Do you remember "Schoolhouse Rocks" - the commercials that ABC used to play between cartoons on Saturday morning that taught us things?

I learned the preamble to the constitution this way, I learned how a bill becomes a law, I saw "Conjunction Junction", and different times tables for math; this was a very memorable part of my childhood.

Tomorrow, I am going to see these "songs" performed live on stage - HOW COOL IS THAT?  Yes, I suckered a friend of mine who is my age to coming with me and we will probably be the only adults there without children, but both of us are incredibly excited about seeking this show.

OMG!   I know what you are talking about!  Not for the reason you might think, but I had a relationship with a "cool" guy with no real "home" when these were the norm on tv, and I so remember being at his sister's house early in the morning where we "crashed."   Every time I think of "I'm just a Bill, on Capitol Hill"     I can see my cool, long-haired dude having coffee, rubbing my knee on his sister's couch, just before he drove me home-----while I wondered if he would ever come back.....

Sorry, not the purpose of the post, obviously, but I sure remember the kiddies watching it on a Saturday morning!  Great, informative cartoon education!)

Wombie!!  LOL - that's an interesting way to know it.  I know the entire song and will probably be singing right along with the performers today - will tell you how it went!

Update - it was a very cute show - tailor made for kids 6-12 years old so it was perfect for my maturity factor this morning.  Plus, because I am on some lovely pain killers for my Sinusitis, it was very lovely..... For those in the schoolhouse know:  they did:  I'm just a bill, A noun is a person, place or thing, Conjunction Junction, Adjectives, Interjection, Interplanet Janet, The Preamble, The 5 x table (or hide and seek), Elbow Room, and a few others which are escaping my tylenol #3 addelled mind....

FG, wow, that would be SO cool to see.  I don't remember them as commercials, I thought it was like a half hour show or something like that, but hey I could be remembering wrong.  They were always SO fun to watch and then afterwards I'd think to myself 'Wow, I actually learned something ... and it was fun!'  lol  Glad you enjoyed the show, even if you were in a drug induced state.

Hey Hegemone!!! How ya been?  Well, they were like "interstitials" , you know, about three minutes or so between the bugs bunny and the scooby doo...

Gotcha, they just always seemed longer ... but then again didn't it seem like EVERYTHING took longer when you were little?

Hell Yea! Hege - remember how long the school year was?  Now, September to June seems like a blink of the eye....

It's odd that we can learn and remember anything put to music! I love this post!

Thanks Santax - I learned the Greek Alphabet (for a fraternity initiation) by singing them - yes, I said fraternity - there were two co-ed fraternities on my college campus.
