Spider Silva is almost 35 years old. It has always been his plan to retire at 35. So maybe when he says he is on the verge of retirement, he's not just trying to scare Dana White into paying him more. Maybe he's simply telling the truth, and he's going to retire next year. He has half a dozen more fights to fulfill his UFC contract, and it looks like he wants to get them over with. Why the hell did he fight Irvin, and why the hell is he fighting Cote? They don't belong in the ring with him. Why doesn't he just stick to top ten guys? They're giving him the wrong fights. Could he just be trying to coast through his contract against soft competition? Cote can hit but the real competition for Spider Silva would be a top groundfighter like Travis Lutter, who almost had something there. Filho, Lindland, rematch with Henderson, or even Trigg.

I'd love to see him fight filho and henderson again. Or throw him a top guy from 205.

The 205 division has so many good guys in it. I can't see Spider manhandling them the way he manhandled Irvin. Put him in with Forrest Griffin, Rampage Jackson, Keith Jardine, Brandon Vera, Machida, Evans, Shogun, Wanderlei, Liddell, Matyushenko, Matt Hamill. Any one of those guys can give Spider a tough fight with a decent chance of beating him. The 205 pound division is so deep in talent and there's nobody who stands out as being able to beat the rest.

i'd love to see him fight bisping only becuase I'd like to watch bisping lose.

I can't think of anything Bisping could do with Spider. Matt Hamill, the guy who beat Bisping but was called the loser, might have a shot at Spider if he concentrated on his excellent wrestling, because he's probably a better wrestler than Spider and might be able to nullify Spider's standup. But if that's what I want to see, I'd be more comfortable with Matyushenko. He's a better wrestler than Hamill, and much much tougher. I think a fair fight would be Spider vs. Machida since they are both good on their feet and on the ground, so may the better man win. What a waste that they fed James Irvin to the Spider web instead of someone who would have a chance.
