I think the clock is ticking on all this market crash business. I think it will blow over. Return to normalcy. Stock prices edging back up. I don't know if there will be more little crashes in the coming weeks, but I think this thing is about to run its course and go away.

What's the alternative? Market continues to crash, falls below 4,000 on the Dow Jones? Yeah? You think that's gonna happen? I don't. What's driving it? Not a hell of a lot. My house is still getting heated. I still got a job. I think that's true of enough people that this crap is about to blow over.

Times are not good. Maybe we need a new structure of this whole system.

Our present systems are imperfect in so many ways. We could use the whole thing redone top to bottom but it's not going to happen.

No idea.  Thought I was safe overseas.  50% of my retirement was in foreign stock.

All of it fell the same.
Did no better than anyone else.

Long run?  Don't trust my fellow Americans.  Foreign stocks will be a better value over the long haul.

But I've been wrong so far....

The only money my 401K has lost is a little that was in some overseas
stocks, which I really did not like. Most of my 401K is in sure thing CDs,
and those are fine as far as I know. The CDs are spread everywhere. My
401K guy said one CD was with a bank that failed early on, but that has
already been recovered (the FDIC covered it) and reinvested in another
CD. I plan to get out of the little bit of stock if it ever goes back up (it
would lose bad at this point). This whole thing will blow over if people
stop listening to the Obama TV networks. They want things to look as
bad as possible so we will reject McCain (because he is Bush, NOT) and
elect Obama. Then everything will suddenly be OK. The sun will come up
and birds will start singing again. A lot of people lost money, but that
happens all the time. If my neighbor screwed up and bought a house
that he/she could not afford, and loses it, how does that affect me?
He/she loses his/her shirt and moves on. McCain (and Bush) wants to
help people get out of this mess and Obama wants to point fingers. I
say, the less the government interferes the better. I heard yesterday
that the five tops guys at Leamann Brothers (I believe it was) got $500
million in bonuses between them the week before they declared
bankruptcy. Can that be true? I better Google that. If it is true, the
FBI should be going after their fat asses and their $500 million.

Of course the market is doing better. EVERYONE buys when the stock reaches so low that they could snap it up at a bargin in 10,000 unit blocks. I evn considered buying and Warren Buffet says he's been buying. Now how much Google and Microsoft do you think he owns NOW?

This is not a sign that things are going to get better. When the 1st bomb hit the world trade we thought things were going to get better. The next time the terrorists came back and bombed us with our own planes and brought the building down. Having a false sense of security isn't good. I know many who in IT and the financial sector who have lost their jobs, one guy after 21yrs on Wallstreet. Perhaps depending on what it is that you do it hasn't hit you yet. And I know my industry is beginning to see the effects of it and I'm in medical.

Your right it will blow over when we start to make changes to our government and how we do business and when S.E.C does their job instead of paling around with these CEO's.

I don't think that last paragraph will come to pass. I doubt that there will be any great change in the way we do business, and I'm sure that the SEC will never do their jobs right, and will keep an incestuous relationship with the people they are supposed to be overseeing. It's the pattern with all our watchdog agencies. They all have incestuous relationships with the industries they are supposed to be watching, and then the govt leaders quit their govt jobs and get hired to work for the industries they used to be watchdogging, as a payment for their corruption. Even so, I don't see the Dow dropping to 4,000 and I don't see this crap lasting much longer. Same old same old. Wait and see.
