I am going through a bit of a dry spell...."writer's block" if you will.
when i was in 4th grade i loved to write. In my class we kept a daily journal. I LOVED it, it was my most favorite thing to do. I loved writing. I was 10 years old and i had a wild imagination, like most kids do.The teacher would just give us a topic and i would just write and write....i never remember not being able to get started or having any trouble coming up with a story or whatever we were supposed to write about that day. i just did it...it was so easy back then. I really wish i still had my school journal for that year. I would really like to read it. Maybe it would even inspire something for me to write about NOW.
   In the 5th grade i had this notebook that i would write stories in.It wasn't for school, it was personal and private (until my little brother got ahold of it and read it!) I was really into teen books at the time. My favorites were The Babysitter's Club, Sleepover Friends, and Sweet Valley High. I started to get into teen love stories as well. So i tried to write my own. This one story that i wrote was supposed to be about me and my friends and a boy that i had a crush on. But i changed the names and it was completely fiction! it was more like a fantasy, i would write about what i wanted to happen with this boy and make it into a story. I had no trouble writing fiction stories like i do now --20 years later! The well has run dry! Give me a topic to wtite about now and my mind goes blank! If i have to write fiction-i just can't do it at all. Maybe i am just too critical of myself now. When i was a young girl i wrote about silly things like cats and riding my bike! Writing was FUN then, now it kinda seems like WORK. I really wish i could find a way to make it fun again. When i was a teen i was angry and emotional so my writing was all angsty but i still didn't find it difficult to write about anything.I just miss my old writing style and how easily it used to come to me. I have lived 30 years it seems like i would have a lot more to write about than when i was 10 years old!
