Hi all.

I don't think that I've blogged much since losing my job on August 8. Maybe one or two inconsequential things but otherwise mostly comments.

So I got a new job and I started today. I'm making almost 20% less than before but it's a direct hire position at a growing company. So that's good -- I get bennies right off the bat. Plus it looks like a lot of fun even though it's a service repair position and not an engineering tech position like I would like.

I'm still pretty excited about it.

But I've been spending too much time online doing nothing of consequence. So I gotta cut back somewhere and this is one of those somewheres. It's not that I won't be back; I'm just not too inspired to blog lately.

Otherwise I would have blogged more about my job search and subsequent find.

So everyone take care, I may still drop by from time to time. And who knows, I may even get the blogging bug again and return in force.

For those of you who know me from other places on the 'net, I'll still be there.

Congrats on the new job.  Sometimes it's worth taking the financial hit to end up with a company that's stable and a job you like.

I think there's been a lot of people with the draught feeling here.  I'm hoping it's a cycle, so I've been plodding on even when it was very "thin".  I'm glad you'll be stopping by :)

Is an 'engineering tech' something like a...

Engineering technicians solve technical problems. Some help engineers and scientists do research and development. They build or set up equipment. They do experiments. They collect data and calculate results. They might also help to make a model of new equipment. Some technicians work in quality control. They check products, do tests, and collect data. In manufacturing, they help to design and develop products. They also find ways to produce things efficiently. They may also be persons who produce technical drawings or engineering drawings.

I would keep the resume handy. A 'service repair position' just will not do. It may pay the bills but it doesn't sound nearly as interesting.
