John Edward and Lisa Williams have television shows during which they hear from spirits of people who have died. There is life after death and it is possible to communicate with the so-called dead. Once we accept that physical death isn't the end, reincarnation becomes a possibility. Reincarnation simply means we come back here again.

Those who realize that Lisa and John are not frauds and are not delusional, that they in fact are exactly what they claim to be, are somewhat in a position similar to what we were told about Christopher Columbus. Supposedly, when Columbus was alive, most people thought the earth was flat, and Columbus was one of the few who knew that it was round and you can't fall off the end of the earth. These days, most people believe the fiction that "you only live once" and after that's done, you fall off the end of the earth and die.

As we now know, the Columbus story was made up by Washington Irving, and in Columbus's day it was common knowledge that you can't fall off the end of the earth because the earth is a globe. It was an age of exploration, and there were many besides Columbus who were aware of the true shape of the earth, sailing every which way and not falling off the end of anything.

There are also many today who know that reincarnation is real, and that there are other places to live besides the earth. Your own parents, or grandparents, or great grandparents, are there now, alive as you are.

The fact that it is possible to receive information from "the dead" doesn't mean that every single communication from a spirit medium is true. It means that some of it is true. I'm going to present some information that might be true, and I'm going to present it as fact, though I know it might be fiction. I just think it's boring to keep repeating disclaimers with every sentence. So I'll present it with confidence and authority, but understand that I realize it might be all wrong. Either it's "just a story" or it's true, one or the other. I think it is worth hearing. I think it might be true, or close to it. The source of this information is the spirit world speaking to spirit mediums or "channels", people who, like Lisa Williams and John Edward, are attuned to communication from "the dead".

I'm glad you checked in. I also put a lot of my posts on Myspace and get a lot more readers but fewer comments. Myspace readers generally don't comment at all, except for one or two people. I just see the number of hits go up. I got 100 hits on Myspace this week and my total is approaching 16,000. It was suggested that a lot of bots go to Myspace blogs but I don't think that is applicable here. I think it is that I'm positioned on a popular blog that a lot of people check out, Mensa Blogs, and I probably have a reputation of not being nearly as boring as most of the others who write Mensa Blogs. I tried reading some. Yuchh.

There are certainly other planes of life that sometimes intersect with this one.  I've had the fortune to have a couple of interesting experiences.  The most compelling was on a visit in which my young family and I camped overnight in Fort Robinson, Nebraska.  We hadn't paid any attention to all the roadside monuments, or even researched the route beyond which roads to take to Mt. Rushmore and where we could camp on the way that would be pleasant and interesting.

Anyway, this visit was not long after the cataclysmic Nebraska floods of 1990-something.  It was a mess up in the state's northwestern corner, but the Fort had been tidied up and was open for business.  We looked forward to camping in this grassy, lightly forested location for a night.  However, once we'd set up camp off in the western part of the campground, not far from the small creek that came down from the hill near the highway, I had an awful uneasy feeling that I put off to the trials of travel with rambunctious boys.

The boys, of course, ran around and acquainted themselves with the grounds of the Fort and the campground.  They and their father were ghoulishly delighted to tell me they'd learned the very creek we camped so near had had a number of caskets and human remains from a cemetary up the hill washed down it in the flood.  It raised an eyebrow, but wasn't that big a concern to me, but I felt bad for the relatives.  They also were very excited about the old parade grounds and log structures of the Fort and were anxious to show me.

So, in the morning, prior to leaving, we visited the parade grounds area and took the self-guided tour.  My nerves were all a-twitter and there was a heaviness in the air, a palpable sadness that confused me.  We walked along, read the placards while my unease grew.  The last placard explained the historic significance of the place:  Crazy Horse had been killed there.  The placard at the time said there had been an execution...the chief and some warriors...but I can't seem to find anything about that...only that CH had escaped and was shot.  Anyway, I'm sure my feelings were unhappy spirits trying to tell me their story.  Soon as we left, I felt much better, but I will never forget that place or my experience.

I just recently bought a t shirt with the picture of Crazy Horse on the front. The caption was Sure you can trust the government, just ask an Indian.

The Catholic church...for one...has been preaching life after death all along. Concentrating on the teachings of Jesus for the most part and not dwelling on anything else.  Yes there are spirits roaming about the world and if you read between the lines in the Bible and other books and prayers provided by the church you can deduct that there are plenty of spirits all about us.
    However....
If you believe in Jesus and the Holy Trinity you have nothing to worry about.

I don't think of spirits in general as something to worry about, no moreso than the people you meet every day in your life. In fact less threatening than the people you run into every day.

Lisa Williams has confronted many spirits who have been extremely negative, who have haunted families and houses. Their story generally goes like this. They had a horrible life and a horrible death. They are not content to just go home to where they are supposed to go. They are brooding and upset. It is stressful to be near them. But they aren't doing anyone any harm. They are just like sitting on a subway train next to someone who is drunk and disorderly but isn't interacting with you. Nasty to be around, but not picking up a knife and sticking it in you. Self absorbed, angry, troubled.

Contrast that to your usual spirit. Happy, wishing you the best, eager to help you, keeping a friendly and watchful eye out for you, because after all, this is mom or dad or Aunt Susie or grandma or grandpa and they love you.

I absolutely believe in reincarnation, life after death etc. I am a fan of John Edwards, read his books and have seen his television show. I have also experienced times of just knowing things. I knew both my children were boys (before they were born) knew I would never have a girl...didn't even pick out a name. I knew exactly when my children would be born. In fact I won the pool started for my first child because everyone picked beyond my due date but I knew he would be born 5 days before he was due. The doctors wanted to schedule a C-Section for my second son if I didn't go into labor by a certain date, but I knew he wasn't going to be born until after that date so I wouldn't sign the paper. I was right again. I've known when people around me are going to die. Very strange and hard thing to know but I would just get a feeling and know it. I can't predict the future, I can't choose what I know. I just know when I know a thing. I've lived with this knowledge for years. Yes there are hoaxes out there, but it cannot be denied that psychics have helped solve crimes when police couldn't by getting information from the other side. Spirits live on in this world and on the other plain called heaven or Home to some. They are all around us, not to do harm but to visit and let us know they are all right. Some are unsettled because of a nasty lifetime or death, but they don't cause harm, they just wander in this plain. They are hard to see, but it is possible because they are made of energy not substance like we are. They seem to float because they have no mass...gravity doesn't affect them the way it does us. There is much to learn on this subject if you just open your eyes and read about it. Thanks for the post...I'm with you all the way on this one!!!

RC, oh no...there was never a worry at Fort Robinson. Just sorrow. The spirits there wanted compassion of soul, I think. I've always had the gift of feeling.
