Yesterday Sweetie and I started our day much like many other weekend days.  Me getting up too early and making too much noise for her to sleep in.  I'm not sure why she doesn't yell at me.  I am annoying, though honestly I do try to be quiet.

We got hungry, so we went out for our traditional mother daughter breakfast at the local little restaurant.  They know us there so we seat ourselves.  Sweetie gets a whole or half order of french toast and a side of bacon, I get the kids breakfast, or if I'm famished the adult size one of bacon and eggs.  We discussed her school, friends, my work and a few other miscellaneous things before we got around to discussing what to do with the day.

One of the state's chain stores is going out of business, so we thought we might look there for some clothing that we were running low on.  We got there, and the game started.  I will see a cute sweater or something and say how cute it is.  She will roll her eyes and that's my clue that I've gone over the edge of fashionable. *sigh*  Then I'll see something she would look cute in and she'll sigh letting me know that no way in hell would she even try it on.  Then she fingers a piece of clothing and says "you'd look cute in this" and  I roll my eyes to let her know that I'm not going to risk exposing my pudgy middle in that thing.  She picks up something else that she's interested in and I say each and every time "well, you'd look good in that, but it's because you're young and skinny" just so that she doesn't forget.  After about an hour of torturing each other that way we decided to hit WalMart, land of old and young clothing delights.

We careened through the aisles for about an hour.  She got fluffy fuzzy pajama pants with tinkerbell on them, I got a green sweater.  At the check stand I snagged a couple of tins of breath mints.  I have this major personality flaw that does not allow me to leave small containers alone.  Out in the car we discovered that the tin has a little mirror built into it, like the type in lipstick cases.  Whooo Hoooo!  Who would have thought 97 cents could bring so much happiness.

A quick trip home because we agreed to accompany Bill to the mall.  We have gotten into the habit of eating there about 2-3 weekends a month.  Everyone gets food from some place different.  Mongolian Grill for Bill, Clam Chowder in a bread bowl for Sweetie, and soup and green salad for me.

Later that day Sweetie and I make a trip to Costco to see what is in stock.  I don't go there often since stocking 48 rolls of toilet paper has little appeal to me.  We discovered that you can buy theater tickets at a pretty decent discount there in quantities of two, so we buy two knowing that we are scheduled to see Madagascar 2 later that night. (took the price down to $7 instead of $10.25)  On the way home with cereal and yogurt we stopped by the grocery store to get the fixings for French Onion soup.

Sweetie is taking a cooking class at school and is going to make it for us.  I was a little staggered at the check out, but it's important to let her know that her cooking is a big deal to me too.  Back home to chop onions for so long that everyone in the apartment is crying.  Did you know that her receipe calls for dijon mustard, soy sauce, sherry and other stuff you might expect in the soup?  Neither did I.  Then I chop a bunch of fresh garlic for the cheesy garlic bread.  By now our apartment smells like heaven or hell.  We cook for another 1/2 hour and then sit down for French Onion soup with cheesy garlic bread and a roasted chicken. (I bought a deli roasted chicken)

We dashed off to the movies about 45 minutes later and enjoyed the movie before coming home and collapsing into bed until very very early this morning.  Now, it's time for some coffee and we will start a whole new day.

Sounds like a really neat weekend U-I.  I just wish I had my mom living closer so we could have little routines like that, but she's too far off to make a routine out of anything really.  : - /  I loved reading the part about you two clothes shopping, sounds very familiar, lol.  Ah well, time to get back to work for me!  Thank you for the enjoyable read during a monotonous work day Unique!

Hegemone - I really do treasure these little routines, especially the going out for a weekend breakfast.  It gives us time to talk about the issues that come up.  Yes, shopping is only for the brave when you have a teen.
