...when he said he was an asshole.
And I understand that you have to be an asshole in the business world. That's why I wanted nothing to do with it. See, I'd prefer to be an asshole because I want to, not because I have to. Hence, I write ballistica literature.
And I can understand someone like Warren Buffett being an asshole to his business rivals or foot-dragging employees, who are only connected to him through work-related channels. It's not supposed to be personal--it's just business. Shitty, soul-crushing business, but business nonetheless.
But disowning his own granddaughter? Goddamn, Warren Buffett is a major asshole:
Okay, so Buffett's son adopts Nicole (via marrying her mother). Nicole has a cozy but otherwise austere upbringing, with a few little perks like fully-paid college tuition. Buffett gets super-wealthy and super-famous. Nicole is asked to be in a documentary, gets her father's okay on it, and makes some comments that are misinterpreted. And Buffet disowns her.
Yeah, that's complete bullshit. For a man who's supposedly "committed" to "homespun values" to ruthlessly and remorselessly exclude a member of his family--who's only crimes were not informing the whole family of her media appearances and not knowing how to phrase her answers--is the very essence of NOT okay.
She's not a fucking PR person, Buffett! She's an art student! Moreover, she's your granddaughter, adopted or not, and you should have either asked her to refer questions to an appointed family spokesperson or gotten her a coach to help her field questions better.
Fuck Warren Buffett. If I could make those Goldman Sachs assholes give back that check he wrote them, I would, and they ought to be ashamed of themselves for accepting it in the first place. But then, apparently, they still are having issues, so maybe Buffet's not going to get that money back after all. Crotchety old prick...
