First up is the oil change. Oil change should be done every three months or if you reach 3,000 miles, whichever comes first. Regular and proper oil change greatly reduces your chances of encountering engine related problems (i.e. overheating).
Second, always look into the fluid levels of your vehicle. This includes your brake, power steering, transmission, coolant, and windshield washer. If any of these go below the required level, expect your car to perform poorly. Not only that, it will also increase your chances of meeting an accident. If you’re not sure as to how much you should put in, simply check your vehicle’s manual for reference. Just make sure you don’t overfill any of them since this can cause problems as well.
Third, always check your tire’s pressure. A tire can lose one pound of pressure monthly and whenever the there’s a ten degree drop in the temperature. And I’m pretty sure you don’t want to experience the hassle of changing a flat tire, right? So make it part of your routine to check your tire’s pressure regularly. If you need to find out the pressure each tire needs, again, just refer to your car manual.
Lastly, make sure that your tires are properly rotated. This will even out the wear patterns found in your tires and lengthen their lifespan. Do this after every 5,000 miles.
Simply by following these easy-to-do maintenance tips, rest assured that you’ll be able to have your car running everyday like a well-oiled machine.
