  • I am sick and tired of the current climate interms of the election in my country. I think it's safe to say we all have problems with the two guys running for President but I URGE You ALL to VOTE. We are all transplants by nature or force and voting affects ALL of us. No matter what your sex, race, religion,or nationality. When this country was founded voting was reserved for rich affluent, white, male landowners.
  • Then their came the industrialization of the world as we knew it and along with it the influx of immigrants due to varies reasons, from starvation, religious pursercution to war,and being proverty stricken in their home land just simply wanting a better way of life. They had to fight for the right to vote as well as just everyday basic respect and rights. Ex:There was a time that the country was very anti-Irish,anti-chinese,Japanese,etc.,..
  • Then women came along and said I want the right to vote too. I want my voice to be heard and my opinion to count also. So they were eventually given the right after much pain and heartache.Ex: They went on hunger strikes and had their teeth broken as they were force fed. They were also beaten and thrown into Mental Hospitals.
  • Blacks were shot, hung from trees and had firehoses turned on them. They were jailed, spit upon, and also beaten. As were whites that supported the cause.
  • NO ONE IS IMMUNE from the scars that came from FIGHTING for the RIGHT to be HEARD here in AMERICA. The right to simply say:" I choose you for my LEADER!"
  • LIKE IT OR NOT WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER. And this little peak into history was a reminder b/c I think it's needed. Do you notice the young basing their choice on their ideals and less about all of the "other stuff" that the older generation is griping about? How come this generation that has it backwards in so many other areas has it RIGHT in this one? How come they can look pass the physical and look at the issues? We should all ask ourselves these questions.
  • Look someone has to lead and none of us are stepping up and running so it's Either:
  • Democrat Barack Obama or Republican John McCain.
  • But who ever it is don't sit home on that Hopeful November day. Make a choice!
Note: And as usual only 5-10 people will come and see this and understand what it is that I'm trying to say! As posted on another person's blog.

it's to be expected that young people, who have next to no life experience, base their choice on "ideals".
now for those of us who have been around the block a time or two or ten, we have to take everything into consideration in making what we believe to be the best decision because it would be irresponsible not to.
my 18 yr old voter is casting her vote for the first time in a few weeks.
i listen to her and have tried to talk to her about the issues that matter most to me.
none of the real issues matter to her.  she's drawn into the rhetoric because she's naive and doesn't know better.
i remember being like her too-  30 yrs ago.
i've learned alot in those yrs pickers....and i can't ignore that.

Secret the point is that she has "ideals" and an idea of how she sees the world. I didn't say those ideals were perfect interms of the world. But it is important to her as she is the future of this country. I too have seen what my picks can do. But as my life continues to unfold there are things that I can no longer ignore as my tax bracket changes and  along with my families needs.

But make no mistake I will go and cast a vote for someone.

I am pretty sure everyone in my family is voting for McCain because he is
a white land owner with an Irish name, like us.

And I forgot to mention that he knows when life begins, he does not pal
around with an ex-terrorist, he did not listen to a racist pastor for 20 years,
he is not connected to ACORN, he will not raise taxes on damn near
everyone (like every other Democrat president in history), he has a great
sense of humor (did you see him on Letterman?), he picked a great American
for Vice President (who is also a woman), he was in the military, he loves
America, he will energize our military, he will protect our country from radical
muslim terrorists, and I am praying he will come around on imigration issues.
But mostly because he is white, which is OK because every black person
I have talked to is voting for Obama and that is the only reason they can
give me ... and change, whatever that means, and Bush is a bad guy.

of course i'll vote.  i never miss voting.
and even my husband, who hasn't voted in 20 yrs, is voting this time.
  • husbandhater said on Oct 18, 2008....
O.k. I beleive my White husband is voting Obama as Hillary is no longer a viable option. And I am voting the same b/c we are that middle class that he is talking about and we are tired of watching our hard earned dollars go to the government. We need that money to cipher back down to us a bit. I was at one particular time that poor single mother with no health insurance so that is still of concern for me as I know the pain and embarressment of not having the money to pay for prescribtions and doctors' visits.

As far as listening to a racist pastor for over 20yrs. You cannot see into the hearts of people. It is when the shit hits the fan that you see what they are truly about and he distanced himself from this individual as many would. We've all went through this in our personal lives weither with friends or family members.

ACORN is just a sloppy run business like anyother. They pay some poor schmuck $8.00 dollars an hour to register voters. Tell me that in no business where there isn't much follow up and people are out doing field work where this doesn't occur.
My uncle works for one of the largest Cable companies in this particular region  and he says that there was a range  of his co-workers who was just FIRED due to the same sort of fraud. Instead of going in the field and getting cable subscribers especially ones who had converted from the Satillite companies. They were pasting and copying to inflate numbers. Much like what's occurring with Acorn. The only thing that is bad is that Obama has a link but it's not unlike what was done in the last election to other nationalities by others they just didn't have a known name like ACORN. They closed and moved polls out of prodominately black districts and moved them further away(think Dade county in the Gore-Bush election).

9-11 occured on Bush's watch and he couldn't protect us from these Terrorist extremists that happen to be Muslim and he has "military" experience too. So I'm not expecting much from the next guy. What religion was Timothy McVey? Muslim religion is not the problem it's the people that take the religion to the extreme and use that to brainwash these terrorist that are the problem. Isn't this what the crusades were about?

And I don't know how many black people you know and how many you've asked but they sound closed minded or perhaps you got what you wanted to hear from the conversation just like those muslim extremists.

We will agree to disagree. But this is not what my post is about Alien boy. It is about just getting people to VOTE PERIOD. No matter WHO their candidate of choice is. Or haven't you read it.

I love how Obama supporters can explain away dang near anything. The guy
is dirty, dirty, and dirty, but his supporters just keep loving him. Maybe he
is the messiah. He certainly has a lot of people mesmerized. The danger
with being mesmerized is that mesmerized people will believe anything.

I´m not a citizen of your country as you know but I do think everyone should use their right to vote of course.
  • husbandhater said on Oct 19, 2008....

I could go tit for tat with you Al but I'm not in the mood. Obama is no more the Messiah or dirtier than George Bush(Oh wait G.W. is the man who got us into the Iraqi war with supposid w.m.d's that amounted to not even 3w.m.d's on 1wall). No one is mesmerized least of all me. He happens to speak to the issues that are near and dear to my heart. I thought that is why people pick and choose candidates. I thought thats what the process is all about.

I beleive that this mess that is happening in our country WILL NOT be cleaned up in four years. It will take 2terms or more to stabilize and get us anywhere near back to where we were. So whoever is the winner in this wrestling match we call a Presidential election will have a challenge in a 1/2 ahead of him. But the point is for us is to get out and exercise our rights as citizens of this great estate and pick one of these gents to be our leader. This is the 21st century now and change weither it be race or age is something we must all except as the world has evolved.

I wrote this to encourage all to no matter what just get out there and let their voice be heard and vote. No matter who the candidates are. Like Nike said:"Just Do It!"
