We've had some more weird things happening at our house lately and I thought I'd update everyone who's interested. It seems like things pick up after fall arrives, because it was like this last year too.

Anyway, the first thing that happened was not last weekend, but the weekend before. Nat and I had been watching TV in the living room, when I had to use the bathroom. Normally we don't use the haunted hall bathroom that much, but I figured I'd use it this time. It was closer. So I went in there, but I left the door open. And when I was washing my hands, I happened to look in the mirror.

From that angle with the door open, you could see out into the hallway. And standing in the mirror I saw a dark shadowy figure standing by the cabinets in the hall. It looked like the shadow person I've seen twice before. Once in that same spot in the hallway, and another time in our bedroom. But it was just standing there motionless. I thought I might be seeing things or imagining it. Or maybe it was my own shadow somehow? So I stared at it in the mirror, and moved myself around a little. The shadow didn't move.

Hmm....so it couldn't be MY shadow, because then it would move along with me right? At that point, Nat came walking up the hall towards me. I didn't have time to say anything before this shadow thing started moving. It went right past me, in Nat's eyesight, and then it just disappeared into the wall.

Freaky shit! It spooked both of us. And this was the first time she had actually seen that thing with her own eyes. Usually it's just me, and maybe I'm crazy? But she's pretty sane and she saw it too this time. It scared her. And I have to admit that this entity does not give off warm cuddly vibes. It feels intrusive and dark. It's not a happy thing at all.

But flash forward to Tuesday night. In that same exact area we have a linen cabinet. And on that cabinet is a decorative knob that you use to open it. It was lying on the floor and had come unscrewed. I thought it was weird, but I figured maybe over time it just works itself loose. So I picked it up and screwed it back on really tight. It was definitely not coming off again any time soon.

Then last night I walked down the hall, and there it was lying on the floor again. There was NO way it could have come loose again that fast. Especially since no one even opened that cabinet yesterday. And even if our cats our mischievous I'm pretty sure they haven't learned how to unscrew knobs with their paws yet. How did that happen?

I'm clueless. Maybe it's just a weird thing, or maybe it means something more? I have no idea. But there you have it. The latest news from our haunted castle.

freaky!  maybe this entity doesn't like the knob.  Or perhaps the knob has special meaning to the entity.  I would probably start looking inside the cabinet for hidden panels or stuff, but then I have an over active imagination. ;)

uniquely--I don't know if he doesn't like the knob or if it's just having fun annoying me :-P Maybe if I feel ambitious I could take all the towels and blankets out and look for a secret room!
  • uniquely-ironic said on Sep 25, 2008....
hidden treasure!!  secret passage ways!!  (okay, I know I'm being ridiculous).
  • evil_twin said on Sep 25, 2008....
uniquely--I love the idea of hidden treasure! That might be worth digging everything out of the cabinet for :-P
  • uniquely-ironic said on Sep 25, 2008....
LOL  I see you're as big a kid as I am.  Yes, go on a treasure hunt.

BTW, it just occurred to me that you could buy a sage smudge stick and banish your spirit that way.
  • quietone said on Sep 25, 2008....
I don't think I could stay in that place kyle.  This is just too creepy!  LOL  Yes, get some sage or something and tell these entities to "be gone"!!
  • skald said on Sep 25, 2008....
Kyle have you had anyone pray for this being or these beings. I think it is important that they get help and good thoughts to pass on.

It sounds like such a fascinating story.. like you know, those people on TV on shows like 'the haunting' etc.. kinda cool.. but for you to be actually living there! With these ghost people! Spooky!! I don't know how you are staying there! I would've ran!!
Oh and just out of curiosity, how do your cats react to these things? Have you ever seen them acting weird? Indians believe cats can see and sense ghosts and other dark stuff like that.. I wonder if your cats agree with that..!
  • Lucytorial said on Sep 25, 2008....

I'm tempted to say get a oujia board out..... in that cupboard is it fixed in to the wall? if so does it have a ceiling? check up in there, you might find something.

Freaky deaky dude, if I were Nat I wouldn't go near that toilet, period!

  • queenparanoia said on Sep 25, 2008....
ohmy that's scary!!!! maybe that ghost died this time of the year and reaching out for you!!??!?!?!? anyway i hope you stay safe...

those 'entities' often do not have good vibes surrounding them as you've said et. they can be very starteling, especially when you're not expecting to see them. and you can't exactly have a conversation with them to find out exactly what they are, or what their intentions may be.

but here's something i know about them. they cannot do anything directly to you. yes, they can do stupid little tricks like open doors and dump shampoo on the floor, but they can't hurt you. the only thing they can do is scare you if you let them. you have the advantage over them actually. you fully exist in this reality, and they don't. they're 'misplaced'. and they're usually more afraid of you than you are of them. in all my dealings with these 'entities', i've found that the most effective means is, after the initial surprise, just ignore them, or say something flippant like 'hey, how's your day?' and they'll go away. for me, they usually don't come back either, cause they're not able to get a reaction out of me.

    creepy..this is why i dislike bathrooms =P

shadowy figure though? weve got those in our house..not in an exact spot or aything..and im pretty sure theres more then one..yday i stayed home sick and you know how when ppl are in the house you can sense them walking around? well i kept getting that, except teh only one home was my aunt who was upstairs, while i was downstairs. and my birds would start talking as if someone had come in the room...creepy =P

like someone else said how bout that ouija board? i found one at toys 'r' us the other week..id be too scared to use one though =P

uniquely--We've done the sage smudging before. It might be time to do it again though....

quietone--We'll have to do the sage again and see if it helps :-) Most of the time I'm not creeped out by any of this stuff. But the shadow people I don't like.

skald--I haven't done anything like that, but I suppose that would be a good idea.

dia--The cats are always reacting to things that we can't see. That spot in the hallway is where they usually just sit and meow for no reason. And sometimes they get scared like they do if someone comes over to the house that they don't know, except that no one is there! At least no one we can see....

Lucy--I've used a Oujia board before, but not in a long time. Those things can actually invite even more spirits into your house though! So I don't know if I wanna try that, even if it would be interesting. The cabinet is just a linen cabinet, not a closet. It does have a celing at the top, but unless I cut through it, I wouldn't know if there was anything up there.

queen--I will stay safe :-) I don't know if this is when they died or what, but things always start happening this time of year. Even at other places I've lived. I think it's just a hot spirit activity time!

trav--It's good to know those things can't do anything to you. I've never really been scared of spirits before, but something about these things are unsettling. They don't have good energy attached to them. And I don't this shadow I see is the same thing that does other things around the house. The feel is a lot different. The other spirit seems mischevious and just looking to get attention. This dark thing just wants to watch us. It's creepy!

hinana--I don't know if I'd want to try the Oujia board. I've done it before, but I hear it's not a good idea. But I do sense sometimes that someone is in the room with me, even when I can't see them. I think I'd prefer that!

Hmmm, didn't hold, huh?  We used to do this "thing" at the dojo once a year.  We would take salt and throw it into each of the four corners of the building.  It was supposed to clean out negative vibes or something.  Salt is cheap and it couldn't hurt, ya know?
  • travelr712 said on Sep 26, 2008....
so do something to make the other entity really  jealous et :-P
  • evil_twin said on Sep 26, 2008....
uniquely--Salt is a good idea. I've heard you're supposed to salt around the windows and doors so nothing harmful can get inside. I'm sure people would think we were nuts if they came over and saw salt everywhere :-P

Trav--Oh, there's been plenty of that going ;-) Maybe that's why he keeps coming back? Free entertainment!
  • uniquely-ironic said on Sep 26, 2008....
We used to use salt to keep slugs away, so maybe evil doesn't like it too.  Hmmm, just a pinch of salt should do it.
  • hotaka said on Sep 27, 2008....
You know, I used to not believe in this kind of stuff. But I am hearing more and more of it and I am starting think there might be something to it. Maybe, just maybe, before having kids you should find another place.

The other week my accupuncturist student was telling me of a new technique he perfected for curing his patients. He asked me if I ached anywhere. I had to search my shoulders because I rarely have any pains anywhere. But I found a tight spot in my right shoulder and he took my arm, closed his eyes, did nothing that I could see and then let go of my arm and asked me to check my shoulder. The slight pain was still there but I said it had subsided a little (probably because I kept massaging it). He tried again and asked me to feel again. It was still there but really so slight so I said it was almost gone. Then this last Friday he told me it was a spirit that was causing me the pain and that many people have spirits latched on to them. Sometimes spirits jump from person to person. I didn't exactly want to say "bullshit" to his face so I just said, "But isn't it possible that I have stiff shoulders just because I have been using my muscles just naturally today?" He insisted that while sore muscles might be an effect of muscle use, many people, inlcuding me were experiencing physical discomfort because of ghosts and spirits. I just pretended to sound like I thought he knew what he was talking about.
  • evil_twin said on Sep 27, 2008....
uniquely--I'll have to give it a try :-)

hotaka--I've actually heard that sort of theory before. I don't know if it's true or not. I can see how it might be though. I know Kruuyai posted something along those lines not too long ago too. If it's a spirit making me sick, then I really want it to go away.
  • diabolicdame said on Sep 27, 2008....

Hmmmnnn.. yeah I've always heard that about cats.. I always thought it might be a myth.. but looking at your cats now it might be true!

  • hotaka said on Sep 27, 2008....
Maybe an accupuncturist can help. My student claims he doesn't need needles to rid someone of spirits.
  • evil_twin said on Sep 28, 2008....
dia--No, I think cats (and dogs) can see or sense things we can't. They're very intuitive animals. It's pretty interesting! Our cats can tell when it's going to storm too, because they start going crazy if the wind picks up.

hotaka--I don't know. How do you get acupuncture without needles?
  • hotaka said on Sep 29, 2008....
    I think it's called fingupuncture?

Actually accupuncture uses needle treatment for only some things. It has more to do with channeling the body's negative energy such as that created by a sickness (of caused by it?) and moving to a point where the practitioner can eliminate it.

    Something like that.

does it matter???...
because i'm fat......
One of my friends at work was telling me about this date she went on the other night, and she wanted a man's opinion about the whole thing. I was more than happy to tell her what I thought, but I am curious what other people might think too....
I'm going to do an experiment here....
