hi guys!
i made these last year. and well i am sure ill get yelled at by all the real quilters out there. but  here lately i have alot of people telling me to make and sell my blankets. so with that no this. i bet they are no perfact in any way. not hand needled. and i call the trash blankets. why you ask well i love them beautifull hand made ones worth 1000.. but people dont  use them. or love on them or cuddle them. so  mines are that. oh shit i spilled  soda or droped ranch dip watching tv. well toss in the wash and dry it up. drag them outside lay on them  muddy oh well. i think people should use a blanket not look at it..
so my question is this what in the world would you pay for one of my blankets? if you ask me there not worth it cause there not right. but thats me.

Well, I don't consider myself a "real" quilter either.  I compare my work to my grandmother's, for example, and...YEESH!  I am definitely an amateur!

Speaking of which...omigosh look at that machine quilting...are those hearts I see??  I could never do that!

But there is a word in quilting circles for what you are talking about, it's "utility."  As in a utility quilt or utility blanket.  Something that is made to be quick to put together and actually USABLE instead of feeling like it should be a museum piece.  Being machine quilted is great for that.  Also if you use something other than polyester fiberfill for the batting - for example cotton flanel if you pre-shrink it before you use it - means you can throw it in the dryer with no trouble.  You can put poly in the dryer too but you might or might not get some "beards" poking through.  I use flanel batting all the time when I make baby quilts because I know new parents don't have the time to line-dry anything! :D

I have no idea what I personally would pay for your work but I think definitely there are people who would buy it.  The idea of having something homemade (and actually they are quite lovely, not "trash" at all!) that you don't feel guilty about actually using...well that's very appealing to a lot of people :)

Oh my winter!  The detail in them is quite breathtaking.  I have no idea what things are worth in the first place I'm afraid but I don't see why on one would buy them.  I know I would.  It's like you said.  They are meant to have cuddles on, to have a picnic on, to sit in the sun and feed a baby on or just watch baby trying to crawl and sit up on.  The are made for laying out on the grass to sunbathe on or sit chatting with your best friend on.  Then, all those years later, that quilt will be more than a quilt.  It will be a patchwork of memories.  That is priceless :-)

BTW - I can't see a darn thing wrong with the ones in the pics either :-))

nytquill17  thank you hunny! yep you see hearts. my mother in law started quilting after i did. and she does do all the so call right things. she bought herself a long arm. i used it but it scares me cause the darn thing cost so much im scared id break it. so she  puts them together for me. i am what you called need a v8 lol i cant make anything squared as you can see in my tie dye one lol... and i guess that is my point i am not shiting i can knock a blanket out in a day. cause i dont pen i dont iorn lol. i put them together and sew away. lol..  on the tie dye she did squiggles <sp?>

pusscat  thank you sweetie! i started makeing curtins in my home lol. then my baby girl hit the barbie stage and we made her room and i made curtins. and had left overs and so i made pillows and a quilt. and it was so cute. but if you held it up it was so out of square lol.. my hole v8 i cant walk a stright line... and with kids i new hey i can go over there and make a blanket cheeper than buy one. and kids are ruff! and one year as a gift i made a friend a tim mc graw blanket.. i added pictures she has of him all over it.

but with times tuff i was thinking maybe i should start makeing blankets. i mean i could get that 1 dollar a yard fabric wally world has. and make them up.well the most money is what i back them with i buy a flat bed sheet for the back. so it is 1 full sheet and soft and cuddle. so maybe 50 bux is that to high?

there is nothing better than havin a blanket for any occassion and i wud have 1 of those, the work is so delicate it must take you hrs and days to complete such works of art, any1 can go out and buy blankets but wen they are made by caring hands its worth its weight in gold, same as pc says afta time it becomes a blanket of memories, and for the record i cant see anything wrong with the pic's at all, keep up the good work.................x

I feel so completely empty. I've been so depressed lately that I can't seem to remember when I became this way. What happened to me? I can't be happy anymore. I can't bring myself to do any of the things I used to like. All I want to do is sit around and...
