Definition: The Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) credential is the premier certification for professionals who implement and administer Microsoft SQL Server databases.
To Obtain:
l Must pass three exams: three core exams and one elective (70-290, 70-293, 70-228, 70-229, 70-216, 70-276).
l MCDBA candidates are required to pass one SQL Server administration exam (70-028 or 70-228) and one SQL Server design exam (70-029 or 70-229).
l MCDBA candidates also have the option to pass either one Windows 2000 (70-215) or one .NET Enterprise Servers (70-275) exam to fulfill the networking systems core requirement.
l Exams cost approximately $125 each.
l A comprehensive and updated list of exams, including discontinued exams is available on Microsoft.com.
l Re-certification is not required but as exams are retired or tracks are redesigned you must pass the replacement exam(s).
