Talk about heat wave, its been rediculous, no rain last night to cool things down.  It hit 43 degree's here yesturday.  Along with the humidity thats damn freaking hot! I think I had two showers and one bath to keep cool.

Anyway, a restless sleep last night, very restless, its difficult to sleep when its so hot. Something FELL on my husbands face while he was sleeping this morning, something brown and small, something that would make him jump out of bed.....

HB Has an irrational fear of spiders being on his arm or face, (did I actually say irrational? woa, freak) anyway, this THING dropped on his face, all he could see in the dark was a brown shape moving side to side up to the end of the bed.  SPIDER!!! AACCCKKKK

In the nicest and calmest voice only just a little tainted with concern he woke me up "babe, wake up, time to get up, come on" I rolled over having felt like I had just gotten into a deep sleep (weird freaking dreams mind you)

Its only 0530?? why do I have to get up? then I saw him pulling the sheet off the bed, checking under his pillows.. fear on his face.... damn! I'm up already! I always think of snakes ~ which we have had in the bedroom too, just little cuties, tree snakes in the wrong place.

Whatever it was he couldn't find it... so I went to the kitchen turn the kettle on then walked back to the bedroom, put the light on and started looking for this spider... then I saw it on the floor!

It was a fucking tree frog! A brown one, they're called something like a speckled tree frog or some such.  Anyway I picked him up just as hubby had finished his ablutions... cupping it in my hand he sighed "Ohhh a frog!"

yup! a frog, a cute little frog, poor dehydrated frog, probably scared the living day lights out of it falling on your face... poor thing.

I promptly placed him outside in a vase that has water reeds in it on our balcony (left there with fresh water for such occassions) he seems okay, he'll live to tell the tale of the ugly hot thing he landed on, thats for sure.

So GOOD MORNING! freak, I needed more sleep.

Too late, just wrote a letter to our editor (local news paper) man if me as a dylsexic can pick to bits the journalistic lack of skill then the world's in poor shape media wise.
  • diabolicdame said on Nov 23, 2008....
You're dyslexic lucy? wow.. they need to redefine the term! and yes the world is constantly in poor shape anyway.. hehe..
  • Lucytorial said on Nov 23, 2008....

Here is what I have written thus, it has to be short or they won't print it.

Once again we see the extrordinary journalistic skills of the Gazette crew, does Fairfax headquarters know of the extreme quality of their Gazette journalists and editor in chief? Maybe we should put forward this little gem for an award.

Board Named ~ Was the Front page and follow on news item, in page two, read at all? was it proofed?

Regardless it would seem that the former Douglas Shire has been given the amazing opportunity to have three representatives on our new Advisory Board. Let us start with front page shall we? Correctly named Michael Bolt the representative of the Advisory Board for the former Douglas Shire. Page two, its Bolton (headline) never heard of this bloke before, he must have a private phone number too. Same page, last paragraph. Mr. Bold said the first meeting etc. Well I'm glad there is a Mr. Bold on the Advisory Committtee, strong name don't you think. Thank you Mr. Bolt, Mr. Bolton and Mr. Bold for your time and intellect.

Join me as I stand appluading the Gazette's wonderfully adept, talented and highly professional team, bringing and creating news for your toilet musings.

They probably won't publish it, then again I've had some amazing shit published about our local newspaper, they're a bunch of dip shits.  Seriously I'm no professional journalist but I don't get paid to know my stuff, if I can see this shit then why are they being paid at all.

  • diabolicdame said on Nov 23, 2008....
Lol.. oh my.. thats funny! How could they miss that?? hehehehehe.. I have a media friend and she does crap stuff like that too! But Bolton.. bolt.. bold is too much! lol.. I sure hope they print it! Atleast people will have something interesting and entertaining to read!!

Lucy, wow, well despite not being able to just go back to bed, hope you can either sleep in tomorrow or go to bed early tonight!  About the newspaper thing ... isn't that so frustratingly annoying when they can't even proof their own stories?  It drives me batty when I see that stuff in our local newspaper.  Plus, for me, it's easy to find that stuff, as part of my job is proofing documents for grammatical errors, consistency, flow, etc.  This is why here I sometimes get ashamed, lol, because I watch myself do SO many of the things I have to spot check for at work ... but I look at it this way, here, I get to cut loose.  I don't have to care about a few minor issues, as long as I make sense and I'm not completely flubbing the whole thing.  Go you for speaking up, whether they publish it or not I'm sure it'll be one of those things that gets passed around in horror, lol.

Hi Rc - nice to see you.  I love frogs - I think they are soooo cute!

We watch a programme here each winter called 'I'm a Celebrety, Get Me Out of Here!'.  It's in the Australian jungle Lucy!  The celebs are given different horrible trials over a 3 week period to do each day to get the food they eat.  Many times they end up in tunnels or in tanks of water looking for the wooden stars they have to collect and SOOO many times they have frogs dropped on them and I'm like, "oh careful, careful, mind the poor fwoggies!"  They're screaming like they just had a ton of maggots poured on them and yet, when it IS maggots - they're fine with that - eeeuuw!!
  • cuppajava said on Nov 24, 2008....
Well I can symapthise with the hot weather -as you know,we have been getting the presummer does of it ourselves.Hint - a cold bath or shower doesnt help - it opens your pores more and you perspire more.A lukewarm wash - that does the trick. Not too hot,not too cold.
An innocent little frog? I had one jump in through my bathroom window once  - pnly problem was that i was in the bath at the time and within a matter of seconds so was he.I Hightailed it out of there soooooooooooooooooooo fast. You see, there is a river/stream that runs through our complex and we have monkey, flat spider and frog problems all the time.Only thing is,these are the green frogs with the poisonous skin.SO I wasnt taking any chances. You should see them after we have had a lot of rain. They come out like its XMas time - but then thats revenge time for most people as they make pretty good roadkill !!

I'd have freaked out big time!!!  Running in circles, screaming like a banchee .... but then that's how I react to spiders too.
