  I get ribbed for doing xmassy stuff here, I love hanging huge candy canes over our balcony, with wreaths and tinsel everywhere.  I have three big xmas stockings as well but this year, I'mnot sure Ginger, this year it doesn't feel so christmassy here.

   

  You're tree is gorgeous, I love the old decorations, they feel warm.

  I too have two stockings already hanging at the fireplace mantel...i think you can see the white one ..that's mine...then i have one for my daughter and even one for my dog....lol.....

  I used to put up my daughter handmade decorations when she was little....you know.....all those crafty little things she was doing at school...she was feeling so proud to see them displayed on our tree...nice memories....

  Ginger ~ A little of both, its very selfish of me but it all feels a little one sided this year, and I know I should be thankful that I have a healthy body, a happy marriage and a good life.  Remembering that sometimes takes a little more effort huh? especially with family.

  Your tree is beautiful, Ginger.  We don't put a tree up anymore since it's just the two of us, but we still decorate.  All my ornaments are very special to me.  I still have tiny hand mirror tree ornaments that I remember from our trees when I was a little girl.  The silver has peeled off but they sparkle when the light hits them.  I was with my mother when she bought them in the 5&10 cent store. 
  This little house is about 40 years old.  I made it in a ceramics class when I was a teenager.  It's moved with me to at least 10 homes since then.  Santa was a gift from my son, about 10 years ago.  I really should comb his beard..lol.

  Lucy ....yes, i understand....it seems at time that everything should be perfect like a Polaroid....people and places and times......and yet...they are not.....and we are left with a bittesweet taste.....
  
  Thats why Xmas is also a highly stressful and depressing time for some...its the load of expectations that carries on that is too much to fullfill.
  
  I answered to Infernal's post about the tradition of kissing under the mistletoe....i told her i really dont care for it but yes, you can bet this year will be different...lol...

  Unless, you are like my ex  FIL......the poor guy had to decorate all the house and the patio and the trees outside the house because my ex MIL was a very tiny and short lady and she coudln't reach anything ..he is a tall guy and so ...he was the designed one to go around with the decorations....lol...

  Awesome job Ginger!  I love a Christmas tree, whether it's done as artfully as yours or a small child has given it a go.  I doubt I'll have a tree this year due to puppy presence, but perhaps we can still do stockings and other festive things.

  Ginger ... well, we don't have our tree up at all this year.  The outside plants (banana tree & 2 other small trees) had to move in and that left us with no room ... and dad is being all anal about "not hurting the trees" so he won't let me put ornaments on them either darn it!

  Oh, I know what you mean about the lethal combination of Xmas tree and puppies.......i had my share of it in the past.......two puppies and one kittie.....dont make me remember the disasters that took place.....lol...
   
  But the puppies grew up and the kittie too...i dont have any of them anymore...they all passed away.... :-(
   
  My dog is well - Xmas tree - behaved.....he loves to stare at the ligths ...he rests his head on my lap on the couch and both of us get hypnotized........lol...

  We put up a real tree here, and we haven't gotten it yet.  My oldest is coming home tomorrow night just for a day so we can shop and put up our tree.  it's been pouring cats and dogs rain the past few days and tonite is supposed to get cold and have sleet, freezing rain and maybe some snow, so we have to play it all by ear.

  wow that is serious xmas decorations ginger, i put my tree up otha day, its a real 1 so my house smells like a forest,iv blue snow flake lights with red berry lights with silver and red violet tinsel and bubbles, i will try to take a pic to post,

  Piet.....oh, i love that snow on your window......you know...when i had my home (we live in an apartment now) i used to go really crazy with the fake snow on all the windows.....i mean...all over the windows...it would take me days to scrap it off from the glass but it was worth it...lol...
  
  Here in Teaxas we dont get to see much of it, you know....but one year we got so lucky to have a real snow storm right on Xmas day....so beautiful.....

  My window is still bare compared to the Christmas decorations I see.
  But we will have a tree and little houses. The girls will get their own tree
  in their room to decorate with wooden figures.
  I was used to spending X-mas alone. Just watching movies.
  Now, I'm looking forward to spending it with Jo and the girls.

  Piet......i know what you mean....my last 3 Xmas have not been that great....for two years i didn't even had my daughter with me...i was at the lowest of the low......i felt so lonely and homesickness hit me like a hammer...
  
  Last Xmas what helped me go through has been my wonderful online best friend....and - honestly - the other good friends i had here at SC.....i don't know what i would have done without him (and them)...... 
  
  But now i am looking forward to finally have a special somebody to kiss under that mistletoe......:-)
