Do you think Jesse Jackson's tears were for oppurtunities lost or for the historic moment at hand? In all honesty it looked contrieved and I'd like to think he finally joined the rest of us and GOT IT. What do you think?

I think he was standing with a large number of Americans at a very emotional moment in history.

Jesse always got it in his own twisted way.

Jesse has a lot of baggage by now and I am not sure why the tears. They may have been genuine but perhaps because of his own loss. Or perhaps because he did feel the historic significance of the night. I just know that mine were for living long enough to experience something I never thought I'd see. And they were real.

Maybe he was crying because it wasn't him that was making the victory speech.  He did say that he wanted to cut off Obama's thingie...

    Just a (cynical) thought.

Nah.....those tears didn't get me ...not even for one second....
I think it was only a theatrical show off......

Bet he was just thinking "Damn it, why not me? Why?"...

Hahaha Ginger I think I couldn't agree with you more. And as far as Jesse losing his so called Job.I'm still trying to figure out what his job is?

Booker T Washington summed Jesse Jacksons job up real well many years before he was even born.

"I am afraid that there is a certain class of race-problem solvers who don't want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public."

D6 beautifully put. I love that. Sounds bout right and probably even more for Sharpton. But what I love the most is that he didn't have to depend on any of these buffonary characters to get elected. He by passed them and they stood not by his side but in the crowd just like everybody else on HIS special day. To me this spoke volumes and it says so much about where we are going and who is REALLY who in this great country of ours.

Booker T was wise beyond his years!

It sure would be nice if people could separate the good from the bad and not group together solely because of race, party affiliation, gender, religion....etc.

I'm not one who's overly sentimental when it comes to Jesse Jackson or politics, however I am not cynical about Jackson's tears. Why? Because if you had lived through what he has, you'd probably be in shock to find yourself standing at the victory speech of a non-white President. No matter what else was going on. He has traveled a long road.
