I just heard on the news that after AIG got their big bailout from the government, the exc's. went out and had a party!  With........ MY MONEY because that is who is going to end up paying for this... YOU AND ME

While I sit here wondering where my money is going for retirement as the stock market goes down and down.... these ass holes are out partying - going to spas, having pedicures, massages and just a great time on the money they just got to bail out their company???

This AIG spent $440,000 of "our" money to party!!  I couldn't agree more of what Obama said last nigh... they should be made to give back the $85B and all these exec's should be fired!

What the hell is wrong with this government...... Let AIG fall on their face along with these other corrupt business  and give this money to who really could use it THE PEOPLE !!

Chill out quietone we're only talking about $ 400,000 we all need to get a little golf in to get our heads clear.  They still have a lot of "help" money left !
  • queenparanoia said on Oct 08, 2008....
i dont follow american politics... but that really sucks... if that happens here believe me those execs would be hiding for their lives...
  • Twylarants said on Oct 08, 2008....
I watched those guys on the news last night. They basically flipped us off. No big deal, according to them...not their fault.
I can't even follow this whole thing anymore, not if I want to keep my sanity. Government has always been, and will always be, about them getting theirs and us getting the shaft.
You know when I got my last pedicure? Oh, wait...I've never had a pedicure.

There's nothing wrong with our government, if you're a member of government.
All this rhetoric, all this blame, all these solutions....all bullshit.
  • quietone said on Oct 08, 2008....

Cman ~ I did chill...... I shut the tv off..... like thats gonna help solve the problem!  LOL  Yes, they still have a few billion left to spend.

queenie ~ I don't usually follow it much either because it just makes me mad.  but this is scary times for the world.

twyla ~ I couldn't agree with you more.  I don't usually watch this kind of crap because I know there is not a thing I can do  but get pissed.  So, now the tv is off.

I think what angers me the most is the fact that these execs didn't question using that money in that way, the idea that they deserved a little relaxation time to deal with the stress of running their company right into the ground.  I agree, they should be fired, but they probably would only get their "golden parachutes", making them even richer and more bloated.

This is a very worrisome time in the world.  I read last night that Iceland is on the brink of bankruptcy.  No wonder skald is concerned.  That is very scary.  What happens when a country goes bankrupt?

    I agree with you.

Plenty of people to point fingers at quiet, but these AIG guys have one hell of a set of balls.

Lets all point at them awhile.........
  • skald said on Oct 08, 2008....
I agree with you, even though I don't know enough of your politics but they are the same all over. I do hope you have no money in stocks.
  • quietone said on Oct 08, 2008....

Meems ~ well I am thinking fire their golden asses and give them the same kind of parachute the rest of us get.......... zip!  Let them fend for a while.. go sell pencils on the corner or something.

uniquely  Not much one can do but rant.. still ddidn't make me feel better.

mobil ~ point at them..... hell I will shoot their balls right off them!  That'll change their tune (at least in their voice) and make me feel a HELL of a lot better! ha

skald ~ yes, I have company stock.. a lot but not as much as some that have been with the company for 30 years.  We have lost a lot.. my retirement.  All I can do is hope that after the election here, things will turn and I will make up my losses in the next 8 years. How is your country doing now?

Gee thank's quietone just what I need more competition.
  • quietone said on Oct 08, 2008....
Cman ~ ha  yup. Don't think I better watch tv when I get home from work tonight!

I'm with you Quiet. I was not a happy camper about this. Not surprised, but not happy. $400,000 may seem like peanuts compared to most government spending but it could do a lot of good for people who really have a need. Shame on them.
  • Me-Myself&I said on Oct 08, 2008....
all i need is 44 dollars and i can party. *smile* i'm a cheap date. lol.
  • crybabylu said on Oct 08, 2008....
when i heard it on the news, it made me sick.  i thought we were helping  and all we were doin was helpin them waste our money what a sickening thing this is.
  • Lucytorial said on Oct 08, 2008....
This was my main niggle with the bail out.  It wouldn't get to those who really need it, it would line the pockets of those without morals.  Sorry to hear you will be effected.
  • Psych-ed said on Oct 08, 2008....
They only spent $440,000? They must be saving the rest for holiday bonuses.
  • Jenna said on Oct 08, 2008....
Quiet.....isn't it amazing?  The amount of money these execs get even when they have failed to keep their company going.  It is a disgrace......and yes a flip off to all of us normal people just trying to make ends meet each month.   I often wonder....what do these people think when they look in the mirror each morning.  I am with memy....I will add 44 dollars to her 44 dollars and look....the party is growing.   And yes....perhaps you should keep the tv off for the night.
    xo
  • quietone said on Oct 08, 2008....
woman ~ I wasn't surprised either, but pissed yes!  Well I could use some of those peanuts, I bet we all could.

memy ~ hey, I am with you.. think we could put in for it?

cry ~ I just knew that this money would end up bailing the wrong people out.  Shoulda just let them sink.. like they do us.

Lucy ~ well if you remember right back in May or so we all got our "stimulous" check of a whopping $600 to help the economy! woo hoo... shoulda thrown a party with that instead of buying fuel for the winter.

psych ~ you are probably not too far off.. they will have some stashed away for sure.

Jenna ~ I can bet whent they look in the mirror they see nothing but total amazement at their wonderful self.  They are too corrupt to even have a concience I am sure.  and, yes, I will keep my tv off tonight and tomorrow!  LOL  Like it will matter!!

Yes,  it is sad. What can you do?
When the going is good nobody objects and nobody bothers about CEO's  pay and perks.
I have yet to read about any shareholder's / stockholder's objection to the CEO's high pay and perks. Did anybody at the AGM of the companies raised any objection to the CEO's being paid such obscene salaries. What were the credit rating agencies, internal and external auditors doing when warning signs were flashing.
Greed, pure greed - you scratch my back and I scratch yours.
In any case hell with the investors. They knowingly went in and invested - nobody bothered to read the small print......

    Greetings Quietone,
Until real pressure is applied to those that continue to do wrong it will continue to happen. Fuel prices will rise again probably sometime after the elections are over in first quarter in 2009. Why? In a nutshell, because when fuel prices rose before many of us did nothing, but get more fuel.
Thinking and talking is only good if it leads to careful planning and execution of that plan. THINK, PLAN, EXECUTE

scipio ~ you are right....... the old saying "you can't fight city hall"  well you can fight but I doubt ya'd win.

    worldsky ~ thanks

jawar ~ we as the normal regualr people can think and plan all we want..... it doesn't do any good.  We are not the ones in control.  And they call this a free country..... ha

  • jawar said on Oct 09, 2008....
If you think of yourself as regular I imagine you may be limited to what you can and will do. It takes no more effort to pour the same amount of energy into thinking, planning and executing about what one may do than it does to express one's frustration.
The same energy that is put into expressing one's frustration may be better suited to consider ways to monetize one's Internet presence, help the less fortune and so on.
While there's plenty of blame to go around at the top brass, there's plenty of blame for the masses for the over consumption that has gotten America into this current financial mess. For instance, many people bought into an ideal that wealth is some how tied into net worth as opposed to positive cash flow month after month. Additionally, many households over extend themselves by spending more than they bring in by buying on credit month after month.
Normal people have the ability to make adjustments in their own lives thereby increasing the ability for positive change, after all it takes no more effort to do than it does to express one's discontent for a particular situation.
