There is the real phenomenon. Its a matter of scientific explanation about the spectrum of the basic colors and their refractions on the surface of the Earth, most specifically water.
At sunset, when the sun touches the line of the horizon and the atmospheric conditions are optimal (dry air and clear sky) the light occasionally (pretty rarely) turns green. Its a shot of a green beam, like a green laser.......it beauty lasts only few seconds though.
I alwasy wanted to see this but I've never been able to.
During my many sunsets on the sea i have always hoped to witness the "rayon vert", the green flash....
Never been this lucky....its an elusive beauty...
Then.....its not a coincidence that one of my favorite art director, the French Eric Rohmer, had filmed a movie entitled "Le rayon vert" that became one of my favorite movies...
(The scene in the video is about another epiphany that the character of that movie has about the beauty of Nature...so intense that she starts to cry...).
So, we have also another explanation of this phenomenon.......the one i like the most...
The poetical explanation around which the movie plays is that if two lovers watch the green flash together they are true soul mates and their love will last forever.
Also, if you are asking for understanding about some confused love emotions ...watching the green sun will give an epiphany...you will know in your heart what to do, who is the one to love...
This poetic explanation came from the book of Jules Verne "Le rayon vert" (1883) in which the heroin is confused about marrying or not the man her uncle has selected for her until she sees the green ray....
Poetic, isn't?...
Well, I never watched le rayon vert with anybody either.
But, there is always hope, right?....:-)
And you? Ever seen it?
