Okay, an abstract (or perhaps just stray) thought for the day.

Have you noticed since you started blogging here that you see the world differently?  I sure do.  Now instead of taking my surroundings for granted I tend to see them as if I were giving my friends here a tour of my life.

Our friend Skald often did this for us.  Taking her camera along with her as she went about her day.  I enjoyed her walks, the birthday celebrations and her visit with Polar and Quietone through the lens of her camera.

Something will happen during the day and one of my first thoughts is "hey, I bet this would be a good blog" instead of wailing "why me?!!".  In a way that's a blessing since even the tragedies become something to share and learn from.  I also love reading about other bloggers adventures or misadventures.  Makes my life less boring.

I always imagine that having bloggers eyes is a lot like being a small child, but with better communication skills.  Kinda neat, huh?

hey uni!  i agree.  i have always said that if you find yourself in a bad situation to roll with it and just enjoy that you'll have a story for later :)

fraggles - I'll have to see if I can dig up the post I did about getting my tattoo.  It's a prime example of turning hell into humor.

There is something about blogger eyes that has given me a far stronger voice in my real day to day experiences... my relationships as well.

Although I'm a fairly sunny person naturally, I think the sharing of lifes foibles, fun and fears allows us all to feel more confident in dealing with it and communicating it in our real lives.. outside of here.

Its also allowed me to make some friends I would never have made otherwise.
  • uniquely-ironic said on Nov 14, 2008....
Lucy - it does seem to make a person more confident and positive in their daily life.  Maybe it really gives us perspective to share and hear that someone else can relate to even the silly things.

Yes, I've met people here that I'm so glad every day that I did.  I can't imagine not having each and every one of my friends.
  • Lucytorial said on Nov 14, 2008....
You know... sometimes its even the voices that comment in a critical way too.  Not just the positive voice of understanding.  I've learnt a fair amount from peoples not so well meaning comments too.

As for friends here, it keeps me coming back every day, just in case they are down, or I am down I know for sure someone will understand.
  • uniquely-ironic said on Nov 14, 2008....
Lucy - yes, even the stinging comments should teach me something.  If nothing else that despite their stupid opinion that mine is just as valid.

I too often check in when I think someone might be feeling blue.  Of course I use this place and my friends here like a security blanket.
  • Lucytorial said on Nov 14, 2008....
ooohhh btw... David saw the package from you and said.  "What the hell has she sent this time" in a tone that can only be described as sardonic... when he saw they were lolly pops he sighed... said "you girls" bwa ha ha haa how funny is that!
  • uniquely-ironic said on Nov 14, 2008....
Lucy - LMAO!!!  I bet he thought it would be some obscene sex toy next!  Bwa ha ha ha.  Tell him that I promise not to get carried away. (I lie a lot)
  • Lucytorial said on Nov 14, 2008....
He knows..... he rolled his eyes, asked what do I want lolly pops for so I told him "Hon.. no they aren't lolly pops.. they are Tootsie Pops! completely different, get with the program"

He thinks we're totally fruit loops... man if you met my sister all three of us would totaly send him crazy!
  • uniquely-ironic said on Nov 14, 2008....
Well, if you ever want to send him over the edge, just send me a plane ticket and I'll sell some blood to get the cash for a passport. ;)

Actually, you should bring him along when you, me and fraggles "do" Hawaii.  We will need someone to mop up the nuclear fall out when we go partying.
  • Lucytorial said on Nov 14, 2008....
too true... only problem with that is he will film the whole thing.... vomit and all laughing his tits off then he'll edit that sucker and send us all a copy... requesting a bottle of finest liquor in return for not posting it on youtube....

    He's smart....
  • uniquely-ironic said on Nov 14, 2008....
ROFL [wipes tears from eyes]  Wouldn't be the first time I've been blackmailed.
  • Lucytorial said on Nov 14, 2008....
He did that to me about a year ago..... he filmed me.. nay encouraged me to flirt with some navy guys that were in town... I was not to tell them the guy with the camera was my husband..... man did they shit themselves when I finally told them... bwa ha haha
  • uniquely-ironic said on Nov 14, 2008....
Lord I love a Navy man!  They party like no one's business.

My sister still blackmails me to this day over what we call "the long stip tease".  Let's just say there was alcohol involved. ;)
  • Lucytorial said on Nov 14, 2008....
bwaa ha ha haa Navy boys are harmless, seriously I've had too much fun with men like that over the years.. even some american lads that dock in our main cities port (Cairns) they come up for a good time, they flirt, buy drinks, tell tales huge fun to be around and I have never once felt they were gonna put the hard word on.

Usually its their Captain keeps them in check.

Hmmm may have to encourage that tale to come out... your sister has an evil streak too I dare say... :-P
  • queenparanoia said on Nov 14, 2008....
oh yeah uniquely i know what you mean!!! things have change for me! i think i was better person because finally i have someplace i can show the real me... ;-)
  • uniquely-ironic said on Nov 14, 2008....
There was a small Navy base near the town I grew up in.  I have attended more than one party where the sailors got silly.

My sister evil?  Nah!  Well, except of course unless there's good potential for a story afterwords.
  • Lucytorial said on Nov 14, 2008....
Exactly.... she has sense.... good sense to help the tale come out slowly... over the years... just to remind you that you dear are positively corrupted!
  • uniquely-ironic said on Nov 14, 2008....
I've been "bad to the bone" since birth.  I helped my dad win a bet with a coworker and made the transistion from gambling to drinking and dancing shortly afterwords.

    She's sneaky, my sister. ;)
  • Lucytorial said on Nov 14, 2008....
what was the bet???? thats gotta be the very beginning hey... bad bad girl...

As I say no such thing as a bad girl, we're all good just some of us get caught.
  • uniquely-ironic said on Nov 14, 2008....
The bet was who would have their baby first.  I was a premie.  I think my dad got a case of beer or something.

Bad girls are just the good girls who get caught.

Love this post:  I am always finding a situation that causes me to think for a second about how it would make a good idea for a blog.  Now, just think how different that is from "before SC?"  What did I do with my "moments" before?

I have often gotten the feeling that I am a little nervous about putting myself out there, but I have discovered that since I can't seem to quit being here, that I am a more honest person than I ever thought I could be.

I am proud to say I have never been anything but honest here---good or bad.  It just wouldn't feel right even if you don't really "know" me.

And that has carried over into my personal life.  I am so honest I keep getting myself into trouble!  Now I never know when or how to embellish or keep my stupid mouth shut!

  • wishyouwerehere said on Nov 14, 2008....
I'm usually so damned quiet in real life that SC is a welcome outlet for me - I don't feel shy here because of the semi-anonymity, and it is very liberating!  I even think there has been some carry-over into my actual day to day.
  • Lucytorial said on Nov 14, 2008....
Wishy, thats interesting you say that, I'm the opposite, I'm getting a little less loud in RL because I can get it out here...
  • Hegemone said on Nov 14, 2008....
Uni I definitely hafta agree with you, seeing through blogger's eyes makes things differently.  I've started really appreciating things more.  Little things, enjoying the foliage change on the drive to work, animals, interactions with other people.  I just pay a lot more attention to detail, and I've found that I try to be a LOT more descriptive in what I say in RL.  Plus, it makes me a more pleasant person in RL because I come here and blog about whatever, gain some perspective, feel better and have a better grasp on how to handle something.  That or at least I know I can come here, have my mini explosion and I won't make a mountain out of a mole hill.  It's definitely something I'm glad I decided to start doing.
  • uniquely-ironic said on Nov 14, 2008....
wombie - come to think of it, life was a little bleak before I had SC to mind dump to.  I've spent a lifetime "oversharing" my random thoughts, so now I'm actually a little easier to live with since I have other outlets.

wishy - I would guess that there is some carry over.  I don't know how a person could really compartmentalize completely.

Lucy - so it's made you a "lite" version of yourself?  that makes sense though since you can spread some of those thoughts out a little further.

Hege - yes, you do start to appreciate things you might not notice once you really start looking, because you want to share your life.  As many have mentioned, the communications here seem to make us all easier to live with, better in many ways.
