When I was a little kid in the 50s I was aware of all the songs on the radio because I had a big sister who was the perfect age for it all. So I heard a lot of those Elvis songs when they were new, not just as oldies. They were cutting edge and exciting back then. Here's a record that my pre-teenage sister bought in the 50s, obviously not knowing what the lyrics were. This was actually played on the radio, with the lyrics Gee it's dandy to have some candy, peppermint stick will you eat my dick. It was apparently recorded as a joke, somebody liked it, and it was picked up for heavy radio airplay. Nobody listened closely enough to understand the lyrics.
