Olia LOVED Disney World! She was so excited to go on our vacation. She counted down the days everyday the week before we left. She looked on the web for pictures of Disney World. I kept trying to explain to her what she would experience. She certainly understood the descriptions of the amusement rides like roller coasters, etc. But it was difficult to explain the interactive presentations and the other type rides. We rode First Class and Olia told us that she never wanted to ride coach again. I guess she likes the good life. She kept telling us that it was better to go First Class because we got free sodas and free snacks. Olia had the window seat and loved looking out the window while flying.
I had forgotten to mention to her that we had to go on a Disney transportation bus to take us to Disney. I guess she thought we were landing in Disney World! Olia loved riding the bus and seeing all the palm trees. She kept clapping her hands and saying, "I'm SO excited!" The weather was so nice in Florida.
After we arrived at the hotel, we got on a bus to take us to Hollywood Studios(formerly named MGM studios). It was late afternoon and Olia wanted to go on the roller coaster and Tower of Terror. I sat out of those rides. Dan took the train to Florida so he didn't arrive until the next day. We watched a great light and water show in the park. Olia was mesmerized by the light show! Renee bought Olia a moving light necklace and she loved that too! She said that Disney World was nothing like she had expected. She kept telling us that it was the best vacation ever! Olia kept saying, "I'm SO excited!" and "I LOVE Disney World!" Most people take their children to Disney when they are very young. There were so many babies and so many strollers. I don't think that kids can really appreciate Disney until they are older. We did take our bio kids when they were little, but they really enjoyed it much more when they were older and they remember those vacations well. Olia was never tired in Disney World. My feet felt like they were falling off, but Olia was always raring to go and eager for the next ride or show! She wanted to experience all that Disney had to offer. Olia and Renee both had to have mouse ears so they chose silver sequined ears and wore them every day! The second day we met up with my sister's family. They didn't purchase theme park tickets for the first day. Olia was so excited to go on the rides with her cousins. The girls all wore their mouse ears and were all having such a good time together. Olia used body glitter on her face and neck so she glittered in the sun! The second day we went to Magic Kingdom. Olia was enthralled! Of course, she recognized all the Disney characters! Cinderella is her all-time favorite. She doesn't know it but I am going to buy her a Cinderella Barbie for Christmas. I want her to have it as a keepsake from her trip. She doesn't play with her Barbies anymore, but I think she would love displaying the doll. Olia's favorite rides were the roller coasters! She said that Tower of Terror and the Rocking Roller Coaster in Hollywood Studios were the best rides. She went on both of them several times. She went on all of the roller coasters in Magic Kingdom at least twice. The park was so crowded. This is one of the busiest weeks of the year, but it was when Renee had off from PSU. I am trying to build as many family experiences as possible for Olia because Renee will graduate college in a year and a half and she is thinking of working for the Department of Defense and teaching in a foreign country for a few years after graduation. On the third day, Olia wanted to go to Blizzard Beach, a water park in Disney. Dan and I didn't think it was really that warm because it was in the mid-seventies, but Renee promised to go on the water rides so we headed over to the water park. What we didn't know was that Blizzard Beach was not included in our park tickets and the cost would have been an additional one hundred and eighty dollars. We decided not to go in. Olia was really disappointed because she had read the brochure and watched the Disney promo at our Disney Hotel. She had worn her bathing suit and was so geared up for the water rides. I felt really bad, but the cost wasnot something we had figured into our formula and we thought the girls would have only gone on the rides for a short time because it wasn't that warm out. We headed over to Animal Kingdom and rented a locker to put all of our towels and bathing suits in. Olia told us that she wanted us to move to Florida near Disney World!
