  It's looks very icy there skald, I don't blame you for going back inside with ice like that. But I want to tell you about something that we use here as not to fall on slick ice.

   

  I used to buy these by the case for my workers in the winter and they only needed them on certain days. Wait let me google and see if I can get you a link to these things............

  They make lots of different kinds and they may sell them there, even with these you must be careful because you can fall if you don't pick your feet up all the way and set them down each time. You can stumble on the cleats if you aren't careful.

   

  But I tell you they work good, I keep a set in my truck all the time.

  i love it wen it snows, my daughta live in a proprty with no garden so if a snowman is to be made im called upon for the duty,same as bonefire nyt, i really these times with her,takes me bk to wen my 2 were pre school age,all very innocent, but after getting completely wet freezing cold wet gloves and hats, come inside sit infront of the fire warm up with a cupa and then out comes the paints to paint wot they made...i dnt drive cos of my fits, i used to at 1 time but my fits were on a no driving bann,which is great,althogh im not daft enough to drive about but i guess its scary...i hope you enjoy the smow, id love it to snow here...:)x

  Pickers. For the second time. It snowed early in October and we had a lots of snow for 3 days. Now the snow is just where the land is higher and not in the center which is nearer to the sea.
  Mobil.  I could not connect to this site but I think I know what you are talking about. I used to wear them when I was pregnant and there are some kinds Their put under the shoes but there were kind of rubber ties to put them over the shoes and the kids would make fun of mine. They thought this was just for old women but I did not mind I did not want to fall with my baby in my tummy and I went for walks all days. My boys are born in end of January and middle of March.
  Lioness.  I don't know where you live but if it is in a cold country you will get some snow. Thank you for your story. My grand kids get hot cocoa after being out in the snow yes it can be fun there.

    Great pics skald I can feel the cold. I smiled when I read mobil's comment. I've been doing the same damn thing for years. I carry a pair in my truck too. In fact I have several pairs in my garage and they really do work. While everybody is slipping and slidding here I come walking normal !  Ha ha !  They make great Christmas presents. I made sure my whole family has them. They slip on any shoe and their not to noticeable Over here they are called " Get A Grip "  http://www.cabelas.com/hprod-1/0003364.shtml  They are great for ice fishing on a lake.   Caynne.  Yes, they are exactly like the ones I had when I was pregnant. But once on a hill in the country I found a rusted " get grip " and they might have been very, very old. Even from the time of the settlement and the thing is I have lost it. It was not a pair, only the one and I should have gone with it to the national museum. It was a big thing and different from those.
  
  When you say that everyone is slipping and sliding I remembered my teenage days when we stupid girls were going in high heels to the movies, taking buses and one particular moment I remember when I was sliding down a hill. I could not make it lol   Thannks for the comment.

  I was introduced to snow as a child and never really experienced it as an adult.....maybe that's why I have such fond memories of it...  :^)

  Quiet.  Yes, that is the right word. Today was cold too but as there was no wind it was nice to be out. You only have to wear warm cloths.
  Rolling  We all have fond memories of it even when we grow up and it is no fun anymore. Playing in the snow as a child, playing with my boys and now the grandchildren. Those are all fond memories. But not all memories of snow and cold are fond. Still when you have a warm home to come to. Everything is alright.
