OK, while this one is admittedly a self-administered wound due to copious drinking and other things, lying down for 45 minutes is hardly a substitute for a full night's sleep.

that said: using a TV as an alarm clock is kinda spiffy.

45 minutes? Forget it - I'd have to go back to bed! I would not be able to function.

    Silver,

My first paid job was as a runner for a major sporting event. Very early mornings and very late nights. After a week or so of this I was fading out in the trailer and this producer walks up to me and says:

"Sleep is for the weak and those with no willpower." I took the bait and got up and started walking around. But in my head I was thinking - what a dick!

Call me weak, but I love my 7-9 hours!

faithmatters: yeah, i think i'd probably have that same reaction myself. although i'd probably add a few choice words to it... :>

Hey are you having insomnia problems? I found out that taking a glass of milk before bedtime or a tablet of calcium fortified vitamin helps you to sleep more than eight hours.

Or you can try something I picked up in one of the ads here where you visualize a picture of a calm sea into your mind until your whole body is in a relaxed state and before you know it you fall asleep. Try all of the above and tell me what works, good luck!

    Sleep? What's that?

I have responded about the subject of insomnia on another blog, so let me just restate that I have been suffering from it since May. I finally got some sleeping pills from my doctor last week (Ambien) and am getting a lovely 8 hours of restful uninterrupted sleep!

I tried going without it on Friday night, big mistake since I had to be up at the ass crack of dawn for a meeting, and slept maybe an hour. I had only taken it the previous two nights, so I know it's not cause I'm already dependent upon it. :)

Unfortunately, I was also on prednisone, and I forgot that adds to my insomnia by revving my entire body so I feel like a rocketship ready to take off for the moon.

I took my last prednisone yesterday, so perhaps tonight I will try to sleep without the pills. Wish me luck!

i'm right there with you on the sleep thing, although i managed two hours...i think

FD: it's the whole "getting to a relaxed state" that's been proving problematic. work's been a major source of stress of late.

    [hugs alyss]

ajinia: glad to hear that you're getting something to help!

    zayda: thanks!

    [chugs the iced tea]

How do you manage? I need the recipes. I'm verrrry weak...even with 4 to 5 glasses of coffee per day.
I sleep 6 to 7 hours a day. Less than that I'll loose my concentration easily and can't do any activities without yawning :(. I need to reduce my sleep. There are things I need to do unaccomplished due to sleep addiction :( :(
  • silverwhisper said on Aug 22, 2006....
zayda: sorry to hear that. :<

ici: actually, i really didn't manage. my head hit the pillow last night around 10 or so. i actually slept until only 10 mins before the alarm this morning--for me, that's a record for the month.

Hello darkness my old friend ... I've come to talk to you again.

With my apologies to both Simon and Garfunkel, I wish the darkness would just shut the f*ck up at this point. I would really like to go to sleep.

Something's wrong...
As of the beginning of post it is currently 3:35 a.m. Pacific time and I am no longer in bed......maybe it's just insomnia, maybe it's the 3 coca colas that I had with a late dinner.....I'm not sure which.....but it is fueled by a little blurb I read on y...
okay this sucks, I never should have had that nap this afternoon now I'm stuck in darkness again with nothing but the noises of Saturday nightlife outside, I wish we had the money to party over weekends but unlike any other couples our age we have bills...
I've many friends older than me, some of them reaching 40 plus. They keep on telling me stuffs that I don't currently feel so I tend to disregard them....
