Okay, here's a light and fun poll.  Just one question.

If cost, season and all other factors were not a consideration, what one flower would you love to find on your desk/table/doorstep tomorrow?

I'd love to find fragrant white lilacs on my desk tomorrow.  I've loved them since I was a little girl.

I would love a mess of beautiful blue poppies....I've never seen any in person and I'd really love to...they are almost magical looking, out of this world beauty, the color is breath taking :)
  • uniquely-ironic said on Oct 29, 2008....
tizzy - blue poppies?  I don't think I've even seen a picture of such a flower.  sounds very pretty though.
  • tizzygirl said on Oct 29, 2008....

oh wow them are  so pretty thanx for the pic..

me i would want in the pot not cut a purple rose .
sadly mine died in a bad frezze and it left me with it grandparent rose. which smells omg so good. but  its ugly  roses with torns in the millions.
  • uniquely-ironic said on Oct 29, 2008....
winters - aren't the purple roses called sterling roses?  I've seen some that were pretty and smelled pretty good too.
  • winterslight said on Oct 29, 2008....
not sure i think the one i got was called angel but with that i did get it from wal- mart... so not sure. lol  i loved it!

if you like smell i have a climbing joesph. it smells so good, odd rose sometime it has roses in the snow on it.. the flowers are so cool they go from orange to red.. mixed colors.. very odd never 1 is same color or making.. but its torny..

the purple one tho very few torns.......nice stems
  • uniquely-ironic said on Oct 29, 2008....
winters - I think I have seen the climbing joseph.  I think it's the same rose as the ones they often plant at the end of the vineyard rows that they call joseph's coat because of the many pretty colors.  Yes, lots of thorns!
  • winterslight said on Oct 29, 2008....
ok  i am sad i went to a  seller web site. what i got that is callled  climbing  joesph is called Climbing Pinata Rose found at http://www.autumnridgenursery.com/search_results.cfm?Rowcount=13&pageIs=3&link=brand&brand_id=114&category_id=13

ok  found the purple one they call it a Angel Face Rose and it is on this page

ok all the roses under Hybrid Tea Roses  are  so pretty. i never new betty white had her own rose,,,

ok ill let you look at the rest  some pertty roses. pics could be better but  they ok.

  • uniquely-ironic said on Oct 29, 2008....
winters - I can see why you're mourning the loss of the angel face rose.  That's very pretty!!  The one I was thinking of is a dustier shade of purple.  I love roses, but have absolutely no talent at keeping them alive and healthy.
  • winterslight said on Oct 29, 2008....
oh me to bad with roses but this climbing one its a  fighter same frezze got it but it didnt die it just had its grandparent pop up and it over powers it lol . it seems to be  a tuff little rose.. you may try it.
  • queenparanoia said on Oct 29, 2008....

  • the_infernal_optimist said on Oct 29, 2008....
Few tangible things would delight me more than a surprise vase full of bearded iris -- deep red or dark purple or one of the many gorgeous blues...or even just plain snow white. :) Sooo pretty!

    Any kinda flower Uni?
  • MissMimi said on Oct 29, 2008....
Carnations make me happy, pink ones.  But so do roses and irises and lilacs...

What's more important is who I wish would send them, and that shall remain a deep dark secret.  ;)

    sunflowers.
you can't help but smile when you see them!
  • uniquely-ironic said on Oct 30, 2008....
queenie - pink roses are good.  They usually smell good too.  Pink represents fondness.

TIO - my sister is an Iris lover too.  I've seen some really pretty and exotic looking bearded Irises that she has collected.

mobil - as long as it's planted in dirt or lava rock.

MissMimi - but which of those flowers would you want to see delivered by your secret admirer?

OWK - very ecclectic and pretty sounding.  I don't think I've seen a rattlesnake fern.  Is it at all like rattlesnake grass?

silver - orchids are truly beautiful.  I used to get a new one every month at my desk when I worked at an upscale medical office.  Some were so unusually colored.

CW - They are pretty.  I assume you like the deep red and graceful long stems.

SL - I know what you mean about the smiling.  I caught myself smiling just picturing them in my mind.  I don't know how a person doesn't smile when they see them.

    I like daisies...and dandelions
  • uniquely-ironic said on Oct 30, 2008....
skald - are there any flowers that are traditionally given in Iceland?

star - I like daisys too!  Not so sure about the dandelions though.
  • skald said on Oct 30, 2008....
Uniquely.  No. people get roses and so on. I even love the weed my grandchildren give me. lol
  • uniquely-ironic said on Oct 30, 2008....
skald - I'll let you into my secret.  I actually like the "weeds" better than the hot house type flowers.  They have more character ;)
  • starchini said on Oct 30, 2008....

"I even love the weed my grandchildren give me"

ROFLMAO!!!  hahahahaha!!!  Ur are hilarious!  Whether its intentional hilarity or not i cant be sure, ow, i think i cracked a rib

  • fragglesrock said on Oct 30, 2008....

my favorite type of flower is the type that get delivered to you at work and instantly make everyone curious and jealous ;) my brother did that for me one year on mother's day (i have a sweet brother).  ok, nailing down favorites? well you always have to love the implication of romance that comes with a rose and i love the smell of lilacs ***sigh***

  • uniquely-ironic said on Oct 30, 2008....
star - I'm sure she meant honest to god weeds and not "weed".

fraggles - yeah, the kind of flowers that make the coworkers curious are the best!  I like that roses convey romance, but don't really care for the actual flower.  Mmmm lilac!
  • skald said on Oct 31, 2008....
Uni.  I like them better too. lol
  • one_wired_kitty said on Nov 07, 2008....
Uniquely ... SS it took me so long to get back.

Here's a pic of Rattlesnake Fern ... it's all over the damn place here ..
