It started a few weeks ago as a "cough headache", a mild dull pain that lasted for a second any time I coughed or sneezed or strained in some way, and always appeared in the same spot, behind my right eye somewhere.

I started going to a chiropractor. He didn't have any confidence that he could get rid of the headache but he seemed to be doing me good anyway. I think people need to get chiropractic adjustments now and then to stay the way you're supposed to be.

I described it to my GP and he didn't even think it was necessary for me to see him. He said it didn't have any of the symptoms of a tumor, and that I should just exercise and watch my diet.

Then it advanced to become a chronic thing. I felt it even when I didn't cough. Same spot, intermittent, a minute on, a minute off, always mild, just a pressure. I read about headaches on the internet.

It fit most of the description of a "new daily persistent headache". Never goes away. Is mild. Started at a specific time after years of no headache. And the website said there's no cure, no treatment, just tough. Someone or other came up with some sort of treatment, blending a few medicines, but it hasn't stood the test of time or any other test either.

Browsing books on Amazon and reading people's book reviews, I came across something called Trigger Point Therapy. The concept is similar to acupressure. If you have a problem, it helps to find a spot to put pressure on.

I once had an acupuncture treatment with the needles. It made me pass out. Never doing that again.

You'd think that if there is a spot to put pressure on it would be the spot that hurts. But noooooooo. It's a different spot entirely. Somewhere in one of the Amazon books it showed a description of the spot to press, to get rid of my headache. It's on the shoulder near the neck. You feel around for it by finding the spot that is sensitive to pressure, that hurts when you push. Apparently it has something to do with the location of several nerves.

So I took a stab at it, since my headache was pretty constant, and poked around for a sensitive spot in the area described, found the biggest one, and pushed on it for a while. The headache immediately went away. It came back a little, in a minute, I pressed on the spot more, and it went completely away. I gave the spot some attention. The headache hasn't returned. It's been a number of hours now.

So the early returns are good. What more can you ask, after just a few hours, than that you don't have your headache anymore. That's all you wanted. You want it, you got it. People on Amazon were calling these books miracles, basically. We'll see if it passes the test of time. I ordered the two books. There are plenty of pains to get, and plenty of spots to push to get rid of them.

I had read, long ago, that if you press the web of your hand, near the thumb, it gets rid of a headache, or if you press the area on the back of your head under the bone, that works too. But I tried them and it didn't help one bit. I'll stick with that shoulder spot from the trigger point books.

Yes, I have a a book on lots of these pressure points.  Another known area that relieves tention and headache is beetween your thumb and forefinger (the web) massaging that also will relieve a headache and tention.  You don't think the Doctors are going to agree with any of this do ya?  They'd lose way too much money!  Glad your headache went away!  :)

I don't know all the spots, but I know when I have a toothache, I squeeze my earlobe really hard.  Sometimes I can find "pain spots" that feel like bruises almost, and if I can reach them (like on my back) I massage them.  I also do the foot-rubbing thing, but I think I read you have to be careful of your liver or something.....also, I put light pressure on my closed eyelids (with a cold cloth over them) for migrains.

Nope. The only ones I vaguely remember from martial arts class are those that cause unconsciousness, extreme pain, whiplash or cardiac arrest.

I guess with the last one you'd be completely pain free after a little while...

I missed this, I hope you didn't think I don't care anymore. I saw that you're not updating, I hope you're fine. In good health or just busy with another website where you find a lot of people to amuse you.
I missed greeting you a happy birthday last nov 17. Well hope you had a happy celebration. I don't know why that info sticks to me, I'm usually forgetful about dates. But I guess you're special. :)

Take care of yourself mister. hope to be talking to you soon.
