NBC SOURCES DIVERSE TALENT
NBC's COMEDY SHORT CUTS has been judging your short comedies with a culturally
diverse production team, cast, or theme. Uncovering diverse talent in front of
and behind the camera for future development, NBC Universal has created an
important new showcase for short films. Winners will receive numerous prizes,
including a pitch meeting at NBC and broadcast on NBC's new broadband channels.
After getting hundreds of submissions, the 12 semi-finalists have been chosen
and are up on their own Withoutabox Audience page within the Comedy Short Cuts
website! Check out how NBC is using Audience. Watch and rate the winning
films. Talk with the filmmakers. See how your favorites do when a celebrity
panel of judges narrows the field to three finalists in a gala New York event
next week.

SOMETHING'S ASKEW
Eight of the twelve finalists for KEVIN SMITH'S MOVIES ASKEW Competition are
Withoutabox filmmakers, just like you. Out of thousands of submissions taken
over the course of an entire year, only twelve finalists were selected and are
competing for the Panasonic gold mine Grand Prize, which includes the Panasonic
AG-DVX100A Camera (where you can film things to watch on), the Panasonic 53"
Widescreen Projection HDTV (what use is a great TV, without awesome sound?),
along with a Panasonic Home Theater System. Good luck to our WABees - we hope
one of you wins these great prizes! Hang with Kevin Smith, and a celebrity
panel of judges as the winners are selected. To pick up quickly disappearing tix

"MONK" SCORES A FIRST IN INDIA!
"Monk from Komik," a short film selected for The Withoutabox Distribution Lab,
not only has a hugely popular Audience page, but has just become the first film
ever chosen for cell phone videoclips and wallpaper downloads in India. There
was a screening at the monastery featured in the film in India on August 20. Raj
and Bindiya, the producer and filmmaker of this moving and visually stunning
documentary, are using Audience to garner attention among supporters and the
press--and to further the cause of keeping this important spiritual center
alive. Check out Monk from Komik's audience page and say congratulations on the
successfully screening this past Sunday!
