As of the beginning of post it is currently 3:35 a.m. Pacific time and I am no longer in bed......maybe it's just insomnia, maybe it's the 3 coca colas that I had with a late dinner.....I'm not sure which.....but it is fueled by a little blurb I read on yahoo news before I went to bed.

It said that Barrack Obama plans to hit the ground running with executive orders.....thats fine....that is nothing new......some I expect....stem cell research.....some abortion stuff.....no big surprise.

But then I see that he is considering reversing the executive order that has been the single best thing that has happened to our economy in the last few years.....Rising oil prices nearly toppled our economy......last I heard, somewhere in the neighborhood of 1500 trucking companies went under due to the cost of fuel.....inflation is on the rise due primarily to those fuel costs (inflation due to the mortgage crisis will be felt soon)

When Bush signed the executive order lifting the ban on drilling, the price of oil stopped rising (as I said it would) and subsequently when Congress backed him on it, oil prices fell like a rock! (as I said they would)

Reversing that order will be a huge mistake and a strike against the Obama administration.

I am really trying to get behind Obama.....but he is going to have to make smart decisions......I would encourage all of you to let your voices be heard and oppose that move....we are well on our way with changing our energy policy to a cleaner and non foreign production....but this move will have a massive effect on the price of oil.

It will give our enemies more money....take more out of all of our pockets.....and reduce our security.

It is now 3:57 a.m. and I am glad I got that out of my head!

I figure all the talk about collecting a dollar here and five dollars there was
a bunch of bull. He owes people and certain groups, like the environmentalists
who would rather see us riding mopeds than to be using oil and gasoline. It is
now payback time. There is a reason all our enemies around the world are
peeing their pants over him. He will be the best thing that has happened to
them since B.J. Clinton. I have been mulling over all that is lost for the last
few days as well. As soon as they pass the Fariness Doctrine, conservative
radio will be shut down and there will be no one leading those call in efforts.
Blogging and the internet will have to be shut down next. The oppression is
going to become overwhelming as the Marxist / Socialist carries out his
"mandate" to take our country into the dumper. People do not understand
the stranglehold he now has on our nation. God help us.

To be fair.....I think I heard that he opposes the fairness doctrine.....but that is yet to be seen.

I would rather see comments on this post stick to the issue that I wrote about though....I think it is far too important to ignore.

Even if they do not drill in Utah or where ever else that has been freed up for the option, that option should be in force to hedge against OPEC's actions.....they are simply trying to buy off American support of domestic drilling and energy production.

I will say something which I've said before, even though it's basically Thomas Friedman's idea:

Tax gasoline so that the price rises back up to near $4.00 a gallon. It's been proven that we will pay that amount in this country, and gas being as low as it is will just encourage us to fall back into our bad old habits -- causing an even bigger problem when gas prices do go back up.

The revenue from the tax will a) not go to our enemies and b) can be used to fix our crumbling roads and bridges and help invest in some alternative technologies.

Heh -- at the very least, maybe the revenue could be used to bail out Detroit hahahaha!

1500 trucking companies failed because of $4 a gallon fuel.....not a good idea.
  • ALIENated said on Nov 10, 2008....

If we do not drill and supply ourselves, it will go back to $4 + a gallon even
    without any tax.

I guess none of the liberals and democrats here are interested in this issue..........I hope Barrack Obama does the right thing here and leaves it alone.....if enough people are behind it, we could stop it.....I hope....e-mail your representatives and Obama and tell them not to reverse what Congress voted for prior to the election.

drilling in america has no bearing on the price of oil. We have so little oil here compared to how much we consume.
  • bloc said on Nov 10, 2008....
btw, you also insisted speculation was the cause. If you take enough guesses there will be a coincidence at some point ;)
  • D6fer said on Nov 10, 2008....
you are kidding right? It has very much to do with it.

oil prices are also sensitive to psychological factors, such as perceived threats to the sources or routes of oil supply.  Source

As I understand it, we have all kinds of oil under our soil and off our coasts.
Am I missing something? I read an article not long ago that said there was
huge amounts of oil under the northwestern states. Even more than they
    had once thought.

being sensitive to psychological factors and dropping continually because of a small change in an executive order are not the same thing.
  • D6fer said on Nov 11, 2008....
a small change? Congress voted on it as well.....they voted to drill....I guess they were just trying to get re-elected.
  • bloc said on Nov 11, 2008....
    you aren't making sense.
  • D6fer said on Nov 11, 2008....
what dont you get? Bush made the executive order in july.....that's when the fall began....it peaked slightly again just before Congress voted on it....then continued to drop again after their vote in September......yeah....that makes no sense.

You can't be honest about things you oppose can you?
  • bloc said on Nov 11, 2008....
correlation and causation are not the same thing. The global temperature has risen proportionally to the decrease in pirates in the world. This does not mean that pirates cause global warming.
  • D6fer said on Nov 11, 2008....
nice try......I'm not going there......I told you a long long time ago that this would happen if they even agreed to do it......I hope they start drilling immediately......it will drop even further.

We need oil below $50 a barrel.....Iran is hurting and will no longer be able to fund terrorism at their current level.

Low oil prices mean lower profits for oil companies.....you should love that!
