It wasn't their fault, but one of my diabetes medications has been hung up at the pharmacy since last Thursday.  Thank heaven I don't wait until the last day to get my medicine refilled.

This particular prescription had to be given refill approval by my endocrinologist.  Somehow, some way, it got shuffled into a stack of papers on a nurse's desk.  The pharmacy always faxes the authorization and then they fax it back.  I had waited over the weekend to even think about picking it up and was surprised that it wasn't ready.

It was up to me to track it down and ask pretty please, because I'm almost out.  They were very apologetic, but that sort of thing really stresses me out.  It shouldn't, but it does.  I've never skipped a dose and I don't want to find out what would happen if I did.

A few minutes ago, I confirmed with the pharmacy that my little renegade prescription is ready.  Now, I can relax.  My endocrinologist always makes the refills last a year.  So, I'll be stress free on that for a while.

Sorry for the mix-up.  It sure is a pain to keep up with prescriptions even when they don't mess up!  Mr. W is always frustrated because "he will be taking these pills for the rest of his life---so why can't he get more at a time instead of always having to deal with the pharmacy so often.  And it's never even two prescriptions at once that are needed.

    wombat,
Thanks.  They are a pain and you feel sort of helpless when there is a snafu.  I understand where Mr. W. is coming from.

Hello CreativeWoman, I have an older sister who lives with my mother in Baltimore, she is on several types of medications related to circulartory problems in her legs. She often tells me about the problems she has with Drs. and Pharmacists touching base. I know it must get pretty stressful at times and I'm not looking foreward to it as I get older. So far so good the only thing I ever take in an aspirin once in a blue moon. Take care CreativeWoman nice talking to you.

    CayenneMan,
I'm sorry your sister has to go through all the mix ups too.  It makes it hard sometimes because you are left with straightening it out and you have no clue about who has done what and where the paperwork is stalled.

I hope you stay healthy for many, many years to come.  :-)

    queen,
I hope it doesn't happen again either.  It's all ok now though.  I finally got the prescription, but I was almost out before I did.

CW, know how you feel there, I've had that happen before where they straight out lost my refill order and I was about out.  I know how it feels to skip my blood pressure meds, not pleasant, it throws me all out of whack for like three days ... so I'm pretty religious about refilling it at least two weeks before the current script is up.  I'm glad it all got straightened out for you!

    Hegemone,
Thanks.  It took six days to get my prescription straightened out.  That was cutting it close.  Sounds like you have a good plan.
