Who's reading Cabernet (4):

I've read a couple of stories in Minority Report by Phillip Dick... of course accompanied by the Australian wine. Sadly, the bottle is now empty. But I digress... Imposter was the next story. The ideas were interesting... perfect dropback to the War in Iraq, the fear of terrorists, etc. as there were details about the "propoganda from news-machines..." and a description of an ongoing war with the Outspacers who were trying to get past the protec-bubble.

The characters were two dimensional and the plot took an O'Henry twist, but it worked with the theme of paranoia... and the story was very short, so that worked for me. Perhaps the theme of Paranoia did not blend well with the Australian wine...Yes, still drinking Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon... It took two glasses of wine that evening to relax me... hmmm... It might be that I can't reccomend the red for this story... yes, perhaps a nice white wine which often gives me a headache...yes this would work well with the O'Henry plot twist and the uninspired bits such as "He clamped his jaws together..."

Second Variety was the next story--a great thriller! Very cinematic... Someone needs to film it. It worked perfectly with the Cabernet! Again, it took more wine, but the aerobic activity provided by hand to mouth more than made up for any slight inconvience provided by the racing heart of a plot contrasted with the normally languid swish swish of the Cabernet... but happily, the Cabernet stepped up the plate and performed in sync with the thriller plot. And why so exciting? Another story of paranoia coupled with the question of survival. Watch out for the Underground factories! If this were to be made into a movie, troubled individuals everywhere would throw away their aluminum foil... no doubt drinking more Cabernet instead... The End!
