Read the bible (KJV). Start with the New Testament. Sincerely ask Jesus to come into your heart and confess with your mouth that He is the Lord and Savior of your life. You will feel and start to see things you've never felt or seen before. God Bless you.

I believe in a god.  I find it hard to believe all of this that we see around us  just happened.  I do not believe in the organized religion which seems to be created mainly to take your money and control your life. That goes for all organized religions. I may believe in the same God you say you do, but I do not need a million dollar building to worship him in.  That million dollars could feed a lot of starving people or pay for a lot of vaccinations. I think the Bible it's self has things to say about wasting money on things of this world.

When I'm in pain I pray to God. I don't know if it's God who hears me. Makes no difference, as long as someone does and helps out. I do not believe in the god of the Bible, the one with the flood and all the Adam and Eve drama. I consider that to be fiction. But I do believe there is a loving god, far nicer and far wiser than the creep in the Bible. I'd have a lot more "faith" if I knew for sure that if I was ever in horrible pain I'd be released from it right away, but such is not the case.

For those who believe in God - no explanation is necessary.

For those who don't  - no explanation is possible.

If God wasn't there - it would have been necessary to invent Him.

Mixednuts,I know where you're at because I was in the same place not so long ago.
I wanted to believe in God but was full of scepticism.

Now, if you want to know about physics you read books about it, if you want to learn history you read books about history so in the same way I decided that to learn about God I had to read books on  and about God , religion and science. So I read a lot. Paul Davies, C.S. Lewis, E.S.  Schumacher, Aldous Huxley and a whole lot of others. They helped me a great deal and yes, now I believe in God.

I had a great "normal life" for a long time and some unbelievable things happened to me. I lost everything.I became a total junkie and addict. I didnt care about life anymore. I started to blame god and lost my faith. Now as I look back on all of it I understand that He put me through all of it so I could find my true purpose in life. Now because all of my low times im helping others get through the rough spots in life. Its true that "HE works in mysterious ways"

    butter1970,
God doesn't put you through anything.  There is enough evil in this world to put us all through nasty stuff.  It is when you were lifted out of it inspite of yourself that God was acting  in your life, God will use all the nasty stuff you have been through to help others but he doesn't wish that on you or cause it to happen.  That is Satan's baliwick, not God's.  If God is a kind a loving father as the Bible says then it would be impossible for him to caus epain and suffering.  What loving parent would cause their child to become sick, give them drugs to make them adicts or steall everything you have?  None.  Please do not give God credit for the evil in this world.  You are right to give God the credit for pulling you out of the mess you were in though.

crazy larry,,,,,,,    I respect your opinion but .......read the bible!   God has done some pretty heavy stuff to people for many different reasons.  Since my problems I have set up sites where I have people writing me every day for advice on everything from drug addiction to severe depression. I have talked people down from commiting suicide more than once and helped people not feel so alone like nobody cares. Now im going to college and I am on the deans list to become an addictions councelor. I know now that this was his plan for me. Not to do constuction, pay my mortage and live week to week with nothing more than a check to show for it. I am 10 times the person and 10 times the father I was prior to my problems and without living through this pain I would be like most of us taking life for granted. Again I respect your view and I have mine.

    butter1970,
There are probably more people who agree with you than agree with me.  I have the read the Bible, probably way more than most people, but I do not see where the God of the New Testament ever laid any kind of trials and tribulations on anyone to teach them anything.  Of course this is a complete 180 degree turn from what the Old Testament says.  Kind of makes you wonder doesn't it?  I do not doubt for an moment that God has pulled you up out of what ever you fell into and used you to help others.  At the same time I refuse to believe in a God who threw you in the gutter in the first place. So many of the nasty things God supposedly did in the Old Testament are just like things taught by even older religions that they are questionable to me.  As for the New Testament, it is in question too in 'my' opinion.  In the council held in the year 500 the Catholic church choose which books or writings were gospel and which were not.  I find it hard to believe that they choose anything other than what fit what they WANTED to teach.  They tossed out several times more than what they kept.  Through the years the Catholic church has proven over and over that they prefer to hide as much of the truth as possible and keep the faithful in the dark as much as possible.  The entire rest of Christianity has blindly followed along accepting the same scripture as gospel ever since.  I believe in God, but I have stated before I do not trust or believe organized religion.  It was organized to get our money and control our lives.  Not to save us not matter what the message preached from the pulpit is. God does not have to make you a junkie and an addict to get you to help others.  That is not a loving God.  Also there are plenty of people who never were junkies or addicts who help others recover from it.  Also not everyone takes life for granted just because they have not suffered some affliction.  That God took the bad in your life and turned it into good I don't doubt for a moment, but if there was not a force for evil getting people hooked on drugs then there would be no need for someone to help them get off of drugs. God does NOT have to get people hooked in order to find someone willing to help others.  He just has to look at the junkies already hooked and pick one.
  • butter1970 said on Oct 29, 2008....
Im in no way trying to blame god for my becoming a junkie. I did all of that myself.  I do however believe that he stripped me down to nothing because he felt I could find a better meaning for life. I am  by heart a helping type person and In my old life I did nothing but help myself. I started a site about addiction and it was incredible the amount of people who came to me for help. The amount of pain and despair that bled through that page in my first month was enough to make me a believer that this was meant for me. It dawned on me that maybe this was my calling or destiny. Im not saying he planned me to become a junkie and drug dealer but in doing that I learned the pain and suffering involved that a straight person could and will never know. Kudos to the people that have never done drugs and are addictions councelors but Ive been through 3 rehab and detox centers and have known many others who have too. We all agree that we could never relate to or honestly believe in what they were saying if they have never been there. In my classes there are at least 60% of the students who were at one time addicts themselves. It wasnt until my third rehab that  I got a councelor named sue who was a heroin addict  at one time. She helped me turn the corner better than I could have imagined. I will agree that not everyone takes life for granted as you said but after you go through being on rock bottom and the lowest low you could imagine you really start to see and love the little things in life. I really dont think our points of views are that different its just that we have our own opinions just as everyone does . I just have found a new meaning to "GOD works in mysterious ways"
  • Tresses said on Oct 30, 2008....
OK let me add my two cents for what that's worth here. First of all...we all need faith in something, that seems very obvious. We use the words, "God help me" without even thinking about it. So I choose to have faith in God. Now is this a punishing God? I highly doubt that. There are 26 versions of the Bible, all different in many ways. The basic premise is that the old testament was utilized as a mechanism of control to get people to act correctly. If you don't look what God will do. Do you truly believe that the entire earth was populated by 2 people? Gives new meaning to diversity that's for sure. So you have these stories that scare many people into leading moral lives. That's a good thing!! Then in steps Christianity and the money machine. Give to your church, that's giving to God...NO it isn't, that's giving to your church. To give to God you must give from the heart to those in need. That you will find in the New Testament. God doesn't give you illness or bring you pain. God doesn't make you an addict or a drunk...YOU DO!!! God can help you free yourself from these terrible things once you decide that is the course you want to be on. He will place all manner of ways to assist you in your path, but you must choose the correct path. I cannot find any way to deny God's existence because I merely need to look around me at the beauty of life. Flowers, trees, the very fact that we as humans exist. I do know that the place where I find God is within. When I am in need of God's assistance I go to quiet places and I look within my heart, the seat of my soul. I believe in the soul's existence and I believe that the soul continues to exist over time. I also believe that the soul returns to life to learn. Yes to learn about negativity and how to overcome it. I believe that we come from God...from Heaven, from a place I call Home. We come here with a plan, a plan to learn how to get through many very difficult situations. When we have accomplished that plan we go Home again. Yes, sometimes life really stinks...it's supposed to. Ever hear of "Hell on Earth". That's what I believe in. This is the negative place, this is the place where it's our job to overcome evil, help those in need and be the best souls we can be while enduring suffering. I came to these beliefs after much study of religion, psychology and science. I believe God made evolution possible. Now that explains diversity. I believe that though our religions differ in their dogma....essentially we all have the same faith in God. Our beliefs and practices within that belief system are what work to keep us strong in our faith. We do what we need to do to hold onto that faith for as long as we are on this earthly plain. We do what we need to do to survive what we have chosen for ourselves to overcome. Then we go HOME. I don't know of one person on this great planet of ours that doesn't live with some kind of suffering. That is our purpose...to learn how to overcome the suffering we have chosen, whether it be health, addiction, relationship strife, economical suffering, sexual deviance...you name it, there's plenty to pick from. We also come as teachers, healers, judges, missionaries. The strife we have chosen is the protagonist in our life theme...how well we deal with that strife is entirely up to us. Our faith will keep us on the correct path towards dealing with our strife, and completing our life's mission. I am a mental healer, my protagonist is that I have health problems, and I am often trying so hard to help others that I don't take good care of myself. My job here on this plain is to learn to balance the two issues, help others while not endangering my own health in the process. It's a learning curve and I'm doing all right with the help of God and prayer. When I have figured out how to keep the two in complete balance then I will go Home again. My time here will be done...That is until I chose to take on another life theme and another protagonist. Then I will return to learn more and develop my soul to a higher level. Each lifetime I learn new coping skills, I achieve new triumphs and experience new failures. Many of us know each other...if not from this life, then from a previous one. You all have experienced this I am more than certain. We meet people everyday, but there are some people we recognize immediately as if we have known them our entire lives...we have, our entire past lives, and now in this life. Those are the souls that we travel on this plain with. We'll see them over and over, at Home and here. You'll know me when you see me...that is if you've known me before. So there you have it, my take on God, faith and belief.

After your last post I think you made yourself much more clear about where you stand about what God does and does not do and or problem was in understanding each others words rather than in beliefs.
I am glad to see that you do not blame God for the bad things in your life.  So many do rather than take responsibilities for their own actions.
I agree with you that you can reach others who have suffered the same as you much better then someone who has not.  That is a given.  All of us can relate to and help people we understand.  I applaud you for the work you are doing and the help you are providing others.
  • Tresses said on Oct 30, 2008....
CrazyLarry and Butter1970 I too agree with you. It is your helping others that is working through God. You had to come to your own place of healing and then that lead you down a path I believe you chose in the first place which was to overcome your strife and then help others overcome theirs...I applaud what you are doing and commend you for it. Keep up the good work and you will be well on your path. Remember to always look at obstacles as opportunities to learn.

Mixed Nuts...some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers. What we want, and what we need to go through are often two different things. People's prayers are answered everyday when they put food in their mouths and clothes on their backs. To be healed from an illness or taken out of your misery may not be in your best interest. God may want you to find your way out of these things as part of your reason for being here. You may have chosen a life of poverty...therefore, asking God for riches would be fruitless, as God will be there to hold your hand through your poverty but not give you something that was not intended for you to begin with. I think that butter1970 chose a life of helping others, but had to go through the process of learning how by living in crisis first. That will make butter the best kind of healer.
  • CrazyLarry said on Oct 30, 2008....
    Butter1970 & Tresses,

Is it not amazing how easy it is to misunderstand another persons beliefs.  With out being reasonable and taking time to explain ourselves we could easily have sank to name calling and a verbal war about beliefs when we really did not disagree.  It is a small example of how easily it for religious wars to start.  Too much of the world is unreasonable and even ready for a fight.  Nearly everyone can agree that God must exist after seeing the reality of his creation around them.  We fight about minor details which we can't prove one way or the other anyway.  Certainly not what God wants from us.
  • Tresses said on Oct 30, 2008....
I agree CrazyLarry, if everyone would accept that we have our own beliefs, and they work for us without really being all that different, perhaps there wouldn't be so much external strife in the world. I am comfortable with live and let live, I accept other people's beliefs because it is what feels right in their heart. I think that is what will create peace on earth if that is possible.
  • mixednuts said on Oct 30, 2008....
The question for me is how do we reach God so that a prayer is truely answered, I have given much of my life to the service of others, but there doesn't seem to  be a bank account for good deeds. Does God only remember what we've done wrong and ignores the good we have done?
  • mixednuts said on Oct 30, 2008....

  • Tresses said on Oct 30, 2008....
mixednuts how do you know there isn't a bank account for your good deeds? Your struggles on earth are in your faith. Faith is the belief in that thing which cannot be proven. You want concrete proof. There is no such thing. What proof do you have that God only remembers the things we have done wrong and not the good? The proof will be found when you go Home again. If you look for it in this lifetime you will be searching forever. Just by having faith that God sees the good that you do may actually enhance how you feel about the world around you!!! I'll be praying that you can find that faith within yourself. Look for God in your heart mixednuts. He's there everytime you feel the need to do a good thing. He's there everytime you do a bad thing and feel badly about it...to lift you back up from it so you can move on to the good things again.

  • CrazyLarry said on Oct 30, 2008....
    Mixednuts,

I think people wrongly expect rewards here and now.  I tend to agree with Tresses that we are here to learn and not to be rewarded. I believe that anytime we talk to God, either quietly in our mind or shouting at the top of our lungs he hears us.  Our problem is that we do not understand or hear the answers.  I believe in a loving, kind God and not one who is vindictive and ready to punish.  You have to remember that this world is full of evil and just surviving day to day is an accomplishment. God's answer may not be getting us out of the place we are in, but rather giving us the strength to survive where we are.  I have been disabled for 8 years now and I have had to learn to accept the fact that this is going to be me from now on.  With our God's help and strength I would probably have been a mental case by now.  Sometimes God answers us by placing people in our lives who love us and support us.  Now would be time to tell you all that God has placed Tresses in my life as a support to lean on when times get hard.  I know with out a doubt that she is a gift from God to help me make it through life.  I am sure that if you really look you will find you have been given gifts to help you survive.  This site might even be one.
  • CrazyLarry said on Oct 30, 2008....
I am sure you are right copsunite. We have to live with God all the time rather than run to him when we fall down. If we do not live our life in communication with God how will we know how to speak to him when trouble arrives?

    TRESS:

Faith? how do you get faith when you need to see a responce to get it? Faith comes easy once you know you are being heard. Am I being heard? There are billions of people on earth! Why would God waste a second on me?

  • Tresses said on Oct 30, 2008....

I think we talk to God everytime we talk to ourselves...I believe he hears everyword we think. I believe you're right copsunite we shouldn't just think of God as a go-to-guy when we need something, but as part of who we are and part of everything we do. Then it is an everyday communication.

mixed nuts you need to look inward for faith not outward. I know it's not an easy thing to do...but to find faith you must first trust that such a thing exists. The very act of having faith will help you see the results of what you seek. God helped you help others, he made it possible for you to give from your heart...he made you need to help others and rewards you in so many ways if you will be still and truly look around you. Listen to your heart...the answers lie there with God.
  • Tresses said on Oct 30, 2008....
LOL!!! Well CrazyLarry I'm glad you lead me here as well. You see folks, CrazyLarry and I met a while back and we KNEW each other the moment we met. It's been a roller coaster ride of discussion and laughter ever since. I believe that we knew each other because we have lived many lives together. Not as man and wife, but perhaps twins, brother and sister...who really knows for sure, I just know that we are connected somehow and that resonates with me. We have come to believe that we were possibly healers or witch doctors who worked together at some time in history. When it feels right in my gut I just go with it!!!!
  • CrazyLarry said on Oct 30, 2008....
    mixednuts,

If you have proof it isn't faith anymore.  There are somethings that might help you believe though.  Looking at the wonders around you for instance.  By that I mean nature and not the things of man.  As for why would God care about you.  Why wouldn't he?  What makes you think you are any less than anyone else?  You are looking at things from the negative side.  A lot of how we do in life is just our outlook.
  • mixednuts said on Oct 30, 2008....
There just might not be a simple code to break that reaches God. I don't seek treasures or fame...just the most simple things, like when I pray for the well being of people I love and care about. I ask God to let me see him clearly in my everyday life. I ask that my faith be made stronge. Starchini is going to have a child! I pray for this child and mother. Does God act on this pryer, or anything I pray about? I don't look for pie in the sky by and by.
  • CrazyLarry said on Oct 30, 2008....
I am not as sure as Tresses is.  She has developed her faith over a log time and I have just started searching again after years of trying to ignore God because religion had failed me.  While I am not as sure I also have no reason to doubt what she believes.  So, I am doing what she says... just going with it as long as I feel good about it and have no proof otherwise.
  • mixednuts said on Oct 30, 2008....
In a since I know the answer to all my silly human questions. In Gods domain what will be will be. He has a grand plan. I suppose I need to let it flow over me like water over a stone. I wish faith was that simple for me. Perhaps I am one of the UNFORGIVEN. Won't he just tell me where I stand?
  • Tresses said on Oct 30, 2008....

It is good that you pray for the well-being of others, but others have their own life plans to fulfill. You can want for others, but if their plans are to experience suffering and endure then that is what they are here for. God hears your prayers mixednuts, but he will answer only those where it's necessary for him to intercede. People of the world who are miraculously cured from diseases with no cure, those are answers to prayers from God. Those people were not ready to die, but became ill perhaps because of some man-made cause, not of their own planning. This person has a life to live and a balance to reach, it is not time for them to go Home yet...so a miracle happens because people pray for it.

CrazyLarry is right...if you have proof there is no need for faith. As I said before faith is the belief in a thing that CANNOT be proven. I'm glad that you pray for Starchini and her unborn child...what happens will be up to God, what is meant to be is meant to be. We...CrazyLarry and I have a friend who has breast cancer. We pray for her to get well. If it is in her life plan to overcome this illness, then our prayers will be answered. If it is not in her life plan to overcome this illness then our prayers will not be answered the way that we want them. I have faith that God will answer our prayers in his eternal wisdom, not in mine.

  • Tresses said on Oct 30, 2008....

mixednuts let me help you with where you stand. Your very desire to help others means you have a strong connection with God. You wouldn't care if you didn't. It's ok to not know if God is there for you...in fact it's common. I don't believe that there can possibly be an "unforgiven" person who gives so much.

The "unforgiven" are those who act against others without regard. Who feel no remorse for the mistakes they have made that affect others negatively. I don't for one second believe that you are "unforgiven"!!!

Evil exists in this world, those who take steps to prevent it, to pray against it are always in God's hands. Those who perpetuate it...will be spending a lot of time coming back here to learn how to right the wrongs. I believe that if you live a life of selfishness and have no concern for the good of others, when you die, you simply jump right back here and do it over again until you can overcome the evil within and get back on track. Some people never do! It is the balance between good and evil. If there was no evil...this would be heaven...HOME.

  • mixednuts said on Oct 30, 2008....

    Thanks Tress

I do believe that if I was good in Gods eyes I'll be in heaven when I die, but if I was evil I'll stay here for this is surely hell. Would I go to hell if suicide is commited?

I work in a food handout line every thursday. I'll be back later to see if there other responces. Thankyou all!
  • Tresses said on Oct 30, 2008....
You're Welcome mixednuts. Here's where I stand on suicide. There are two forms of suicide. Those who are mentally unwell, who feel hopeless and cannot cope with the life that they are living and the feelings they are feeling. There is help for these people if they will only seek it. If they CHOSE not to seek help and merely give up and take their lives, then I believe they will return directly here to try again. Then there are those who are suffering terminal illness for which there is no cure. If they feel in their hearts that they have lived a good life, done the best that they can to follow the course they chose and wish to ease their suffering from which only death can do... then I don't believe that is suicide. I believe in euthanasia for animals, and I believe in euthanasia for humans. We would never allow a dog to suffer needlessly, why do we allow humans to. When palliative care is all that is left and a person lay dying in terrible pain, they should be allowed to be released from that pain. Some say this is a slippery slope, we would take lives rather than treat illness, but I'm not talking about not treating treatable illness...I'm talking about the untreatable. I think if there were laws in place to protect people from greedy family members looking for a quick inheritance, that required you be of sound mind, have 2 doctors verify that your illness is absolutely terminal, then you should be granted your wish for release from your pain which would inevitably land you in the same place anyway.
  • curezilla said on Oct 30, 2008....
Great answer to the suicide issue!
  • Tresses said on Oct 30, 2008....
Thank you curezilla!! There are those who say that by utilizing euthanasia we are interfering in God's plan. Well to that I say then don't take penicillan for strep throat, don't have CPR when you have a heart attack, because you are interfering in God's plan. He gave you strep throat, he gave you the heart attack. He also gave us medical knowledge to overcome these illnesses. When there is no knowledge, no cure I don't think he meant for us to go on suffering. Often times the suffering is extended because we insist on hydrating, feeding and providing care when there is no cure. How can it be called suicide when it was more than likely actually a life extended by medical means in the first place?
  • CrazyLarry said on Oct 30, 2008....
Tresses you have to be very careful with words. God did not give us strep throat or a heart attack.  They are just a part of the evil on this Earth.  God allows it, but does not give it to anyone.  A fine line I admit, but an important one because many people accuse God of being the cause of their plight when he is not.
  • Tresses said on Oct 30, 2008....
Ok CrazyLarry I'm willing to rephrase that...God allows us to suffer from strep throat or a heart attack and we seek treatment for those things. If God allows us to be inflicted with such illnesses then he means for us to be able to be affllicted with them, and should we seek treatment??? My answer is yes because he has also allowed for the medical knowledge to cure these afflictions when possible. It's the impossible to treat that I refer to in my answer to believing in euthanasia.

knew what you meant, but with so many people blaming God I thought it best to make it clear you were not.

Okay....thoughts and opinions have been given.Thankyou so much. Let me say this. God says "ask and you shall recieve". Is there a catch to this?(catch 22?)

If I was hungry and asked my father for some food would he give me a stone? Of course not! If I ASK my father in heaven for something (healing) would he ignore my prayer? We come up with arguments that explains or defends Gods every action, or lack of action. Why can't God be black and white about everything? In my mind trust is earned...not just given. Faith should be earned.Blind faith seems like a fools folly. I try blind faith, but I end up wondering why.

It's not up to God to EARN your trust nor you his...God loves you no matter what. I return the favor to Him that's all. Remember the story of the fish. Give a man a fish he eats for a day, show him how to fish...God may not give you food if you pray for it but he might show you how to fish!!! Sometimes the answers we get from God aren't as clear as we THINK they should be. Having pre-conceived notions about how God should act or react to you is probably a bad place to start. Don't try Blind faith mixednuts, try open minded faith.
  • mixednuts said on Oct 31, 2008....

Alright...openminded faith. God knows our every thought and weakness. Can't he just tell us clearly what it is we need to know? If life is a school why teach us the hard way?  God!!!! Speak to me father! Take me by the hand and walk me through it! You are God! Are there to many people on the earth to hear me?

Gods a busy Guy. I need stonger faith.

Someone must have told you some where along the line that life was supposed to be easy. That everything was black and white. What happened to gray??? Take yourself by the hand and find the way to walk through life that feels the most right. I would assure you that God will be holding your other hand when you do. This is supposed to be a learning experience...a trial of your will and ability to cope, otherwise you would learn nothing from being here. What is meant to be is meant to be. Don't ask why ask how can I help...then help. Yourself, others what ever feels right at the time. If learning were easy then we would all just be given knowledge and skip the process. Living is the process of learning. Living is hard sometimes.

If what is in the Bible is true God is stuck with the relationship he has with us because of our actions (our ancestors and not us personally).  If that is true maybe God is as frustrated with the relationship as we are.

This whole topic get confusing. yet it's so damn simple.  Is it to much to ask of God for simple direct answers to simple direct questions?

God knows I love him, but I'm confused about the nature of things. Why  make us jump through burning hoops of fire?  He's GOD! We're just silly humans! Give me FAITH lord!

  • mixednuts said on Oct 31, 2008....
God....we all know that  this life is oh so very short. Our life here must have meaning otherwise the death of Jesus was meaningless. If we love Christ why let our lives be difficult? There's millions of bad people to teach lessons too! Why his own people!? Hitler,Manson,Simpson. Make them suffer...not us!

    dear mixednuts,

when you said: "God knows I love him, but I'm confused about the nature of things. Why  make us jump through burning hoops of fire?  He's GOD! We're just silly humans! Give me FAITH lord!"

the burning hoops were created by religion, not God

religion has been attempting to mitigate the war and disparity that comes from not understanding our birthright. I too wish to simplify these issues, which is why i took the time to write about electromagnetic patterns as a way of helping people to ACCEPT their birthright. Up until now, humanity has only squandered our birthright on estrangement, disparity, rape, war, incest etc....this is not our birthright, however we have been attempting to interpret God's intent for our lives based upon human patterns of superstition and ignorance, when God/Goddess has given us far more than we ever dreamt.

When we see how responsive the elements are that comprise our body and our world then we develop the ability to ACCEPT these blessings. Most everyone has no clue what the Laws of Nature are. Most of the information that is available has been lost in the mountains and mountains of religious interpretation about the past.

In the past, we were ignorant of our birthright

    now

those who have the attention-span of an adult are minimal, so getting the good news out to the masses is like digging through the trenches of an outhouse for the light...which is what the conversations above reminded me of.

no...that doesn't mean that i think i am better than anyone here trying to make sense out of these issues, its just that i spent way more time digging at turds than your average bear.

aloha mixednuts and i appreciate your sincerity and desire to understand what was, in the past, beyond our understanding...which is why religion stepped in to set the stage for the group perceptions. Unfortunately the stage is set by ignorance and superstition that we attribute to God. poor God! to be misunderstood so entirely must be very depressing - it was probably his Old Testament self that was acting out in such a way that he was more like the devil! poor christians, they definitely have a bi-polar god!

How about giving unbelief a try?  It's just you and me and 6 billion of our closest friends here on earth and we just have to help each other.  No magical thinking necessary.
