Yesterday I was at the drugstore downstairs buying some snacks before our Warcraft raid.  I cruised the Halloween candy table just in case they had anything good that I'd overlooked last time I was there.

There was a box that caught my eye; it said something like "ready-to-give" and I wanted to know WHAT was ready to give.  So I took a closer look and saw that the name of the candy assortment was, in French "gâteries de sorcière."  Probably some kind of crappy cheapskate candy that they were trying to make all "spooky".  Shrugged and walked away.  I was halfway around the other side of the table when my brain kicked in.

"Witch's treats??"  Sure enough, on the English side of the box that was exactly what they had called it.  I bet there aren't even a dozen people in this town who would've understood why that was funny!

Either someone in marketing is really dumb and didn't realize the English translation would play like a joke, or somebody snuck in a little inside joke for us Anglos!  Either way, it brightened my evening :)

One time in a Chinese buffet restaurant...and quite a tasty one at that with all the varieties of dishes....during the meal I look towards the wall and see a door that was obviously an emergency exit (as required by law) and it had a computer printed sign on it that was certainly translated by one of the Chinese owners....
    The sign read....

    ......................" PANIC DOOR "...................

Don't you love it when you find bloopers like that !
