Una actualización del paquete xserver-xorg-core se ha cargado en los sistemas actualizados el entorno grafico, dejando por tanto la interacción con el sistema limitada a la línea de comandos.
Una solución rapida para corregir este problema:
Control+Alt+F1 (en modo texto) e introducir:
sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude upgrade
