Whenever I make a trip to the local supermart, it's almost always difficult for me to maintain a budget. With so many things splurged around you screaming buy me buy me, you'd probably want to give in to all your buying binges.

So I usually let my wife do the budget shopping. If we're together, I try to pretend that I didn't see something I liked and pass through it as it it wasn't there. She would just laugh at me telling me to loosen up and give in to my food cravings once in a while.

I never really thought about it, but if there was a virtual supermart on the net, I'd probably go for it. At least, you could avoid the unnnecessary purchases by ordering directly those you only needed. And you don't have to make an effort by driving out to get it. It just gets to your doorstep delivered.

But hey that would take away the fun out of ripping the bag open and digging in into my favorite potato chips, korn kurls, or double chocolate chip cookies even before I put the half empty bag into the cashier's counter to be accounted for.

Moral lesson, never go to the supermart on an empty stomach. Or you'd end up indulging more on the snacks even before they reach the trunk in your car compartment. Which then do you prefer, virtual shopping or grocery shopping?

Thanks sigroid, you've made my day. Same goes for department stores, without a budget, we tend to buy more things than we really need. :-)

ReignboLOVE, who would you like to believe, are you referring to Jade? Are you the Starr she's talking about in her blog as moving out of her life. If you are, well she so misses you!

Our local supermarkets currently support on-line ordering and delivery.

I've never done it, but have neighbors who use this service on a regular basis.

Personally I like to go myself so I can select produce and meats and baked goods myself. But I'm bad with a budget and know exactly what you mean about going on a full stomach!

Whenever my husband or kids come grocery shopping with me, I always always always end up with extra goodies in the cart!

One useful tip I've read: Don't shop when you're hungry. It doesn't matter if you're shopping for food or non-food.

i love shopping specially at the hypermart supermarkets here in the philippines... but whenever that "buy me! buy me!" phrase starts running in my head like a voice enticing me to buy everything in a supermarket i counter it with the "stop me, stop me" chant i sing to myself... or else i'll end up emptying my atm card because i did not stop me picking up item after item... but it's nice to shop... it relieves you of stress... only to find out later that you are again stressed out because of overspending hahaha.

I enjoyed your comment sunsethue. As I skip the most dreadful parts of the supermart, where my fave items are located, my stomach says as I see the goods in passing "eat me! eat me!" and I just have to give in to my cravings.

I go back to the areas of biscuits, chocolates, and potato snacks, and I just insanely give in to my instincts picking up all that I ever wanted and rip open a bag for me to start munching on. My wife laughs at me telling me, I'm a kid at heart whenever we pass by those restrictive areas.
