Oh my God!!!! I'm being shipped off to bootcamp THIS MONTH!!! November 19th is the fateful day. It's the day after my Dad's birthday. I'm so sad and relieved and scared all at the same time. I'm so sad cause I'm going to miss ALL of you SOOOoooOOOooO much. Everyone of you that has commented on my posts and shown me love I send you a heartfelt hug*. In a way it's so weird cause I think of you SoulCasters as like an extended family. Please know that I will be thinking of all of you while I'm getting beat up, yelled at, and spit on. I'm sure you will give me strength to endure all the crap of bootcamp. I'm so anxious and freaked out. I wasn't expecting to leave so soon. I feel so close to so many of you that I can almost not imagine not talking to you all for nine whole weeks. I'm going to miss my family and friends, and my cat "Meatball". It's a whole new life for SlickNick. I know I've heard a lot of sick Navy jokes from my friends so I'm just going to be a good sport about it and tell you all a few that I heard. Ok now with the Navy jokes.
Do you know why the Navy uses powdered soap......
Because its harder to pick up in the shower!
100 Seamen get on a boat and 50 couples come back....
I'm done. I'm sure you all have a ton more to make me out to be a homo for joining the Navy. I must say though that the other military jokes for the other services aren't much better so I might as well roll with the punches. Anyway seriously I love you all so much. I hope that you fare well while I'm away. I will blog and message everyone right up until Novemeber 18th so I'm not gone yet... *Tears up* I told myself I wouldn't cry....*BWHHAAHHAHAHAHHHA*Crying eyes out.....

from someone who has been through boot camp (in the army), have fun with it. It's very short, and for me it was one of the better parts of being in the military. Oh, and the best strategy is to not stand out ;)

Aaw hey Nick - I'm gonna miss you matey!  There may be a lotta jokes about the Navy but in my eyes, they are brave bloody men and women that are often unsung heroes.  Everyone remembers the ground force 'doing their thing' but what about the Navy that keeps them in arm, food supplies and defending the ports?  You are joining such a fine force Nick.

Just remember though - when in shower - see powdered soap - run like hell ha ha!

Keep your nose clean, your head down and you'll do just fine my friend.

    I'm on annual leave 17, 18, 19 Nov so I'll have a few beers for ya on 18th ;-)

Gosh I'm having a rough time with this. Saying goodbye to my friends and family is the hardest thing I've ever had to do. These are the people that saved my life so many times when I thought I wasn't strong enough to live anymore. There are people here that I owe my very life to because without their kind words I may have done something I would have regretted. Just today I got an email from my ex-wife. I don't know how she found out but she told me she knew I was leaving soon. She told me a long list of all the stuff of hers she thought I had. There was no good luck, no take care, no go fuck yourself, nothing. Me being the kind gentleman I am told her I didn't think that I had her things but I would look for them this weekend. I told her that I was disappointed that she didn't even wish me luck and all she cared about was her stuff. I said that I didn't know why I carried a torch for her. There is a big part of me that would love to twist her head off and shit down her throat but there is still a small part of me that cares. And that's the part that needs to go away. I will never understand someone who can be so cold and emotionless toward someone they loved for almost a decade. I've been down this road so much that it has worn a path in my being. It's time to move off the trail to new feelings and experiences with people who are worthy of my love.

nick! i am fairly crafty, we can pop the eyeballs outta the severed head, i'll add a little spray paint, a little glitter glue, and you'll have yourself 2 new christmas ornaments, or you can hang em from your rearview mirror <evil laugh>, and yo...if you're strong enough to simply twist her head off i know of a pair of hairy testicles that need to be hangin from my rearview! roflmao!

what an effin rotten cunt to be so cold.                                                                      you will soon be heading down a new road. blazing a new nick trail. experience new things.  focus on your excitement and take the slick track ;)

here's a fun little thing i like to do...make new memories... sometimes a moment will catch me and i close my eyes (sometimes i make everyone wth me close their eyes too)  and i announce...."I'M MAKING A NEW MEMORY AND STEAMROLLING OVER THE OLD ONES!!!"

here's to steamrollers, severed heads, new roads, and slicknick

What me bitter? haha! I sure hope you are doing better than you were frags. Lord knows you deserve to be happy after all you've been through.

You're shipping off for Great Lakes over winter? Ouch! Try to keep warm.

Have you ever played an instrument in your High School Marching Band or scored high in the ASVAB? If yes, you're probably headed for a drill company. Recruit Drill Companies do bootcamp twice as fast so they can train to perform for bootcamp graduations. I hope for your sake you're in a Regular Marching Battalion.

You'll probably have to wait for your company to be formed - it can take a few days sometimes but don't worry, they'll get you standing recruit watches. Sleep when you can.

Do you know how to tie a square knot, a clove hitch, a round turn and two half-hitches, a taunt-line hitch and a bowline?

Have you memorized the 11 General Orders for a Sentry? Or your Recruit Chain of Command?

Recruit Firefighting training and the teargas are the two biggest concerns in bootcamp. One's smoky and wet, the other's not that bad. Just don't touch your face after leaving the chamber until you've had a chance to wash up.

Just remember to pay attention to what's going on around you, to stand your scheduled watches, keep your uniform, bunk, locker and berthing compartment neat, your boondockers shined and your face shaved - then you'll have nothing to worry about.
