Its becoming clearer and clearer as this election campaign rolls on that the more the Democrats can talk about the issues, the more chance they have of winning. Evidently i'm not the only one who believes this for the Republican smear machine is having a field day with wild stories about Obama hanging out with 'terrorists' and calling Sarah Palin a 'pig' both of which are highly fictional at best. You see the Republican Parties core policies which it takes to every election can't be taken to this one...simply because it's their core policies of de-regulation of the market place, lowering the taxes of the wealthy, reducing welfare to the poor etc; that have landed The U.S economy into the recent depression it finds itself. Indeed it doesn't take an economic genius to realise that a consumer economy needs it's greatest assett (the consumer, or joe six pack) to be able to have spare money to consume. Instead the Bush administration echoing all the Republican administrations that have had power over the last 40 years; decided to continue to eat away at lower middle class and working class Americans ability to consume (through lack of services, tax relief and refusal to raise the minimum wage etc ) by propping up the wealthier classes and encouraging them to consume more. This more eggs in to less baskets approach has clearly backfired, and now like a tired old irrelevant war elephant its only means of defeating the democrats is to use personal attacks rather than policy solutions....So can the G.O.P win the unwinnable election? well if the election is reduced to name calling and political slander if anyone can Republi-can.
