Its timefor me to come out of denial. Its time to come out of hiding. I had a lucky run these last three years but this is the end of it.

I have a terrible.. painful.. DEEP cavity in one of my upper molars and it refuses to be ignored.

This it it for me my friends. I won't be able to evade the dentist this time. I don't have the strength for it! No! My tooth feels like its gonna break into two. I'm falling apart! I can't chew from that side.. its horrible!

The worst thing is, it was fine till yesterday.. I didn't feel anything.. but today.. today suddenly I cant chew!!!!! Its a conspiracy!! They won't let me live, those evil dentists. My time is up. Theres no more running away from this!! I don't want to give up though.. NOOOOOOOOO!!

Paranoid, did you say? Paranoid?

Last time I went to the dentist, three years ago, my mum had forced me into it. As I lay in the dentist chair thingy, he walked in all grumpy about having his taxes increased or something. He kept cribbing about it. I gave my mum the 'look'.. I instantly knew this would not go well!! He filled up a syringe of local anasthesia to numb my gums.. ' You won't feel a thing!' he said. LIAR!! LIAR!!!!!! He gave me three injections in my gums and asked me to wait it out for ten minutes until they kicked in. I'm a brave girl.. I didn;t as much as flinch while he gave me the shots! But ten minutes later.. I still had my sensations intact. Not numb, nope. 'Strong, eh? hehehe' he said. DOG! He then gave me two more shots.. in my mouth! Still no effect. The SIXTH one, he snapped in two while the needle was still in my gum. HE BROKE THE NEEDLE IN MY GUM! 'Oops.. sorry.. hehehehe'.. and with that he gave me a seventh shot. I waited another ten minutes.. still not numb. Terrified, but not numb! He then proceded to do the filling anyway since the anaesthesia wasnt working. I felt the ENTIRE thing. All the pain!! Just as I was leaving his clinic, the shots kicked in and my mouth was lopsided for the next two days!!

So I had seven shots.. one broke in my mouth.. still felt all the pain.. AND had my mouth lopsided for the next two days.

And you know what else? The same day I fell sick with a terrible high fever that was extrememly painful when it was rising or going down. I had that fever for a week. It was so bad that I called my dad and cried on the phone! He was away on a work trip but abandoned midway and came back home!! I whined so much about the pain that my mum got tired of it. I made my sis wait on me a lot. See.. it affected my WHOLE family. And I also missed my favorite festival due to this.. I was sick for a week!!

And now.. I gotta go to a dentist.. AGAIN! WHY ME, GOD? WHY ME?? What have I ever done to anybody??

I may have written about this before.. I'm sure I have.. but you see I'm just TRAUMATISED!

Save me tooth fairy!!

Don't be a baby Dame, take your medicine like the rest of us haha.. Not laughing at you really, the dentist isn't a nice place to visit.............good luck.

I hate the dentist too. But sometimes you just gotta go. I think you got sick because that was just too many shots of novocaine. Ouch. I've had some shitty dental visits, but nothing like that.

You need to make sure you find a better dentist. Ask your friends or someone who they see. Because if you had less shots that actually worked when they were supposed to, you wouldn't get sick and you wouldn't feel it when he drilled.

It still sucks, but it's tolerable. So just find a better dentist. I know they exist.....

    Good luck.

Dame dear whether you like it or not, you have to go to the dentist, the toothache in itself is not good. Toothaches are something I totally dread, so please fins a good dentist and get rid of the teeth. It's gonna be worth it.

Im sure there is a good one somewhere, let's hope :)

DD, well I hope all works out for the best here ... but I can understand your apprehension about dentist visits!  Very traumatic.  I'd have been up and out of that chair when the needle broke, more properly, I'd probably have ended up punching my dentist (tee hee hee, it wouldn't have been the first time either).  My issues with the dentist are nothing much that can be helped, unless I go deaf.  Usually the anestesia puts my nerves out so I don't feel anything, but I can still HEAR all the equipment.  So I lay there going 'Oh GOD, what is THAT slow wheezing drill gonna do?!'  'Holy crap that one is loud and really fast sounding!'  'Why is that one slowing and stopping and going again!'  'Oh crap, is that suction?  No it's the water rinse ... oh GOD that's cold on everything that isn't numb!'  'Oh should I have heard that crack ... what was that crack ... was that supposed to crack ... OMG he just broke my mouth!'  So I tend to turn the TV volume up (they have 'em on the ceilings) to the point where they usually comment about what I'm watching because they can hear it.  Nothing worse for me than to hear the dentist and assistant laughing, at which I think 'OMG WTF did they do to me?' and then realize oh, duh, they can hear what I'm watching.

So, good luck to you, I hope one shot does it this round!

It's a necessary evil going to the dentist....I went once about 5 or 6 years without going and when I did....boy was I in for a surprise ....13 cavities and one root canal.
Now I go at least once every year or two.

Hi DD - I know I havent commented much lately, but I have been reading you.So its about time i get my commenting shoes back on again.
About 3 years back i last went to the dentist with a similar problem. One of my fillings had lifted and i couldnt chew or anything on that side.So I went to the dentist and he tried to take it out and all he did was crack the damn thing. So I had to see a surgeon to have ot surgically removed. That was not fun.The high didnt last long enough for it to have been worth it.I did get the tooth in a glass case which i still have though.
You should be ok - you are a strong girl

cj: Oh crap.. see how many instances there are in this page itself of dentistry gone wrong?? I'm telling you its conspiracy!! A necessary EVIL thats very evil!! See how we've all been tortured by the dental people! ANd hey.. its alright if you're not up to commenting sometimes.. I know you're around..and I've been reading you too so I know you've been having a shitty time! hehe.. how long before MSCB leaves?

I'm almost in the same boat you are. I have two teeth that need attention and I just haven't gone in yet! One of them broke awhile ago (I blogged about it) But it's never hurt, so I just ignore it since it's way in the very back where I can't see it. And a month or so ago, I had a filling fall out of another tooth. And that one is sort of hurting off and on, so I know it's only a matter of time before I HAVE to see a dentist.

I'm not looking forward to it either! I hate it. But if you do it, then maybe that will shame me into doing it too? :-P

e_t: when that tooth of yours had broken, mine had too.. remember?? And I had just taken your advice and sawed it a little with a nail filer.. its never hurt so I just ignored it. But now with this tooth.. I HAVE to go as well. Yep I'm doing it. We have to be strong Kyle.. we must do it!!!

Oh, man, I hate to go to a dentist. But the problem is, there's not much worse than a raging toothache or losing a tooth.

I think I'd look for another dentist, though.

My God baby girl, I knew nothing of this or I wouldn't have left it happen ! Damn lady don't go with the pain let it be known. I need you to keep your pretty smile, it makes everybody happy, no kidding. Something so simple, just the flex of a few facial muscles can make so many people relax and be at ease. Yup , might sound like alot but you contribute alot more then you know.
  • diabolicdame said on Nov 24, 2008....

btv: Yes I'm on it.. looking for a new dentist! Certainly!! Loose a tooth at 21.. oh my! There can't be much worse than that!!

Cman: You always make feel better when I'm in pain! hehehehe.. I'm smiling anyway.. toothache or not.. and I shall get this fixed soon!!     :-)
