Scholars have an unfair advantage if you want to become a doctor. They soak up information. They like to read and learn. They have the advantage in getting higher education degrees. It's their thing. It's not a chore for them. It's a pleasure. It's what they do.

Scholars are interested in everything under the sun. You want to know about pit vipers? You want to know about art history? You want to know about classical music? You want to know about the history of baseball? You want to know about the Franco Prussian War? No? Scholars do. They want to know all that and more. They are curious about everything. Why is shit brown? Scholars want to know.

You got a kid who keeps asking you why this, why that? The little brat who says "Why is the sky blue, mommy?" Congrats, you got a Scholar for a kid.

Strangely enough, there are lots of Scholars in the military. It is supposed that Scholars like the military because it lets them travel the world and have experiences they wouldn't otherwise have.

I'm thinking Shakespeare was a Scholar with Sage influence. I'm thinking Darwin was a Scholar. Collect all that crap in the Galapagos and classify it. Scholar.

I'm thinking that William F Buckley Jr is (was?) a Scholar. Ever listen to him talk? He had his own tv show and seemed so Scholarly on it. If he is no longer alive, maybe he's better off dead. He'd want to kill himself knowing what happened to America's Republican conservative movement. He used to be one of the leaders of the conservative Republican movement until it got taken over by assholes like Bush who aren't fit to shine Buckley's shoes and who are anti-Buckleys in the sense that Buckley was a brilliant man, and Bush is a fuckin moron. Bush is no Scholar, that's for sure. He's a stupid lying putz.

Scholars like to stay neutral. Note that Buckley took liberal positions when he decided they were correct. For example, the man who was, at the time, the leading conservative in America, came out strongly in favor of legalizing marijuana because he knew it was absolute bullshit to criminalize it. He was right, of course, as all intelligent people find self evident. Go throw all beer drinkers in jail you fucking morons. Throw all jazz musicians in jail you fucking morons. The criminalization of marijuana is an ignorant crime against humanity. Self evident. All opposed are morons who have no conception of what it means to be an American and to believe in freedom. The freedom to smoke marijuana is a gimme, a no brainer, just like the freedom to have a beer. All opposed are absolute idiots with no judgment at all. They are Ashcrofts.
