenlysent, aeschylus thanks for engaging yourself in an interesting exchange of ideas on my blog. Sorry that I have been actively participating in your conversations but I have been very occupied this past week.

Yes I still do get startled whenever I see a spirit manifestation. I guess I'll never get completely used to them. I don't always see them anyway, so the rarity of their apearances does make it all the more difficult to get more accustomed to their presence.

However I do see moving light and dark shadows all the time and some of them have very distinct shapes, but the solid 3d manifestations do not come too often. Should I be thankful or not?
