  Alien, if you weren't making six figures clear, tax free, you got gypped. Maybe it's time to get back in there. Rolling, it's about the extras for being in the line of fire. I'd go for it if I was 20 and unmarried. I'm fine with the line of fire. I don't really care about getting killed.

  unless she was full of shit. she's headed for iraq in november and she told me that she's going to get over $100,000 with all the extras about being in the line of fire. and she's not a big officer or anything, just a regular jane.

  I googled military pay, and I think she was lying to me. I think she hoaxed me. Not as a joke. For whatever reason, I think she lied to me. I can't see soldiers walking away with $100,000 for a year in Iraq. I don't believe it anymore. When she told me that, I just naturally believed her, but now I don't. She's full of crap, right?

  No, I made nothing like that, but I was drafted into the Army. Made it to E-5.
  Getting room and board with not much to spend money on allowed me to 
  bank most of what I made. Of course I blew some of it on hookers in Bankok
  and Vung Tau (I believe it was, down in south Vietnam). Good times. I still
  love and fantasize about oriental women.

  She said when she leaves for Iraq, I should send her packages of toilet paper and foot powder. I'm thinking ..... they don't give you toilet paper? She said it runs out fast. Well, it's not a perishable item. I buy them in 24 packs or whatever. I really can't see sending a huge package of a 24 pack of Charmin to Iraq.

  I have been both a regular army (not reserve) soldier in a ssf unit and a PMC, i can tell you the average salary for overseas is no where near 100k including field pay, hazard duty pay, jump pay and tdy pay, as a sgt i was making around 55k year, as a pmc however on a 2 and 2 rotation pay was @ 110k year.
   
  quite frankly we have underpaid our troops for years, the more the better, remember these are not 8 hour days with weekends off

  What's a pmc on a 2 and 2 rotation? Could she be something like that? Could she have been telling me the truth about making over $100,000 a year? She's been Navy reserve for many years and was just mobilized for Iraq to watch detainees at Camp Bucca.
