I'm heading out for vacation and won't be around for about a week, but I wanted to make a quick note about the debate. McCain said point blank that Bush has used torture.

I'm now waiting for SMB and alien to denounce McCain as a soft panzy liberal.

    have fun on vc.

I didn't get to watch the debate.....I'm looking for it on repeat, but can't find it.
    Was there a clear winner?

Who needs to watch it on TV all I need to do is sit here and giggle at the fall out of the debate on the debate being debated.

Yes, McCain looked presidental and Obama acted like an irritated school boy
and looked like he needed to fart. He shook his head and scowled at McCain's
    every word.

Face it. The guy is an inexperienced twit compared to McCain.

And I think McCain said we need to make sure we do not torture anyone.
I am still waiting for proof that Bush tortured anyone. McCain probably
meant we need to have better oversight in place to make sure some loose
cannon does not torture anyone. And we all know if the situation calls for
it, someone will get tortured if they have the information we need. Grow
up while you are on vacation, bloc.

McCain squeaked through a victory in my opinion.  The thing is is the is the debate he was supposed to win handily.

Can you imagine the week both candidates have had and then show up,
when they thought they might not, and perform like a machine. I am
surprised either of them could put a sentence together.

I agree that we need a president that can do that, but there are few
superhumans on this planet who could.

Being president is like being a doctor. You get and education, you do a
lot of training / experience, but then you are a doctor / president.
Remember, they call it a medical practice. There is a lot of learning (and
practice) once one becomes a doctor / president. The big difference
here is, Obama jumped over the training / experience phase. Do we
really want him getting his experience (practice) on our time, at our
    expense?

Honestly ALIEN, wtf does that have to do with the debate?  We are talking about the debate here, not the qualifications which we have discussed enough over the last six months or so.
  • andora said on Sep 27, 2008....
I thought the whole thing was flat...just more stump speeches

I agree with sean on this one

i'm glad it happened so we can get on to the real debate: Biden/Pallin

I'll bet they won't let her go
  • ALIENated said on Sep 27, 2008....

Sorry, I see the debates as pretty much meaningless. It amounts to
who is having a good hair day, or who can come up with a quip that
puts everything in perspective. Like Reagan's not holding Mondale's
youth and inexperience against him. Even Mondale thought that was
    funny.

And Obama's lack of experience was a big part of the debate as McCain
hammered home that Obama does not understand ... so many things.

Too bad they cannot trot out Obama's record on preserving human life.
He would let babies, born alive after botched abortions, die, which is
exactly why conservatives cannot get that upset about the so called
torture issue. What is a little water in the face or wearing your underpants
on your head compared to letting innocent babies die? For most, that
is as far as the debate has to go. That one issue shows us who Obama is,
who liberals / Democrats are. Talk to me about torture and
mistreating those who despise us when we get rid of barbaric practices
    like abortion.

Actually the fact that it was even brought up shows how desprate the Right is to repeal Roe v Wade, Plan B, probably condoms given a chance.
  • ALIENated said on Sep 27, 2008....

Maybe a compromise could be reached. Stop aborting innocent babies and we
stop pouring water in the faces of scum terrorists. It would be stretching it to
concede the underpants on the head deal. We are keeping that for comic
    effect.

i didn't get a chance to watch the debate, thank you for the synopsys bloc and all.

andora, on that subject i agree with you. i've never before seen a presidential campeign where the vice's are as important, and sometimes more important, then the presidential candidate. i think the rules are beginning to change.

sean, from all my research, it seems to me that the right are the biggest opponents to condems as well as abortion. they favor abstinence, which imo, is just another example of their unrealistic, misplaced moral value ridden pipe dreams. i'm not saying that democrats don't have their own brand, but those are some that have plagued the republican party for decades now. again, just my opinion, but to tell people, especially teenagers, that they can't have abortions, they can't have condoms, and they should 'just not have sex', is ludicrous.

    amen to that

i taught my children spiritual birth control

when my kids tried to explain this to their friends, they had a hard time....so, my children and their friends (who were all at my place all the time anyway) were the ones that begged me to write panGasm. the past 5 yrs have been devoted to this.

I think children are too smart to listen to the right wing rhetoric and don't think its worth anything, we need to treat them with dignity. heartless sex is dangerous and unwanted pregnancy is a longterm curse for the unwanted child. many people never overcome the legacy of this unfortunate beginning.

I don't things have changed in regard to the vp politics as much as I am interested in watching the beauty queen expose the truth of how mccain was just playing gotcha politics, rather than exercising good judgment. i don't like it when people play footsie with important matters. picking a vp when you are the oldest man ever to run for office is pivotal. he's a bratt

It was more even than I thought it would be although McCain came across as kind of a blatant liar.
