Senserely.com another blog site was hacked into a few days ago and is currently down. This favourite alternative spot of a few of our popular bloggers like FaithfulDisciple seemed to have been dealt a fatal blow when all its content were deleted by the hacker.

When there was this recent uproar concerning a plundering blogger called 332001 (who has since been sent to the phantom zone), I did make a comment concerning the dangers of someone with a bit of know-how causing a lot of damage to our SC site. I think what has happened to senserely.com is proof of this.

I do believe that whoever hacked senserely must have been someone who had a bone to pick with that site, most likely someone who has been banned or had his/her account terminated.

Can this same thing happen to SoulCast? You better believe it! Are there backups of the contents and data here? The disappearing posts and comments here seem to suggest that this is not so, or we may have already been hacked into!

Lest we be caught cold by the invasion of the data eating bugs from planet 33200x, I suggest everyone start making backups of his/her post/comments so we can help SoulCast restore everything back to normal in case we get nuked!

SoulCast, get a mirror site up and running pronto!!

Yeah GMNIMan, I was shocked when I logged into Senserely, it's been hacked. And to think that I also uploaded it with some of my more popular blogs and wham, in an instant it's all gone.

The best defense is still to have a backup copy of all your blogs. All of which must be copied into your hard drive, so it will be there anytime if you want to upload it to another site.

Senserely was very strict in the sense that if they found out that you were plagiarizing other people's blogs, they'd really ban you out from their site.

It was probably hacked by someone who probably had an ax to grind. I think Soulcast should be more careful that they don't get hacked the way Senserely was.

I hope more members take notice of this post and start backing up their blogs. There are some real gems here.

However if I am SoulCast, I would set up a mirror site, and still have a backup of course.

    Have a blessed weekend!

    That got my attention.

Not that I have many post anyway, but good advice.

It is sad really that anyone would have to resort to such tactics.

I have read that Senserely has thousands of subscribers, just imagine the amound of work lost. And many excellent posts too. Really sad!

I had a minor panic earlier when I couldn't log in. My posts are all backed up now. Good advice.

Talking about not being able to log in, I do find that it does take a little longer than it used to be to log in now.

I think that with more people joining SC, the bandwidth here is being spread a little too thin. Maybe SC should start thinking about upgrading the hosting package. Pages are also taking longer to load and refresh.

Oh My God, this is scary!! Kill the hackers! Pronto!

Has admin done anything about this yet? Wow!
  • GMNIMan said on Aug 20, 2006....
Haven't heard anything! However SoulCast must be earning quite a bit from this site and he/she should be worried.
  • planeturanus said on Aug 20, 2006....
You rock, man! Tell it like it is!
  • chingform said on Aug 21, 2006....
yeah. in this case. better have backups..
    thanks for the reminders.

Good point, GMNIman. I am technologically retarded, so I am still figuring out the limits of my equipment. I am getting there. **sigh**

I have noticed a problem with logging on myself. I too think it is do to the huge amount of subscribers. Ever since those upgrades were done a few weeks ago, it has been sluggish.

Is this other .com similar to SoulCast? This is my first blog site.

If you are interested, I wrote a response to what you asked/commented to Weird World on her post.
  • GMNIMan said on Aug 22, 2006....
Thanks Jade. Yes I did read the comment you left for me at WW's blog, and I have responded back.

Senserely was quite an active site, but because of the large number of members, I think it was getting a little cluttered. Maybe it was about time they did some house cleaning anyway.

I would definitely go back there once they are up and running again.

For those who are interested, Senserely.com is back up again.

Hello, I'm James from Senserely, please allow for one month or more before even considering coming back to senserely, I've put up the site back again with all previous content being lost, and tonight the hacker came back and did his work..
I'm using backups (NOW I'm backing up regularly....) but it's not funny and since I don't know how the hacker is doing it I can't prevent it and would have to simply give up the fight.

I can't spend too much time on using backups..

I can only think of a competitor or a banned member (I ban simply because they stole content and pasted it on senserely despite all the warning every member receive about that)

So wait for a month, if Senserely is still up it means I will have sorted it out or the hacker is dead. Otherwise, you have plenty other blogging sites who share their revenue, I had a list but it has been deleted.

    Cheers,
    James
