Our table
Sweetie shared her local tea place with me.

tea pot
We ordered some Japanese Sencha with Cherry

 pouring tea
I totally didn't tell her to lift that pinky when she poured her tea!

 tea cup
I've never used this type of tea strainer before.

 tea luncheon
Yummy, but not enough food.  Next time I'm ordering for double the head count.  I suppose that's not proper, but hunger knows no shame.

She's getting more beautiful as the days go by... its striking.

As for the food! well now.. that little sandwich is about two mouth fulls, the cake? man one mouth full, as for the fruit?? that wouldn't feed a starving african.. I say order three!
    beautiful tea set though..

That's a  very pink place! I'm guessing not too many men frequent that pink flowery tea place huh? Not to mention that the food plate is a little small. What's on those sandwiches? There's no meat is there? Definitely not a man's place :-P

Lucy - she sure is.  Poor thing had a crappy weekend between her dad and I.

I was tempted to do the drive through at Taco Bell after I dropped her off.  The food was oh so proper and yummy, but gnats would have starved on it!
  • uniquely-ironic said on Oct 20, 2008....
ET - believe it or not, I saw several men there.  None by themselves of course!  I was really trying not to stare.  I kept wondering what exactly a woman has to do to get a man to go there. ;)  No meat in the entire "lunch", so yeah, it was not as hearty as I need to eat.
  • Lucytorial said on Oct 20, 2008....
Tee he hee man I put on about 5 kilo's over the weekend with the amount of food i ate... good home cooking... meat.. yum... big meals... I wanna cook!
  • uniquely-ironic said on Oct 20, 2008....
Lucy - I made a batch of toll house cookies after dinner on Saturday, but managed to stay away from all but two of them.  I'm already a "puffy" girl.  I don't need no extra padding!
  • Lucytorial said on Oct 20, 2008....
Awww padding makes cuddling so muich nicer though.... :-D
  • uniquely-ironic said on Oct 20, 2008....
Bleech!  I don't think so.  I'm trying to rid myself of my padding.
  • Lucytorial said on Oct 20, 2008....
You know, if ya can't beat em join em, there's always suction!

Sweetie is beautiful, U-I!  It looks like you enjoyed your tea - although I would have definitely voted for Taco Bell on the way home.
  • mobil said on Oct 20, 2008....
I am too manly really to even be commenting on such a post; Pretty dishes though.
  • beyondtheveil said on Oct 20, 2008....
mobil-- I'm sure men are required to lift their pinky while sipping the tea and dining on the pretty little snack.
  • Lucytorial said on Oct 20, 2008....
Just as long as you take ya damned hat off at the table!
  • Twylarants said on Oct 20, 2008....
What a beautiful setting, and Sweetie really is a sweetie.
    Lol at Mobil...
Is that a cucumber and tomato sandwich?
    Yeah...Taco Bell for sure.
  • Lucytorial said on Oct 20, 2008....
Yup! like I said, two mouth fulls, not enough for an ANT

You're daughter is growing into a beautiful woman, I'm sure she did'nt get her good looks from her dad. I agree with mobil I like the dishes. Where were you lady's at Barbie's Playhouse or something ?  I think a starving Ethiopian would have been disapointed. All kidding aside it didn't look like a bad place seems like it would have a warm atmosphere. But you sure as hell wouldn't catch me in there . . . just a little to pink for me.
  • queenparanoia said on Oct 21, 2008....
awww iw sh i could join you guys!!! a tea with the queen...lol... but looks very fun!!! ;-)
  • skald said on Oct 21, 2008....
Oh the tea set is wonderful.
  • uniquely-ironic said on Oct 21, 2008....
Lucy - I already fantasize about a tummy tuck to get rid of that annoying "mommie tummy" thing I have going on.

wishy - she is, isn't she?!  I resisted the temptation to put junk food in my mouth and opted for a sugar free Rock Star until I got home to my salad.

mobil - yes, it's not any place I'd take a man for sure.  The dishes were very pretty and feminine.

BTV - I was really surprised at how nonchallant the men there were.  I'd expect them to be a little anxious around so much pastel paint and dainty china.

Twirlie - yes, there were three kinds of midget sandwiches.  Tomato and cucumber, cheese and tomato and egg and watercress.  Very fru fru but not filling.

CM - She's got her dad's nose, but the rest is pure me.  It was a very "fluffy" english tea house with all the "proper" trimmings and food.  I have to admit it was more like play acting than actually dining.

queenie - we'll take you with us next time you're in town ;)

skald - it was a very pretty rose set.  I would be nervous to own such an extensive set at home.
  • CayenneMan said on Oct 21, 2008....
I can imagine . . . to me it looks like another adventure for Alice in wonder land . . .

  • uniquely-ironic said on Oct 21, 2008....
CM - every now and then going down the rabbit hole isn't a bad thing ;)
  • skald said on Oct 21, 2008....
It would be in my glass cupboard. :-)
  • uniquely-ironic said on Oct 21, 2008....
skald - it would definately be "for company" kind of dishware.  I've often argued with myself about whether to own "for company" tableware or just use what I have no matter how good or bad.
  • destinydiva said on Oct 21, 2008....
hello!!!!  :-)  wow I feel so behind and like I havn't been here forever!
I cant believe how quickly your little girl is becoming a young lady!!!!!! lol about the pinkie :-) I think its an innate response built in to us during the 'posh tea' era :-)   cant be doing with the whole pot malarky (except when camping )  I just make a mug! but its  fact!!!!!!!!...pinkie lifting is innate!!!!  when I get out my posh tea cups n saucers....I loose all control of  the pinkie !!!!  ha ha :-) xx
  • uniquely-ironic said on Oct 21, 2008....
destiny - LOL Have you ever noticed that the pinky stays down when sipping coffee?  Or maybe that's just me.  Yes, Sweetie is all but grown now.
  • RollingC said on Oct 26, 2008....
I wonder where the pinky thing came from and who started it ?
    I liked the  tea  set....definitely  " company " dishes.
Although the " pink " room doesn't turn me on....it wouldn't deter me from
going in there.   But the small portions would guarantee that I wouldn't go
    back unless ordering double.... lol....

RC - I'm not a pastel decor kind of gal either, but for a tea place it was very nice.  I'm either eating before I go or again after I leave should I return there.  I think it's one of those "experience" adventures rather than a dining one.
