Let’s talk a little bit about skin care. No we are not going to talk about the latest goo to put on your face but we will address the basics of real skincare. Proper skincare is simple and does not involve a cabinet filled with the latest miracle lotions and crèmes, although there are many great products out there to help. But our skin is a reflection of our health just like our hair, eyes and fingernails are. There is almost nothing that can replace good health for beautiful skin. The two most basic things we can do for the health of our skin is plenty of sleep and moisture. Lets start with sleep first. When we look at anybody one of the first things we can notice about them is if they are tired. We have a hard time concealing this from anyone. Our eyes start to droop, lines become a little more obvious but we are lacking that ‘’alive look’’. Many products will help mask this tired look but you can still tell the person is tired. The answer is simple if you want your skin to look good get your sleep! We have all heard this and know it but somehow we forget this by watching the maze of new miracles that will make us look outstanding instantaneously. Just put a little of this on every night before… You have heard them but you will absolutely not look your best when tired from lack of sleep. Now we all know moisture is a woman’s best friend, well next to diamonds I suppose! But what many of us do not consider is that moisture starts with water. This sounds simple, and it is! Yes your skin can benefit from many of the moisturizers out there but we are doing the basics today. One of the simplest and most effective ways to rejuvenate your face is with a quick steam facial. A steam facial is easy to do in your home or even your office! Steam facials deep clean our skin and slowly add the moisture that we might be missing, in a natural way without any chemicals. How I do steam facials at home is I just microwave any container, a larger bowl is good, and we need a large area that will allow our whole face to get a little steam that contains some water. You do not need a lot of water just cover the bottom put it into the microwave, when you see steam you’re ready. Now be careful with this, steam can burn you so however you heat the water for steam remove it from the source of heat. If it feels too hot well it probably is, move your face away. Steam your face for about 3 to 5 minutes, just be careful. Now you can prove this to yourself very easily. On a morning that you did not get your sleep take a picture of yourself and if you are like most of us hide it well! On another day when you got a great night’s sleep do the steam facial and then take your picture. If you are like most of us you will look years younger with a healthy glow to your skin. The only real way to achieve this ‘’healthy glow look’’ is by being healthy. Yes there are many products out there that can perform miracles or at least appear to anyway but the fastest and simplest way to improve your skin is by these basics, sleep and steam facials.
