I recently joined a new gym.  I join for the classes.  Well they have spinning (cycling).....so I love that.  There is also a class called body pump.....weight lifting....love it.  There is another class called body sculpting.  I went to it and the instructor said....I want you ladies to remember me tomorrow.....well I remebered her for five days.  Man did I hurt.  
 
And there was another class.....Zumba.....Have you ever Zumbaed? Too much fun.  It is dance....latin, salsa type dance.  Alot of hip shaking...core work.....You can burn up to 800 calories if you put your heart into into it.   Well I have tried it a couple of times and I love it.  
 
Tonight we were working out to a song.....the lyrics were...if you can move it like this...can you shake it like that?   
 
Well, I think I shook it like that a little too hard.  I walked out of class knowing it was an advil night.  My hip is killing me...lol.  I just keep saying, please body.... do not fail me now. 
 
I love to move and do not know what I would do if I could not.......
 
So....has any one else tried to move it like that and shake it like this?

    Hello Jenna. *smile* lol cute post. wellll you see i have a little secret, i love to dance my heart out when i am home alone. In my younger days i could shake a leg. *smile* I relate to the desire to move and strength the body and mind. I like to still challenge my limits. Your body will not fail you. I promise. One day it won't bother you at all....well most of the time it won't.

    LOL......i can barely walk from point A to point B these days, but i do remember the spin classes and how much fun they were.  i was lured in by the "burn 700 calories in 45mn"....but it's a natural high to do the routine and know you're in shape.
    i'm so glad you're having a good time.  take 2 advils, and the day off tomorrow from your classes, and you'll be good as new come Saturday!

       My oh my,the price we have to pay to construct the ultimate body for our own personal use. I used to put my body through treacherous weightlifting workouts with outstanding results. I would follow up with water aerobics to cool down. But I do know how it feels to " shake your booty" a little to hard. I often felt like I was going to colapse before I made it out of the gym doors. Even in pain you have to admit It gives a feeling of accomplishment and you will do it again. I still workout  occasionally but the water aerobics are a thing of the past. one half hour in the hot tub and I feel mighty fine. I know about Zumba training, but I have never participated in it. I kinda like the music the trick to walking away with the least amount of muscle soreness is the proper follow up "stretching exercises" that often go overlooked.
     
    Step1
    Sit up tall on the ground with one leg extended out in front of you. Fold your other leg in toward your body. Gently lean your chest down toward your outstretched leg to stretch your hamstring. Flex your foot in toward your body for a stronger stretch. Switch sides and repeat.
    Step2
    Outstretch both of your legs out to your sides while you're still on the floor. Slowly bring your chest down toward the ground to stretch your inner thighs.
    Step3
    Stand up and face a wall. Place your hands on the wall for stability. Lunge in toward the wall to stretch the calf muscle on your back leg. Keep your feet flat on the floor for a maximum stretch. Bend your knee slightly to stretch lower into your calf.
    Step4
    Place one hand on a wall for stability while in a standing position. Bend your leg up behind you. Keep your knees together and flex your foot. Hold onto your foot and pull it into your backside gently to stretch your quadricep. Switch sides and repeat.
    Step5
    Grab one arm and bring it across your chest. Pull your arm down and across your body until you feel a stretch through your shoulder. Switch sides and stretch the other shoulder.
    Step6
    Breathe deeply as you extend your arms upwards and stretch your torso. Lean back carefully to stretch your abs. Lean to each side to stretch your obliques.

    Jenna - if it's the song i think it's Metro Station and i love it! (i call it the shake shake song) ;) i have never tried Zumba but i want to soooo bad! maybe your post will inspire me to do just that, lord knows i need to move more...have a good day!

    One of my girlfriends bought the entire Zumba series.  I was with her when she got the package and the shaker thingies in the mail.  She was so excited and i had never heard of it.  She put it in right away and started wiggling around.  The dances are pretty complicated and they go so fast.  She looked rediculous.  It was too funny.  Im sure she burned lots of calories but she looked like a complete idiot doing it.  Im not one for videos though.  if u were in a gym setting and other people looked like idiots with you it would be different : )  I used to do the richard simmons videos with my mom.  I just couldnt get over how dumb i felt doing it.  But good for you!  : )

    Jenna, I've been Zumba-ing for years, since their first videos came out.  The Latin and bellydancing music never let you get bored, and you learn a lot of dance steps while doing the exercises.  It's so much fun it doesn't even feel like exercise and the time flies by.  I especially like the section on bellydancing.  I thought the older Zumba videos were relatively easy to learn, but I haven't tried the new Zumba videos.  Hope to buy them soon.

    I've never heard of Zumba, but it sure sounds like fun!  I need to "shake something."  I am getting too lazy to breathe....

    Pain is good when it benefits you like this, and I miss dancing.  I used to go out 3 or 4 nights a week dancing, and I stayed skinny!  Good for you, and hope you can stick with it through the soreness!

    well it certainly sounds alot of fun, and it sounds like you really enjoy it,,iv never heard of zumba at all.and i bet your in great shape, i wish i had the confidence to go and do something like that but then again i dnt think id last 2mins haha

       Jenna, great video and perfect timing have a good night . Now I'll be dreaming about stick people dancing all night. But I don't mind as long as there's good music to go along with it.  When I rest my head my bed is along the east wall next to the windows . . . when I wake up my bed will be along the west wall and I bet I'll still have the beat . . .

        Jenna you really don't want to know . . . for three days in a row the same truck drives to the rear of my property turns around and leaves. I've got a problem with people dumping on my property and I plan on catching them . . . depending on how things look and feel . . .maybe I'll take a tag # . . . Maybe it's just a guy and a girl ? I would have no problems with that but if somebody's going to dump I'm ready and hopefully they won't meet God.  

      Hey Jenna as far as the ending of that video goes  . . . I kinda liked it.  :0)
