    .......grrr.
  • wombat said on Oct 05, 2008....
Ok, this time is better......Ha...(I was commenting when you were trying to post these gorgeous photos)

I kept looking to see if the next one had loaded, and it was a trick of the eye almost, because of the light sky at the tops.  Very nice!  And I wish I was there.....
  • Fallyn said on Oct 05, 2008....
this is the view from my yard!
  • Fallyn said on Oct 05, 2008....
under and over the telephone wires.....and the neighbors junk.....and rooftops...and logged out sites...... etc.

  • wombat said on Oct 05, 2008....
Am I allowed to hate you for your view?   Just kidding.  But I am so jealous I could cry.......
  • Fallyn said on Oct 05, 2008....
you still arent helping me decide which one to turn in!
  • wombat said on Oct 05, 2008....
I like the first one, the sixth one and the last one best........and sorry to be behind on what you meant by turn in.  I am lagging.....no--forgetful....sorry.  But love all these, really!
  • Fallyn said on Oct 05, 2008....
i forgot which ones my sis and another friend voted for.

  • Fallyn said on Oct 05, 2008....
    sis liked number 6.
and my other friend liked the last one.
  • Twylarants said on Oct 05, 2008....
I liked them all, but especially 1 and 6.
  • Fallyn said on Oct 05, 2008....
i'm leaning more and more towards 1.
i'm going to wait to make a final decision till i have them all actually printed out in 8x10
  • one_wired_kitty said on Oct 05, 2008....
    I like #1 and #6
  • wombat said on Oct 05, 2008....
(#6 has a part of an electric pole or something in the bottom right left corner) #1 is more clear of outside debris.)  OF THOSE 2!  The others don't have that at all, and now that I look, they are even better!  Maybe you  can work with these in a wider format?
  • Zayda said on Oct 05, 2008....
    I like #1, #7, and #9.

Of the ones posted, I actually like #6 the least. It's too...hmmm...the mountain seems too centered to me as if you were trying to get everything purposely balanced in the image rather than showing a specific perspective as if someone just glanced across their yard or out their door or window.
  • Fallyn said on Oct 05, 2008....
i wish i had more room to work..........the mountain was so beautiful that day.......but the area is REALLY cluttered up with things.
there's a lot of houses around and a lot of logging showing on the mountains
    telephone poles, cluttery yards.......

*laughing* maybe i should post a picture of what i had to work around. :P

  • kelly said on Oct 05, 2008....
Neat!  I'd say number 4 or 5.  Possibly that last one, although the birds in the sky (I assume those are birds) are just distracting little dots.  Four and five have a nice, simple geometry to them.
  • Fallyn said on Oct 05, 2008....
mmmm, and i've never claimed to be ansel adams.

  • Fallyn said on Oct 05, 2008....
kelly i actually hadn't noticed those little dots till you pointed them out. ....i'll take a look at my bigger ones.....not sure what that is.
  • kruuyai said on Oct 05, 2008....
I like the first one the best, because of the contrasts in the sky.... very dramatic... and I love fog and clouds and storms....  Nice!  What part of the country is this... did you say you're in Colorado?
  • RollingC said on Oct 06, 2008....
    I like #'s 1 and 6

    all are good though.

  • Lucytorial said on Oct 06, 2008....
Fallyn, #1, is there a chance you can vamp up the contrast a little? do you have photoshop?  The mood is great, also you need to take out the over head power lines if you can.. love it.
  • travelr712 said on Oct 06, 2008....
i like the first one best. i think it has the best colors, and the contrasts are striking. it draws the eye more than the others. but you might want to keep in mind, pictures are most effective to convey a thought or emotion, so which pic is best is often determined by the context in which it is presented. i.e. if you want to convey hope and happyness, then #1. if you want to convey gloom, then #4 or the last one.
  • diabolicdame said on Oct 06, 2008....
I'm voting for the first one too Fallyn.. though all of them are beautiful.. the first one has the best colours I think..
  • quietone said on Oct 06, 2008....
I like the first and the last.  And I agree with Lucy.. needs a bit more contrast and maybe a tad lighter.  Hey I did NYIP for a while myself!  Have fun!  :)
  • uniquely-ironic said on Oct 06, 2008....
I like #1 and #4.  Are these digital or did you scan them in from film?
  • Never_Mind_The_Quality said on Oct 06, 2008....

I like Nr. 1 because of how the light brakes through the clouds.
A few others come close, but I like this one the best.

    ;-))
  • hugecock! said on Oct 06, 2008....
    #1. Nice photos!
  • bebrilliant said on Oct 06, 2008....
    Awesome Pic's. #6 & #9 are my fav's.
  • priceless said on Oct 06, 2008....
    i loved them all!
  • starchini said on Oct 06, 2008....

Number one is by far the best.  Im not a big fan of the vertical ones.  I think they defeat the purpose of "landscape".  "horizon-tal" achieve the purpose far better.  If the sky was a bit more interesting visually the vertical view would be better.  But the trees and the mountains are very well captured in number one and with number one you still get the low clouds foggy mysteriousness of it all without the grey being overpowering.  It leaves an eerie mystical side to it all.  Very nice photos fallyn i like them a lot.  But no doubt in my mind number one is the best.  Number 6 is a close second but the clouds in number one are better than the clouds in number 6.  Just my opinion : )  Good job though they are very nice.

  • cuppajava said on Oct 06, 2008....
I agree - number one - being a bit of a photographer myself I would definitely say # ! - but try and see what you can do with the contrast to bring out the foregrounds a bit.
I wanna be your neighbour.....or is there a queue already ?
  • Mamie said on Oct 06, 2008....
hiya! I like the last one #9 the best, it appears as if a ballerina angel has leapt over mother earth and shined her light with a smile on her face! :)
  • Fallyn said on Oct 06, 2008....
kruuyai......i live on the peninsula in washington.....this is my southern view.

trav.....i'm trying to think what emotion it evoked in me.
just....this is how fall and winter are here....it's grey and dreary....but there are beautiful images in it too.
it just struck me somehow that day.......i'm not sure i got it captured the way i was seeing it. *sigh* ....*laughing* that's why i'm taking this course. .......if i was perfectly capable of capturing what i was seeing ....i wouldn't need it.

    rolling, thanks!

lucy....i'm not sure what messing with the contrast would do......it would take away from what i was trying to portray......but at the same time....i didn't get it right there either.

    thanks diabolic!

thankyou quiet! what did you think of the program? ...it's really the only way i cna do this....the girls are such a handful.

thanks sis! they're digital. i haven't completely given up on my film cameras....but i don't have the money right now.

    nevermind....thankyou!

    huge...thanks!

    brilliant......thansk for looking!

priceless. thankyou, *lol* but you didn't choose one. :P

star....it's not necessarily a landscape project.....but i'm supposed to have a foreground a middle ground and a background.....

cuppa....well....land is pretty cheap around here......maybe sometime i'll post pics of my north view. ....it's got the strait.

  • travelr712 said on Oct 06, 2008....
that's very true fallyn, but it looks to me like you have some natural talent. good luck with the class.
  • Fallyn said on Oct 06, 2008....
i just have to figure out a time i can escape for a bit and have these printed out full size.
then i'll know for sure what i have.

  • winterslight said on Oct 06, 2008....

I like your last pic.  it looks like land untouched by man. its peacefull and calming. i also like the break in the clouds were the sun is pushing threw like god is peeking out and looking down on us. and as the pic goes back you see were the cloud is touching the hills and huging them... but thats what i see in the last pic hope it helps. and hope that is what u wanted to know if the pic. could make you look at it and touch you. hope you make a A on it.

  • StoneMaster said on Oct 06, 2008....
wow these are NICE .... hmmm, let's see.....y'know, I like the first one the best.....wait, I just noticed the power lines at the bottom - can you get rid of those?
  • starchini said on Oct 06, 2008....
Oh i see fallyn.  ok well i still like number one the best but they all get the job done : )  so have u decided yet?
  • DaddysLittleSlut said on Oct 06, 2008....
i like them very much too..  number one seems to have the most contrast and drama in the way the shapes interplay.. i really like it.  love your view too.. Mine is almost all poles and wires  - ahhh city living

The final shot shows the greatest depth...

    imagination reels there....

I grew up not far from there....thought something looked familiar...

    - OO -

  • Fallyn said on Oct 06, 2008....
winterslight, thank you so much...that was beautiful!

stonemaster.....the problem with the powerlines in that one if i crop it any more than just the tops of those trees show and it looks cut off funny.
if it's really the best one i'll spend the hours it will take to erase them in photoshop.

star...not yet...i still have to see what they all look like in 8x10 and i haven't had a chance to print them out yet....i don't have a printer at home......my dad has a pro-grade photo printer at his store....so i need to take them to him.

daddys.....the thing is....i'd trade you in a heartbeat. .....i'm a city girl at heart.

sheem.....is that a bad thing or a good thing?

    moon...it's the olympics.

this is what that scene looks like today.
  • gingersoul said on Oct 06, 2008....
Fallyn.......i like #1 a lot. The other ones seem like missing something....But the first one is very evocative....and well centered.
  • Fallyn said on Oct 06, 2008....
thanks ginger! ...that seems to be the one people have been choosing for the most part.
  • gingersoul said on Oct 06, 2008....
Because its really pretty. You have an amazing view from your backyard...i am green for the envy......:-)

Do you have a lot of snow in the winter?
  • Fallyn said on Oct 06, 2008....
virtually none. ....where i live gets hit with the annual tropical winds from japan. ....or something like that.

the mountains get snow sometimes.....but it's actually pretty rare to be able to see them at all.......even in the top pictures there's even taller mountains behind what you can see there....and every ONCE in awhile maybe twice a year or so.....you can see the tallest mountains behind the taller mountains behind the mountain in the pic i have there. .....most of the time you can see the green foothills......but during the winter that becomes less and less.
  • queenparanoia said on Oct 06, 2008....
i love the pics... ;-) that was good..
  • Fallyn said on Oct 06, 2008....
    thanks queen!
  • Lucytorial said on Oct 07, 2008....
Fallyn ~ I hope I didn't sound snotty.  I think if you take the original crop it a little to highlight the mist, the colour in the foreground then maybe adjust a tiny bit! then the overall feel of the photo would completely punch out.  Am PMing you.
  • Fallyn said on Oct 07, 2008....
lucy lucy lucy......you didn't sound snotty! you sound experienced. :P
  • SlickNick said on Oct 10, 2008....

  • Lucytorial said on Oct 11, 2008....
Snow give me snow! its been 30 degrees here today. In F thats close to a hundred I think??
  • Fallyn said on Oct 14, 2008....
the snow is gone....but it'll be back soon. ...didn't snow down here anyway...likely won't till january or so.
