Spider Silva is almost 35 years old. It has always been his plan to retire at 35. So maybe when he says he is on the verge of retirement, he's not just trying to scare Dana White into paying him more. Maybe he's simply telling the truth, and he's going to retire next year. He has half a dozen more fights to fulfill his UFC contract, and it looks like he wants to get them over with. Why the hell did he fight Irvin, and why the hell is he fighting Cote? They don't belong in the ring with him. Why doesn't he just stick to top ten guys? They're giving him the wrong fights. Could he just be trying to coast through his contract against soft competition? Cote can hit but the real competition for Spider Silva would be a top groundfighter like Travis Lutter, who almost had something there. Filho, Lindland, rematch with Henderson, or even Trigg.
