- I am sick and tired of the current climate interms of the election in my country. I think it's safe to say we all have problems with the two guys running for President but I URGE You ALL to VOTE. We are all transplants by nature or force and voting affects ALL of us. No matter what your sex, race, religion,or nationality. When this country was founded voting was reserved for rich affluent, white, male landowners.
- Then their came the industrialization of the world as we knew it and along with it the influx of immigrants due to varies reasons, from starvation, religious pursercution to war,and being proverty stricken in their home land just simply wanting a better way of life. They had to fight for the right to vote as well as just everyday basic respect and rights. Ex:There was a time that the country was very anti-Irish,anti-chinese,Japanese,etc.,..
- Then women came along and said I want the right to vote too. I want my voice to be heard and my opinion to count also. So they were eventually given the right after much pain and heartache.Ex: They went on hunger strikes and had their teeth broken as they were force fed. They were also beaten and thrown into Mental Hospitals.
- Blacks were shot, hung from trees and had firehoses turned on them. They were jailed, spit upon, and also beaten. As were whites that supported the cause.
- NO ONE IS IMMUNE from the scars that came from FIGHTING for the RIGHT to be HEARD here in AMERICA. The right to simply say:" I choose you for my LEADER!"
- LIKE IT OR NOT WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER. And this little peak into history was a reminder b/c I think it's needed. Do you notice the young basing their choice on their ideals and less about all of the "other stuff" that the older generation is griping about? How come this generation that has it backwards in so many other areas has it RIGHT in this one? How come they can look pass the physical and look at the issues? We should all ask ourselves these questions.
- Look someone has to lead and none of us are stepping up and running so it's Either:
- Democrat Barack Obama or Republican John McCain.
- But who ever it is don't sit home on that Hopeful November day. Make a choice!
Note: And as usual only 5-10 people will come and see this and understand what it is that I'm trying to say! As posted on another person's blog.
