Everyone knows Steve Mapes of Lincoln Nebraska only has a 6th grade education. Was it because Steve Mapes dropped out of school? No. Steve Mapes was kicked out of the Lincoln Public Schools System.
Steve Mapes exhausted every resource LPS (Lincoln Public Schools) could come up with to keep Steve in school. In the end they washed their hands of Steve and expelled him from the entire school system. That's right, Steve Mapes exhausted the resources of teachers, councilors and the schools best mental health professionals. None of these people could help Steve. Steve is not a special needs person. His mental illness is drug induced. When anyone trys to teach Steve anything he always throws one of his temper tantrums. You know Steve Mapes is truly lost when a team of professionals can not straighten him out. Not making it to the 7th grade is when Steve found crack cocaine. That is another story.
Steve's father was a Lincoln Nebraska wealthy business man. he would often pay Steve just to stay away from him and his business. This enabled Steve. This triggered Steve's need to throw temper tantrums. Steve knew a temper tantrum would get him out of any situation as it has always worked.
When Steve was in his 20's his father payed another Lincoln Nebraska construction contractor to babysit Steve Mapes. Steve's father told this Lincoln Business man "I'll pay you $700 a week to try to teach Steve how to make an honest dollar". Steve's job was nothing more than picking up scraps on the jobsite. Steve would basically be paid 700 to stand around and pick up scraps when needed and the contractor would be paid 700 a week to keep him out of trouble. $700 a week for letting someone ride along was good money back them. $2800 a month just for toting some dork around keeping him out of trouble and off crack.
it then came time for Steve to start to learn part of the trade. A couple simple holes needed to be drilled. The Lincoln Nebraska business contractor told Steve "I Think it's about time you learned some of the tools". The boss then told Steve he would show him how to use the power drill. Steve yelled "I CAN DO IT, I KNOW HOW TO ALREADY!". The boss told Steve "now Steve, this is not just any power drill, people have broken their arm using this drill". Steve then screamed " I CAN DO IT!". the boss then asked Steve if he had used a drill like this before, because it's very dangerous. Steve said "NO, BUT I KNOW I CAN DO IT!". the man then informed Steve that he needed to listen to instructions to use it as he could be seriouslly hurt, get his jaw or arm broken. As the man tried to show Steve the proper way to hold the drill Steve freaked out and started one of his temper tantrums. Steve started screaming in front of at least a dozen contractors on the job site "F YOU!, I CAN DO IT". Steve starting kicking wood around and throwing things while screaming at the top of his lungs "F YOU! I CAN DO IT!". Steve was then told to wait in the truck as someone would be along in a minute to drive him home".
The Lincoln Business Owner / Contractor ended up going back to Steve Mapes's father telling him about how Steve threw a huge temper tantrum in front of all his co-workers. The man told his father, "I am sorry, I just can't do this with Steve, I can't risk losing contracts because of his behavior on the job site". That's right, by today's economy, that man gave up $5K a month to babysit some "uneducated loser".
So as you see, no person has ever been successful at teaching Steve Mapes anything. Not the Lincoln Public Schools, Not the Lincoln Police Department, Not NA, Not the Betty Ford Clinics Steve went to and not the Nebraska State Pen. None of these institutions have been able to teach Steve Mapes the most simplist things.
The only person that ever taught Steve Mapes a lesson was the father of the little girl Steve Mapes was sexually harassing at the U-Stop on 27th and Stockwell.
