Man, America is breaking my heart. All my ideals of what we were supposed to stand for have been smashed. As a nation we have been bulldozing that little hill that we liked to call the moral high ground. As far I'm concerned we have bulldozed it to below sea level.We live in Republican times. Fear, uncertainty and doubt are what motivate people these days and we have too easily let our moral precepts slip away to be replaced by faux morality. Instead of living as though anything was possible we now live like the paranoid.The problem at Guantanamo is indicative of the American attitude towards justice in general. In other words, it is not about justice but rather about "winning."
