The other night I spent a few hours with a friend of mine. She asked me what it was I wanted.
After a moment I replied, "To be happy and healthy."
"I'd also like to go to Siberia" came a few moments later. "Why?" she replied.
The fact is, Siberia is one of the most inhospitable places on the face of the planet. There are not a great number of animals and plants that live there, and people live in a few sparsely populated towns, miles and miles apart. It is also the location of a pecuiliar incident that took place early in the 20th century, namely the Tunguska Explosion. Something streaked across the sky and exploded before it hit the ground, flattening trees in a circular pattern for a number of miles, shattering windows in those few sparsely populated towns, created shockwaves that resonated throughout the Earth and registered on primitive guages, and lit up the nightsky for at least a month due to the way it disturbed the atmosphere. There's also the story of the strange lifeform that was witnessed during the years following the incident.
I'd like to go to Siberia. I find the intense allure of the unknown and the desolate to be incredibly attractive. I find it strangley beautiful. It's a once in a lifetime trip that I believe I should undertake. If things went my way, I'd go in 2008, specifically during a full solar eclipse that some parts of Siberia would allow perfect angular viewing of the phenomenon. Heck, I'd bring a bottle of Corona, so as I'm standing in Siberia, watching a full solar eclipse, I'd pop it open and say, "Corona. Miles away from ordinary" because that would truly be the most unordinary Corona I've ever drank.
Now I need to save up for that. And if anyone would like to accompany me (and possibly help me out financially) in the sharing of an incredible once in a lifetime moment, by all means please do. They call this website SoulCast, why not do some soul searching with me?
